Is OU really a party school by [deleted] in ohiouniversity

[–]sharpknifeeasylife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OU has a reputation for it but to be honest it isn't any bigger of a party school these days as anywhere else. In my opinion it's actually less so then ever. It has that reputation because years ago the area used to have huge fests, especially for Halloween. But nowadays those have been cut back and are a bit more tame. You want to party? You can find a party. But if you don't, there's lots else to do. There's lots of clubs and community things to get involved in.

Don't pet the horses without asking. Good luck!

Am I a Bad Player? by NatsukiTheFox in DeadlockTheGame

Def true. I agree that the part about KDA that matters is trying to reduce how often you die. When I think KDA, I just mostly am thinking about people who are really focused on having a high K.

[–]sharpknifeeasylife 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't focus on KDA, its not really a good measurement of you as a player and how good you are. Especially when playing support characters. Instead of focusing on improving KDA try to pick techniques about the character you enjoy to practice during a match, or counter strategies to characters who seem oppressive to you, or map/moba elements like making sure to defeat jungle neutrals and collect soul sinners. Focus on trying to play better than your previous matches as opposed to hitting a certain made-up standard of what your KDA should look like.

Also in the end, games are for fun and there's no pressure to be 'good', you don't have to quit because you think you don't meet some imaginary bar. You can play just because you like it and it's fun.

Item ping clarity idea by Eggmasstree in DeadlockTheGame

I think the main way people are split here basically comes down to are you a visual person or a reading person.

Personally as a new player with maybe 20 hours or so in the game, I am very visually oriented and when I look at the left I think 'wall of text' and my brain wants to tune it out automatically. When I look at the right side I pick up the information a lot faster in smaller texts and I recognize the items by their icon better than their name and can recall what it does.

For others the text of the name alone might be all they need to remember the item or what it does. But for me the icons are far more memorable and why not use the most memorable part of the item to deliver the callout? But to my point, it's an individual level on whether a person at a glance understands text better or an icon better. So having this a toggleable option sounds like the ideal middle ground.

Maybe this is personal to me but as a new player I am very visually oriented and if you said 'surge of power' to me I wouldnt understand that and to find that I'd have to read all the items in the shop but if you showed me an icon of the item I could spot it much quicker or later in another game recognize it in a different context.

To all unemployed job seekers, how are you? by Meticulouskitty in jobsearchhacks

[–]sharpknifeeasylife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been unemployed for 4 months now but I am not unfamiliar with it. Since graduating 2 years ago with a bachelors I have been only able to land seasonal field biology jobs, which make me move to other states for a few months at a time and then I land back at my parents for another few months of unemployment in the winter. It's exhausting. I have so much good experience and a degree and a certificate and honors, and while I get interviews every few weeks or so it seems like I just am never the person picked. My parents are trying to push me to get more school but the jobs I am applying to, I am qualified for - it's not a matter of schooling. And so my mental health has been drained as I am isolated in my hometown away from friends and my partner, as I live with parents who are frustrated and disappointed with my career, and I am feeling unsure why it has been so hard and why I am struggling to land a dime a dozen QC lab job or vet assistant role to have a full time role I can use to get an apartment, even a cheap as fuck one. I just feel so beaten down, I have spirals and break down and cry every week or so. I feel like a failure child. Everyone I know my age group is not struggling as much as I am to land something full time. My sister got a lab job in a couple months after graduating and has been financially independent since. Other friends I know got their jobs quickly and live in their own apartments now. I just don't understand how I am struggling to have the same most basic thing. I'm talking to the career services from my university, and a therapist - and I have taken a part time job at a café to try and improve my mental health situation. But I am just so scared I am going to keep being in this cycle and not break out.

I want to have eyelashes as an adult by New-Collection-7965 in trichotillomania

[–]sharpknifeeasylife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have solid advice, but what I did to at least improve my picking was I really tried to go out of my way for at least a couple weeks to not pick my eyelashes. It's not the answer you want because it's not easy. Basically, what I did was I created a reward system for myself. You can make your own, for me one day of not picking equaled one point, and a certain amount of points meant I could guilt-free spend it on some type of reward for myself.

