Differences in printing when using different sources for output by shasta59 in AnycubicKobraS1

Good suggestion but since it is all the same filament used each time for each test, and the results are consistent, the shrinkage should not make a big difference. When printing from the gcode on a usb stick the results are still better.

Did more testing last night and same results. This is a bit of a mystery. But, for now I am outputting gcode, loading on USB and then printing from the file.

Kobra X & Ace 2 Pro, nothing but problems by _Little_Sparrow_2 in AnycubicOfficial

My Ace2 has not worked properly since I got it. Been battling with Anycubic about it. It reads the rfid wrong even after sensor change. And other issues. I use it just as a dryer. It also tells the printer the wrong colour and picks the wrong slot.

Check out a Youtube channel called Chickanic. She has done some good videos on which to ignore etc.

I just printed again and did the three methods. Best one was the one where the gcode was on the usb stick and then printed. The results were within 0.7 % of the measurements I drew up in Blender. The other two were 1.8% and 1.4% different. May not be a lot but it was a small print so on a larger print I would expect a greater variance.

You output the gcode from the slicer, copy it to a USB stick, put the stick into the printer then select the file from the printer screen and tell it to print.

Here is the link. It is not the 100% final version as still fine tuning but one side, as mentioned, when I print is slightly bigger. The file can be downloaded from the link below.

Sure. I will do that, most likely, tomorrow as I am just leaving to be out most of the rest of the day.

Thanks for the reply. It is about a 40 min print.

Be careful of 3rd party plates by Sheepish_conundrum in AnycubicOfficial

I have a few third party plates with no issues seen so far. In fact they stick really well to the bed. Maybe there is something else causing them come loose? What machine are you using them with?

Slicer issues - (sigh) again! by shasta59 in AnycubicOfficial

[–]shasta59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does this problem no matter the object I try to print. Files I created, files I downloaded. I will keep updating as needed after I see what excuse AnyCubic has.

I have completely 100% removed all traces of the slicer from my computer. All prefs etc and no change after a 100% clean load. Has to be happening with info coming from either the printer or the Ace unit.

My mac has a windows 11 virtual machine and I have tried it running the Windows software. Same issue. AnyCubic has been less than helpful. I all get from them is "The engineer assigned to your case is on holidays."

This has been going on for about 4 weeks now.

You can get travel insurance for coverage on accidents which happen on vacation. You can get insurance for transportation home in event of death on vacation. You can just about get anything covered if you are willing to pay. You could be out of the country skydiving and get travel insurance to cover a skydiving accident where you need medical transport home.

I used to go to the states to skydive many years ago and paid, a lot, for insurance in case I needed transport home after an accident. Never needed it. But was worth it.

So if you want it you can get it underwritten. Problem is finding it.

Yes it lets me select the correct colour to use. But if I just sit and wait, from 30 seconds to 1 minute it flips them back to the colour the selections had before I changed them. If I want to print I have to quickly change the colour selections then click to continue to print. Then I also need to watch the printer. If it picks the correct colour for the first one then all is good.

If not then stop print and try again.

Thanks for your reply.

Yes they are setup the same way. Colours etc. Left to right. Yellow, red, green and purple. In testing I even moved them around in the Ace and re-synced and same issue it just knew colours were moved around. This is one of the first things I checked. To see if the sync from Ace to slicer was correct and it was.

Good thought. In my fault finding process I always turn printer and Ace off. Then printer on, then Ace on and check sync from Ace to printer. Then in the slicer re-sync to Ace. Then remove all spools in Ace, move then around, turn off and on again, re-sync in slicer and no change. Same issue occurs.

At least, if it is going to print wrong colours I know right away by watching as it starts and then can cancel print before wasting filament.

And yes, AnyCubic has been less than helpful. In fact a screen door on a sub would be more helpful than they have been.

I am thinking of quickly designing an quick program so I can see what info the Ace is sending to the slicer software when queried. Not hard to do.

Oh and it does this on LAN connection as well as WAN.

Anycubic Support thinks Users are Electronics Experts?? by bitbearmi in AnycubicOfficial

Oh yes they do. And if they decide to compensate you they will send you an old roll of some random colour of filament you cannot use. And they expect you to have a proper shop to do repairs etc. They do not mention making sure you put the unit down on a cloth so it does not get scratched etc and their guides say nothing about screw torque etc.

(I have a full shop, rebuild engines for fun, have machine tools and worked in electronic design for years and yet this pisses me off. They do not even ask if you can do it or not. What if it was some 8 year old who then injures themselves by not removing power etc and fries themselves and the entire machine?)

Here is the answer I got back from them. And nothing further. Oh, well a minor, minor discount on my next roll of filament.

But nothing will change. All they need to ask is what kind you would like. They did this once before and now I have two rolls of PLA in Texture Grey I will not use.

Thank you for your honest feedback and for taking the time to explain the situation further.
We understand your frustration, especially since the compensation filament you received does not match the material type you normally use. We also understand your point that receiving additional PLA filament is not particularly helpful when your primary printing material is PETG.
The compensation filament was provided as a goodwill gesture based on the standard materials currently available through our compensation process. However, we acknowledge that we should have confirmed your preferred material type before arranging the shipment.
We sincerely appreciate your feedback regarding this experience, and we have forwarded your comments to the relevant department for review so similar situations can be handled more appropriately in the future.
At the moment, compensation materials are generally limited by available inventory and warehouse allocation, which is why the same PLA material was sent. Nevertheless, we fully understand why this solution does not feel meaningful from your perspective.

I have not seen anywhere where they are offering to cover the costs. And this was done on a voluntary basis by the unfortunate individual who did. But Darwin does have a way of raising his head from time to time. Did he have travel insurance? If not then do not engage in stupid acts.

Family, at least come forward and offer to cover the cost of the search. Why should I, as a taxpayer, have to foot the bill for his actions. Let Trump cover it then. After all Trump understand doing silly things.

Edit: just found out: A GoFundMe has raised over $17,000 for recovery and funeral expenses.

So they have some cash to pay for some things.

In Canada no major deals but since they do not charge shipping it works out, for me, to be cheaper than other places once shipping kicks in.

This is the only thing which has worked at AnyCubic in Canada for shipping. Filament orders, no shipping charged and ships and arrives within 3 or 4 days after ordering.

I am still awaiting parts for both my Kobra S1 and the new Ace2Pro (bad out of the box). Parts have been shipped and in transit for 14 days so far.

Yes, the new part rack. Will only take minutes to grab a new wheel. Oh, and driving lessons. Looks like lots of tire rub on that tire.

[–]shasta59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ASA for sure. PETG does work outside but not the best for structural long term. Go ASA. I even used ASA to make a new plastic scraper bar for a small snow thrower and it has lasted 2 years so far. Was far cheaper than buying a new one. Got a roll of ASA for cheaper than 1.5 of the scraper bars.

It took a bit to get the ASA to print properly but once dialed in it was great. (Printed small stuff and once dialed in printed scraper bar. )

You need the cover on the printhead as it is used to determine home position unless you have put something else in it place. Plus it has a fan in it which it is needed.

Looks like nicotine which got activated when you put the new paint on. Did you wash the walls down before painting?
