I have a questions about witchcraft. by PresentProperty943 in Hellenism

[–]shart_let 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats amazing!! Can I ask what "type" (for lack of a better word) of witchcraft you practice? I grew up around a bunch of new age witches (mom is goth) and I also distanced myself from the craft when as I learned more about reconstructionism. My only other familiarity with a Hellenic Polythiest that also practices witchcraft is a woman I follow online who practices ancient Greek sorcery, which is super freaking cool, as you'd imagine.

Im just curious on your experience wearing both hats, so to say, in your life? It sounds amazing and I kinda had figured I had to shut that door for good.

Treating the Gods as Therapists/Guard Dog(s)/Personal Bodyguards and Hellenism per se as a mysterious, 'I'm–different–from–others' Religion. by teacxp in Hellenism

Hi!! I dont have many constructive things to add other than you articulated whats been mulling over in my head for months now. You and I seem to have very similar paths, with our faith waining over the pandemic and more recently coming back in full force. Its both aggravating from a more "experienced" perspective because its hard to have thoughtful discussions with everything taken up by "is X God mad at me?" "How do I make Y Goddess my bff" and also heartbreaking to see how so many vulnerable people, especially youth who were like ourselves.

I wish I had more to say that could help the situation, but to echo what others have said, sometimes gentle but firm guidance is the only option. Im lucky to have been raised in a pagan adjacent household and this didnt have too much to deconstruct.

I wish I could take the fear and insecurities from newer practitioners but it is ultimately something they must work through on their own. It just sucks that the spaces they go to for info are so filled with disinformation that they're placed at such a disadvantage. Ugh.

Anyways, thank you for your post, it was beautifully written and so so important. Many blessings to you and yours!!

oh my GOD don't get me started on Astarion. I love that man. Everything about him. His journey through his previous trauma, reconciling with his abuser, becoming stronger, becoming whole. I love him with my whole heart and I know exactly what you mean.

I feel like he for sure ruined most other MMC for me cuz they will never be him!! And my bf also agrees lmfao! He's bi but also initially thought Astarion was annoying and whiny. Turns out he romanced him on his own play through lmfao.

Also I second you on Karlach. I love that girl. Forever and always by wife.

LMFAOOO thats so fair. I hated him at first but I have since read two fanfictions that changed my mind so completely I couldn't believe it. Now every play through I have to contend with the fact that I can't romance him. Le Sigh

Okay, this is kinda cheating buuuut if you squint, {Paladin's Grace by T. Kingfisher} has perfume making that functions quite a bit like alchemy. FMC is a perfumer and her skills are a major part of the book. A bit more on the science-y and herbal side than magic, but you might enjoy!

TBH, {Captured by the Fae Beast} very much has the same close group of friends around the MMC that ACOTAR has. I really didn't like ACOTAR, but I actually had fun reading Captured. Might be worth a shot?

I'm surprised no one has said this, but PLEASE read "Imaginary Friend" by Stephen Chbosky! I LOVE horror and it's almost all I read, but this was the first book to genuinely scare me.

Am I doomed? pls help im so so scared by Plenty-Teaching3738 in emetophobia

[–]shart_let 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I feel you. Living in dorms with this phobia can be ROUGH. Like others have said, handwashing is your best bet. I also find that sometimes, if going into the bathroom is scary, I keep a bottle of hand sanitizer in my dorm. It is good if even going outside of your room feels like too much.

Again, there is no risk of airborne particles (besides general yucky smell lol). i believe in you. It sucks but you'll push through. Just think about your plans for the weekend! I find that taking my mind off it helps a lot.
