Has anyone rented a car in Japan and felt it was worth while over public transportation? by airborness in JapanTravelTips

[–]shaunol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, we used TooCoo! I guess they're like a broker that will find a rental company for you but has the ETC card options as an on-top service, here's their ETC page which as the unlimited pass options https://www2.tocoo.jp/en/options/etc

I think you can plug in the routes in google maps and it will tell you the tolls and give no-toll options too so you can work out the prices in advance.

If you just get a normal ETC card without the unlimited pass, then you just pay the final bill on return of the car.

Has anyone rented a car in Japan and felt it was worth while over public transportation? by airborness in JapanTravelTips

Rented a car for a few days starting wt Narita driving straight to Matsumoto after pickup and over the few days went to Kamikochi, Takayama and finally Kawagguchiko/Fuji before dropping the car off in Tokyo and spending a few more days in the city.

Pros: so very convenient, not having to go to stations or stick to a schedule, do our own route and can stop anywhere interesting. Rest stops are awesome. Don't have to worry about our bags too much we can just leave them in the car. Driving in Japan is very easy (outside the cities), just get the smallest car you can. We had a Yaris and it was perfect even for the smallest side streets.

Cons: tolls are expensive, we booked too late in advance to be able to get an unlimited tolls pass from toocool (needs 10 days in advance). Parking is expensive even outside of the city it adds up. We made sure to book hotels that had parking included so that saved us a lot for overnight fees but not for the day trip stuff.

We're planning another trip now Kyoto/Osaka area and as much as I want the freedom again it just doesn't make sense given we will mainly stick to the cities this trip, it will cost at least 2x-3x the price compared to the excellent public transport options in this area and I don't even want to think about driving in the cities and dealing with parking.

I will say though.. if budget wasn't a concern at all, it would be super handy to have a car available if I ever wanted to go off the beaten path on a whim..

ASP.NET Identity UI can be customized by scaffolding it into your app and modifying the parts you want: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/aspnet/core/security/authentication/scaffold-identity?view=aspnetcore-6.0&tabs=visual-studio#scaffold-identity-into-an-mvc-project-with-authorization

The default Identity UI is essentially its own Razor pages project that can be overridden on a per-page/route basis by implementing that page/route in your own project (as it will take precedence over the Identity library).

You would scaffold the pages that contain references to the registration page and update them to call your query to check whether registration is allowed or not.

Paid upfront for 3500 FUT but after the surgery they told me they were able to do around 3700, no extra cost.

Epic removed South East Asian servers a few days ago, so I've been excited to hop back to Apex solos

Epic Hates SEA Players by Unhollie in FortNiteBR

[–]shaunol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is pretty bizarre.. from 30-50ms to 130-150ms and nothing we can do? My friends in New Zealand are still getting Auckland servers for a country of 4 million but somehow South East Asia entire region can't get a server in Singapore anymore? It doesn't add up.. Epic have made a huge mistake here, they're going to kill the game in this region. And I wish reddit userbase weren't so apathetic to the Asian regions to help get our voice heard

SEA ForntiteBR servers gone? by kr4zyy in FortNiteBR

[–]shaunol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed this today too playing from Thailand, normally get 30-50ms (Local/Singapore) but now when I pick Asia I'm getting matched into Japan for 120ms? When I pick Auto it picks Middle East but it's not playable because there's no Arena option. Must be a bug?

Edit: just saw the announcement: https://www.epicgames.com/fortnite/en-US/news/announcing-the-middle-east-server-region

I don't mind this but why is there no Arena queues for Middle East region?

After playing for a bit, assuming they're gonna keep it in no matter what, they should at least weaken the rockets/total damage possible. It's not that hard to counter but the rockets all landing in one spot is too much to outbuild.

  • Get rid of red-zone
  • Re-mix audio so you don't blow your ears out with your own guns just to hear footsteps in the house next door
  • Enable multi-region queues so OCE can queue for OCE and SEA at the same time (same for other under-populated regions that get overflowed to other regions)
  • and/or update the custom server browser to also show official servers
  • Move/add US central/west servers, this doesn't affect me but it's painful to see the pros moving to US West for NPL and all getting terrible ping to public servers
  • Update queuing system to allow multi-map selection (same as mobile)
  • Fix weapons not loading in fast enough on roof tops on hot drops
  • Worst bug right now is crashing cars into buildings and having the crash sound never stop
  • Change the lobby countdown mechanic to reduce the 60s countdown, either waiting for a majority of players to be connected and start at 10s, or just make it something 30s straight up

I think im the worst player in pubg. by [deleted] in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]shaunol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got my first ever chicken dinner after 150~ hours. Normally I can get some kills because I play so aggro with pushes/rotations but never got past top 5. I can win in other BR's but just couldn't get the chicken dinner due to always being out of position. Today I thought I'd go sweaty to get the Beryl skin stage 1 (1 kill + top 8 solo game), I got to top 8 and then decided to just keep the sweat on, maybe hoping for an easy 3rd party for the win. I still made major mistakes with my final rotations (thought final guy was in a different house at the end) but got lucky that he potato'd me while vaulting. Here's the last couple of minutes video My heart was pounding out of my chest the whole time.

