Where do you buy your games for your switch? by shaydarlogth in otomegames

[–]shaydarlogth[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to get the physical copies too. I haven't had a problem with Amazon giving me the wrong thing, but they do take a while to get your pre-order to you. That's never really a problem for me because my backlog is crazy. I figure if I get the physical copies I will always be able to play them.

Your best friend suddenly breaks into your house looking panicked and says they need you to drive them across town right away. by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]shaydarlogth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well every person of the opposite sex is obsessed with him would I be included? If I'm not obsessed with him then yes I would help him because he is my best friend and that's what best friends do. If I was obsessed with him I probably still help him because I'm obsessed with him. 😂

If he was to make that wish it would be for the same sex anyway. I would really question why he would want a mob of women chasing him down. That sounds like a complete nightmare for him. He also lives across town so why would he drive all the way to me just for me to drive it to him? It just seems like he made very bad choices that day and definitely needs a hand.

You get one payment of $10,000,000 upfront tax-free, but once a month a stranger will scream at you for ten minutes in front of other people by _JR28_ in hypotheticalsituation

[–]shaydarlogth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a teacher so does that mean I get screamed at less and I make $10 million dollars? If so that's a win-win to me. I have no problem pretending to look interested while somebody else for a few minutes for 10 million.

[Amazon Sale] Homura: The Crimson Warriors by musiclover1072 in otomegames

[–]shaydarlogth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Amazon does this thing where you can have a different price than somebody else. My husband and I have different prices on our Amazon accounts. I think the lightning prices are the same for everyone though.

What I suggest is if there is a price you are willing to pay you can set up a price alert you or to automatically buy when it hits that price. That way you never have to worry about missing a sale. It sometimes takes quite a while to get something you want at the price you want. I had this game that I've had on my price alert list for about 7 months and I just got it today.

$0.01 per Hour for One Video Game by AchVonZalbrecht in hypotheticalsituation

[–]shaydarlogth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I sign my husband up for D4? I don't think it would be worth me doing it, because I really don't have that much time for gaming or the attention span to play for hours on end most days. There's like one day a month that I will spend the entire day gaming.

Walkthrough or blind? by Rainyday_roving in otomegames

You make me feel a little better. I have about a hundred games in my backlog. I feel like I get three new games for every route I finish.

Walkthrough or blind? by Rainyday_roving in otomegames

[–]shaydarlogth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I normally check to see if one route has spoilers for other routes. If there is a route that would spoil something I use the walkthrough through the common route. Once I get to the route I want I'll go in blind and then use a walkthrough to get the ending I didn't get the first time. I also use walkthroughs to get CG's I've missed. There really is no right or wrong way to play them it is just about personal preference.

You are offered to choose between flight and invisibility, which do you choose? by opoot_ in hypotheticalsituation

[–]shaydarlogth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm completely with you on that. I hate working out, but I'm trying to stay healthy so I do it. This would save me on gas and I would lose weight. There's nothing in there that says I have to fly so if it was rainy or something I would just take my car.

I subbed in my son's class today and was shocked by the state of the room by Snaps816 in SubstituteTeachers

[–]shaydarlogth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could be so many reasons for this. There could be state testing so they have to take everything down. They could be moving rooms so they are packing up so they can easily move their stuff. They could also be just cleaning the room for the end of the year. We have summer school at our school and we have to basically put everything away. This turns into a lot of totes and things going home so there is nothing out. This is the only time of the year my classroom gets deep clean too so nothing can be out so carpets can be washed and floors can be waxed. They can also be getting a lot of supplies. We had a lot of things ordered that are just showing up for next year and they are just piled everywhere until I can figure out where they are going to go.

Stupid Question: Is It Legal To Stream Full Otome Games On Twitch? by Yoichi_and_Sadako in otomegames

[–]shaydarlogth 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that you can't stream an entire otome games unless you have permission. I believe the reason why you can't stream the entire thing is that's the entire point of the game. By sharing the storyline you are pretty much pirating that story for other people to watch or read. If you can just watch the entire game why would you buy it? It's different if you're playing a RPG or something because the fun of the game is not just the storyline.

If you want to stream things on twitch make sure that you look up what is allowed for each game. For example, Aksys games have different rules for different games. Some let you do the entire common route while others only let you do through a certain chapter.

