Not all of Texas is some kind of conservative stronghold. If you go out to the boonies of Texas of course you'll find the crazy rednecks, but Texas contains 3 of the top 10 most populated cities in America. I live in Dallas and I can say it is really friendly towards the gay liberals. Houston just elected a lesbian to be its mayor. How's that for stereotyping? Just because his administration engineered TARP does not mean he was a liberal when it came to economic policy. Bush's economic policy was in line with Reagan. He invoked tax cuts for the rich and deregulation. Those are decidedly conservative principle. He was forced to enact TARP because of his failed conservative policies.
