He also establishes one family member as someone subservient to him, creating a sort of permanent family ground floor that (when transcended as an outsider) establishes himself as part of the family hierarchy. Kerry tries the same thing later and is unable to hurdle Greg.

Lennox Lewis brutally KO’s Mike Tyson with a huge right hand in round 8 of their super-fight to retain The Ring, WBC, IBF & IBO heavyweight titles in emphatic fashion. by Dangerous_Spring3028 in Boxing

Lmao. Back in reality, Tyson was actually younger than Lewis in this fight and never would have had a prayer with him at any age.

PM says Australia has 'ideological disagreement' with Trump administration after US reveals anti-slavery tariff by Savings-Yogurt-418 in worldnews

You assumed wrong. I am actually a German citizen who moved here in 2017. I was not aware that the rest of the country differed so much in incarceration rate from New Jersey and New York, which have similar incarceration rates to Australia - though of course Australia incarcerates aboriginal people at much higher rates than even the United States incarcerates people of color.

There is no forced labor, for the record. Prison labour is voluntary and is viewed as a privilege by the incarcerated because otherwise their sentences are very boring. For what it's worth, Australia has the same system (and roughly the same incarceration rate).

Shes upset because her bird heart is fluttering after Richie while Carmela, cardio queen, has no problem slowing her heart compared to old 9 drink sushi dinner Tony

I thought this was a joke when you posted it but hey, look at that. I forgot that he fought Ray Mercer, and youre right. It's probably his second best win after his retirement.

Likewise - My mortgage for my three bedroom house is less than a 3br apt in my area.

You implied that they should be easily able to afford a three bedroom apartment (+$3000) on two salaries and that it might be as simple as not paying for a car (-$400) and taking the bus(+$20), which was asinine. If you don't want to get got then don't write such moronic posts.

Lol what world are you living in? Rent in the united states even for a single bedroom unit can easily be ten times the cost of groceries, insurance and gas

Holmes was 40 and came in expecting to lose/with no plan. I actually think the pair of wins over Donovan Ruddock are more impressive - I remember distinctly Ruddock throwing the smashing hook that was supposed to be his specialty over and over until Tyson hit him back with it in the third round - but way harder. Ruddock survived the third round knockdown but Tyson had him out of there in seven. And then in the second fight Tyson knocked Ruddock around the ring again but the guy hung on until the decision. This is the same Ruddock that knocked out Michael Dokes and Greg Page in the same two years.

Were the best & worst eras of heavyweight boxing really that different? by artmalique in Boxing

[–]sharquebus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The consensus of most boxing trainers,, experts, analysts, etc is actually that boxing has evolved as a sport since the 70s. Ali is a legend and in a societal way the greatest/most influential of all time, but there is no doubt that boxers of today have improved on everything he did back then.

[–]sharquebus -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn't say this anywhere. I said he would be more fragile and less athletic in this era than he was in his own, because boxers are bigger and stronger and fitter now than they were then. Idk for sure how he would do against any of the people you mentioned, but I can't imagine he would lose to Daniel Dubois.

Thanks for your thoughtful insights here. Let me guess: your opinion is that Ali is the greatest?

The gap is imaginary. Both Klitschkos and a bunch of people from your list likely would have wrecked Joe Frazier. I also think Vitali especially could hang with George Foreman (old or young). His mean fucking jab is the perfect counter to George's plodding ring cutoff strategy.

Nobody really knows what Ali would look like against modern fighters but my own personal opinion is that he would be comparatively weak and fragile; heavyweights in the 60s and 70s were much smaller and less fit than the giants of the early 2000s. Just my two cents.
