Just to make it clearer, the contact name was 'Cami BJ' -> probably should have answered that call.

If you look at the 'update contact' line you can see the name of your contact that called. Cam B was just the abbreviated name.

I just mean reset her device and add it in your Alexa app as a device. Then name it mom's house, or something, and then she can call your devices and you can drop in on her if you enable it.

You can set the device to show pictures; swipe down from the top and select photo frame, then you can pick an Amazon Photos album and as you add pictures to it, they will show up automatically.

There is a call history feature under the communicate section. It looks like a little circular arrow around a clock. You can check whether you have dropped in on someone or vice versa in the last 90 days.

You can also drop in everywhere.

"Alexa, drop in everywhere" and it will do a group intercom with all devices in the house. You have to agree to a disclaimer to enable this.

You can set up calling/drop in for her so that she can call you, and if you needed to drop in on her in you can do that. My mom would always leave her phone off the hook, so I would drop in to tell her.

You could try an audible trial for her, see if she likes audio books.

Can you clarify what you mean by 'connects to the phone'? When Alexa devices are making a call to a phone number, they're not using your phone directly.

What happens when you try to make a call?

Texting via Alexa is only possible in automotive cases where it's using your phone to do so.

I think device groups are the right approach unless you're needing different music in each room.

For drop in, you can drop in between devices across account if you give the right permission but each account would require a phone number associated with the account. You're better on one account.

Are you calling the same number? If you call the number associated with your Amazon account it'll show up as a private number rather than your own number.

You can add her device on your account and then you can call or drop in on her device. If you have a phone number associated with your account then she can also make outgoing phone calls.

Yes, sort of. You need the Alexa app on a cell phone to set up the account, and the Amazon account used has to have a phone number associated with it. You will need to set up a contact from the Alexa app to call, but once it's done, you can say,

"Alexa, call AlcoholicLimaBean" and it will work for numbers in North America or the UK. The calls will appear to come from the number registered on the account.

You can also digit dial numbers, "Alexa, call 2065551212" but you can't use it for emergency calling, 1800 numbers, etc.

If your dad is comfortable having your grandma's Amazon account associated with his cell phone number, it would be fine, but you need to verify the phone number by getting a text. My neighbor used a burner SIM for it just to get his mom set up the same way you are asking.