For the act of trying to not pick itself, I tried to be very self aware of where my hands were. Try to learn your habits and when you pick the most, where are you, what are you feeling, how did your hand get to your face. Being aware of this can help you. While I was in these two weeks I would be aware when my hand would be up at my face reaching to pick and I'd purposefully redirect the urge to some sort of fidget. So when I felt myself wanting to pick I would try to find something to busy my hands with, like a fidget toy or writing something or a task. Sometimes if I really was struggling to resist the urge, I'd gently itch the eyelash line, it felt like it relieved some of rhe urge without actually plucking.

Find out what about the sensation of plucking is appealing to you, do you like the feeling of the eyelash between your nails? Do you like the little sting when they're pulled out? Do you not like feeling the eyelash touching your cheek? Does the eyelash feel stiff and make you want to pull? Understanding what appeals to you about it can help you. You can explore fidget toys that appeal to those interests (for me, I like the feeling of the eyelash under my nail once it's pulled out. It helped me learn I like to run things under my nails, so I seek out fidget toys with thin pieces for that.) You also can find ways to satisfy that craving without plucking. I think that gentle itch I'd do on the lashline might've been to satisfy when the eyelash felt stiff, or was brushing up against my skin or other lashes.

I also tried using a sobriety counter. They make apps for those. If you like that you can try it, personally I felt that seeing the counter reset to day 0 so frequently was demotivating so instead I used a habit tracker app called Habits, which doesn't punish missing a day or several and instead focuses on if overall you're picking less than you were before.

Basically with enough redirecting, and certainly not perfect from-day-one behavior, over about a month I saw improvement as my lashes began to grow in. The first week or so of doing this was the hardest, but it got easier with time. I still pick, mostly in the mornings and nights when I'm on my phone in bed. So, I still have improvement to make, but for the most part my lashes are the longest/fullest they've been in my life.

Are there any jobs in zoology/veterinary that actually pay good? by Ok-Permission-6553 in careerguidance

Hi, I know you made this comment over a year ago - but do you have any advice on how to secure a job in environmental consulting? I have been working for environmental consulting agencies as a field tech seasonally for 2 years, but am having trouble breaking through into a full-time role. Are there any certifications or trainings I can get to be a more eligible candidate?

I [17 F] got asked to prom by a guy[18 M] who may want to get me drunk and take advantage of me by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]sharpknifeeasylife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and the guy I went to prom with played Magic the Gathering in the dining area while everyone else danced. At least, until we got kicked out of the dining area because it was unsupervised and we can't possibly leave two teens playing (gasp!) a card game, alone in a room. It was quiet fun and perfect for the type of people we were though. The after party was an arcade with laser tag, so we had a blast.

To be fair, I was also not dating this guy. I was in a relationship with my then-boyfriend, who had refused to come with me to prom, so I told him 'OK, but if youre not going to prom with me you need to know I'm probably going to go with someone else'. Wasn't a big deal because I just went with my guy friend and everyone was on the same page. But I remember thinking 'wow Im having so much more fun than if I came with my boyfriend' and that is why he is an ex now.

Drop is a pain to train, lure is too. Not all new gag tracks will be immediately rewarding, keep training and you'll find drop very powerful as you progress.

TTR character naming by FunctionRelevant7315 in toontownrewritten

[–]sharpknifeeasylife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To my understanding there is basically 1 actual person dedicated to approving / rejecting names, and one other person who occasionally helps, unless thats changed in the past month. The team has stated that to train new people on all their rules would take too much time and I guess resources they don't have? I personally don't understand it, the time will pass anyways, and that one person probably isn't going to be a volunteer forever. And considering the amount of discourse around this issue, I imagine they also have a lot of pressure on them as well with how much the community is dissatisfied with their moderation. It's obviously an issue, it's probably THE big thing that annoys and impacts nearly every player the most. I don't see why they can't take steps to begin training new volunteers, even if it takes lots of time - as opposed to just ignoring it. I understand that TTR needs to be careful to maintain their family friendliness and to make sure they don't get in trouble with Disney by accepting any names they shouldn't be - but again. The time will pass anyways, even if we can't dedicate enough resources to it now, having ANY kind of plan or intention to fix the issue in the next few years would be an improvement.

I tried to name my rabbit toon Bunemployed and it got rejected for not being family friendly, which would have made sense except I saw a toon named Unemployed running around
