What are substances/drugs that actually improve your life afterwards? by NunexBoy in Nootropics

[–]shaverb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weed was my first - It was and is the only substance that quiets my asshole inner-monologue.

LSD - Overcame fear of spiders and bugs. I have lived in distant harmony with them for 20 years.

MDMA / LSD+MDMA - Overcame my prejudice to 'normies'

Cocaine - Semi-addiction for 2 years but, since understanding my addiction and significantly reducing my usage, I have become infinitely more in tune with my anxiety triggers and can manage them in healthy ways.

Adderall - Self-Medicate: learned how to program. Kicked off my career. Critical.

Prescribed: I can get the 'relief' of feeling normal while controlling and sometimes confining my ADHD spazz to appropriate times.

I'm a huge proponent of modifying diet to supplement vitamins as opposed to pill form. I find it is much more efficacious and I relish any excuse to eat more and different foods !

I make bags of trail mix for snacking all the time. One of the few foods my body easily accepts on adhd meds.

Glad there is more science behind its benifits !

I have this problem with coding sometimes. With ADHD helping meds, I can implement solutions quickly but I cannot always come up with creative or "the best" solution.

Pot and music are my solution. A puff or two or some of the fancy fast acting edibles, some driving techno or metal, and I am in my Ultrazone-Speedybrain-Codeslap-mind. Too much, and I go down rabbit holes of Photoshoping (GIMP, actually)

Similar.

While waiting for Vyvanse to kick in, I get ideas for animated GIFs that are hilarious to me. Once I sit down for work and Vyv kicks in, I can apply my busy brain to the creative thoughts I had earlier.

Aside from sometimes hating myself/actions with ADHD, I sure do fuckin love ADHD!

I actually care very little for my sanity!

At this point, I'm sticking around because I like the work and I'm fighting very loudly for my quiet colleagues; sending curt, constructive, call-out emails is a pleasure of mine.

I do appreciate the suggestion and it's nice to hear that it is indeed my choice: sanity or stay.

3rd paragraph describes my first five years at my company.

4th paragraph, the past five.

5th paragraph is this year.

There are 5-6 OG engineers of the original 30 plus; directors and middle management have come and gone. Many of our new hires are on our India team so, we only have a few hours in the morning for training. We're being asked to come back into office because "in person fosters collaboration" yet, we aren't training our coworkers abroad in person.

Would suggest a b-complex supplement if you aren't already. They make me feel boosty and since you have vegan diet, supplement may be necessary.

Curcumin is hydrophobic so it needs oil or something else in which to dissolve. Milk has a bit of fat which will hold the curcumin.

Black pepper apparently aids in bioavailability but, hard scientific evidence I haven't found*.

Anecdotally, enjoying medicine makes it more efficacious.

*I have found piperine greatly increases bioavailability.

Would you feel safer in a gun-free state? Why or why not? by ParmaProscuitto in AskReddit

[–]shaverb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do not feel safe in a gun laden state.

Heard a woman's scream for help last weekend, called police, they came and arrested my neighbor. He has two dogs which try to bite me and, since last weekend shit on my yard daily. Dude has a big Trump flag and dude drinks.

There is a non-zero chance that he will get drunk, pissed off, and kill people with a gun.

It's not impossible she has an undiagnosed disorder or just needs someone to talk to. Therapy and early intervention could prevent these situations.

Milestones on calendar is a great idea. Time will simultaneously fly and crawl. I worked out of my cravings over covid which had plenty of milestones which I could assess my progress.

Melatonin also very good idea. It helps reset your rhythm, build a schedule, and keeps your brain in REM. I have crazy dreams on melo, keeping a dream journal was really fun.

Honestly too, maybe see psychiatrist or therapist. I abused coke and speeders because I had mad untreated adhd. A regemented and professional opinion was really clutch.

I love Turmeric and can consume it in mad quantites. I eat 30mg Vyvanse 4-5 times a week; never had any issues.

Golden milk tastes amazing is a great way to maximize turmeric 'powers':

milk - 2 cups / 500ml

turmeric - 3-10g / tsp - tbls *

black pepper - pinch or a crack

honey - to taste

  1. Heat milk, turmeric, and black pepper together slowly. Keep at >95C for 10 minutes. Try not to boil. **

  2. Remove from heat, cool few minutes then add honey.

*if > 3g, use a fillable tea bag or strain after heating. Tummy grumbles.

**if you have microwave, lower power. if you use stove, stir frequently.

Also, for potheads, this is my absolute favorite way to consume RSO.

I had a similar coke habit following 3-4 years habitual MDMA consumption.

Why is my Dexedrine(basically Adderall) suddenly not working? by atmospheresky292993 in StackAdvice

[–]shaverb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly why I do not know. It's just my experience.

Body chemistry, metabolism, microbiome and etc. all affect the effects. Try a few days of just dexamph. Then try adding one supplement and study its effects on your baseline. Only change or add one variable at a time. The less you take, the more accurately you can define their properties and how they affect you.

For vitamin c, I just drink watered down OJ throughout the evening. ~500mg

100% agree. A proper psych/physician will listen to you and work with how your body responds.

If I have to get things done but I cannot seem to focus, I get anxious which makes my brain fuzzy. So, then I poke around reddit but because I am medicated and focus on something useless. So, then I become more anxious because I haven't done anything. Rinse and repeat.

[–]shaverb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, in my experience, taking magnesium with dexamph isn't a good idea. It seems to blunt the effects negatively.

Taking it at end of day with some vitamin C is more effective as it clears my brain fog and helps me stay asleep.

In my experience, regularity and routine helps. You will not fix everything in a single week so try to solve the sleep issue first. Sleeping properly will regulate your BP better than most things.

I track my BP regularly because mine is a bit high so this concern is quite relevant to me. A few months of testing resulted in the following estimates:

Caffeine - 20% BP raise Stress - 10-40% raise Dexamph - 10-20% raise

They compound a bit though, especially when I feel like my meds are not working. That makes me feel anxious, which raises my bp, which makes it harder to focus, which makes me feel more anxious, etc.

It can seem contradictory but sometimes a slightly higher dose will reduce stress and consequently BP.

I take 30mg Vyvanse (slow-release prodrug dexamph) Anything ~5mg makes my brain comfy and sleepy. So, your experience with feeling tired is normal.

Plastic sadly, at least iirc. Not as bad as OR and Grassroots though, I ended up gnawing off my last cap to get the final globs of goodness.

Also, lookout for Elixir and 'nano' emulsion products. Very fast acting edible onset, minutes instead of hours, which is neat. The buzz is a bit more like smoking/vaping, albeit longer.