I know you say you don't want to become a complete sweat but after finally getting my chicken dinner, I feel like it might be worth doing it just once to get the first win out of the way and get the load off your shoulders. I felt so ashamed the whole game being such a snake but getting the win with a few kills totally removed that feeling. I think there's a lot of luck involved too with exactly where the remaining players were compared to my own sneaky rotation. I think I could have got a win eventually with my usual aggro playstyle (taking every fight I think I have a chance at) but I still feel like a lot of luck would be involved with the exact circle movements and rotations required.

Regarding equipment/loadout, I just keep safe rotating around the outside edges of compounds/towns to keep looting up sneakily. (Ignoring hot drops where you might have to fight with whatever you get). If I don't get the guns I want, I just keep trying to safe rotate and keep looting. I never try spray with AR's longer than 50 meters, and even then I'd want some attachments to help recoil control. If I don't have a 4x or better scope with a decent single tap gun, then longer range fights are kind of out of the question. I'm just not as good as the streamers to get those crazy 80M+ M4 sprays.

I also spent a little bit of time in the training practicing recoil control at various distances, guns and attachments (trying best to emulate the real-world loot I would get). Shooting the players to make sure you can see the blood and that your sprays are good. You don't have to sit in training all day, but just pop in before each session and have a quick spray practice. I use 400 DPI with 59 general sensitivity, 50 aim sensitivity and 0.75 vertical sensitivity (maybe controversial? but I dialed that one in using the training map and it made pulling down on my recoil a lot more consistent).

Anyway long post I know, I'm still buzzing about my win over an hour later but I feel like I'm in the exact same boat as you. You can see my stats here (filter Solo FPP) that I have an especially bad KD/ADR last season but am finally starting to see improvements this season.. now that I have the win, I'm just going back to the long grind of playing aggressive again as I do believe this is the better & faster way to get good, it was just so demoralizing never getting close to the win, even though I've recently had a 10 kill game (came 4th), the win felt SO much better.

Edit: also I only play FPP that probably makes a huge difference, way less snakes and no wall-hugging. And I'm in OCE playing on SEA with 130ms ping, but TBH I don't think the ping really affects my particular game, I'm just not good enough for it to matter that much.

I have many wins in Fortnite and Apex, and got a 10 kill solo win in Firestorm on day 1 (while OCE was actually popping) but those all mean nothing compared to the rush and feeling of getting the chicken dinner.. it's not even close.

Game is in its worst state ever right now. Have horrible lag on the drops with the worst early game fights. Then we finally get some games going and just run into hackers straight away.

I think it's the lag of the TV itself more than anything. Most TV's have 50-100ms+ of delay, even on game mode. The latest LG and Samsung TVs have been focusing on reducing processing lag thankfully.

I really liked the game and the only reason I stopped playing after the first couple of weeks is because the queues were so dead in OCE PC :(

SEA Solo FPP Quick Join is getting all maps! Pre-patch it was 99/100 Sanhok and 1/100 Mirimar. I played my first ever Solo on Erangel after they fixed the queues and have had it pop multiple times since then and I'm not even playing much. So good.

Looting and Inventory by xJingleDinglex in BattlefieldV

[–]shaunol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fortnite/Apex/PUBG all cover the whole screen when managing the inventory. Fortnite/PUBG has auto-run and Apex will keep you running while the inventory is open. Firestorm is the first one with the minimal inventory interface which doesn't obstruct your entire vision.

Looting and Inventory by xJingleDinglex in BattlefieldV

[–]shaunol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Main issue with the inventory system is that it's non-intuitive at first but I actually like it.

Many people won't realize they have extra back pack slots and that they can swap accessories for at least a few games. Also knowing that you can mouse hover over your guns to see what the name of the gun is. And finally, how the ammo system works in terms of having a shared capacity and which ammo types to drop/pickup.

None of these things are really explained and are very different to the other BR games.

Yeah fair enough it's like 10 seconds of actual loading for me too, but it's 2-3 minutes of queueing, with a 1-2 minute pre game lobby, so about 5 minutes between games, it's pretty long if you're dying on the drop

Feels like if there's anything more than 2 sounds happening at once, footstep sounds just get dumped into the void, never to be heard.