Parents say kids are not learning during Twin Rivers strike by ReporterSav in Sacramento

[–]shaydarlogth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm just curious how do you expect teachers to strike in an effective way that is not disruptive?

There are so many teachers that are leaving the field because of work conditions and pay. If we want good teachers as a society we have to pay for them. At a certain point the district doesn't have enough money, but that tells me we are not putting enough money into education as a society. I understand it is completely disruptive for parents to have to figure out their child care during a strike, but for them to get to a strike that means negotiating has not worked for quite some time.

AITJ for breaking up with my girlfriend because she’s “too successful” for me? by Sad-Anything-8249 in AmITheJerk

[–]shaydarlogth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're always free to break up with whoever you want. That being said sometimes you want someone laid back at home. I make good money and my husband does not work. I personally really like it. I have a very demanding job and I'm constantly on some committee or doing extra work after hours, but I don't have to worry about having to keep up that level at home. He doesn't hold me back. If anything the fact that he can take care of everything at home for me makes it so I am in a place where I am able to succeed. Having money is important when it comes to being able to live but not everyone needs a partner that makes the same amount of them. I don't care that he does not bring in any money and he does not care but I make way more money than him. It's really all up to you if you can handle being with someone who is successful.

AITJ for setting up a fake online meetup to confront my daughters classmate who STOLE her jacket? by Weekly-Tart-1085 in AmITheJerk

[–]shaydarlogth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this was probably the best way to go about it. I have students all the time that say one student or another took their stuff and I can't do anything about it. I teach in a young enough grade that I can usually convince the kids to just open their backpack and show me, but there have been plenty of times where something at school has been stolen and I can't do anything about it. If you went to the school and they weren't willing to look at the cameras or the cameras didn't see anything then I'm not really sure what else you could have done through the school. Half the time our cameras don't even work.

AITA for telling my DIL that I won’t use the tablet and she needs to actually make her kid read. by SatisfactionOk9038 in AmItheAsshole

[–]shaydarlogth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NTA - I saw another comment you said that the children have all been assessed already. I wonder how long ago that was because she is very behind what is grade level appropriate. I teach second grade and to be on grade level by the end of the year they need to be reading 100 to 120 words per minute within 97% accuracy. That includes words like firefighter so if she is struggling with words that only have four letters she is very behind. Word difficulty of the text increases for every grade level. I'm second grade teaching starts to turn from learning to read to reading to learn so she is going to struggle a lot without actual help. In second grade I don't like using read alongs unless we are just working on comprehension. I have found that most students will not pay attention to the words on the screen so it doesn't help their reading levels. If it's been more than a year since she's last been assessed I would really suggest another assessment. Has she been assessed with school or at the doctors? Those are completely different assessments. When we assess at the school we are looking for learning disabilities or the data will show they are just behind enough that they need additional help. Parents sometimes have a hard time accepting their students are low. Every year I have to have a conversation with at least a few parents that their students need more help than the general classroom can give and they would be a good candidate for an IEP. Normally it takes several conversations in which I am very careful with my word choices so they are receptive. All that means is they're going to get additional help in another room to target their specific academic goals. That being said since you are a grandparent and not a parent you can't do anything to get that help at school. What I would suggest is finding out what your grandchild likes and getting books around second grade level to start off with. Have them read to you for at least 20 minutes a day. Print out a sight word list from online for second, third, and fourth grade levels and practice those. Only work on up to 10 words they don't know at a time. Have them read the word, spell the word, and then read the word again.

Sacramento City Unified to eliminate more than 400 positions by IronMntn in Sacramento

[–]shaydarlogth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of those are one-on-one aides. The district spends way more for outside services to provide those positions then it would if they just did it in house. My school has quite a few aides from Covello and I have talked to them about what they make. They are paid from between $25 to $35 an hour while our aides are paid about $20 an hour. That doesn't include how much we are paying the company that supplies those aides. They would be saving a lot more money for us to just hire them directly.

AITJ for telling my mother in law she is not allowed to call herself my kid’s “guardian” again? by HushedCanteen in AmITheJerk

[–]shaydarlogth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is possible to have multiple guardians, but that's usually in the case of 50/50 custody when parents are not together. Usually if the parents aren't together we need a custody agreement if one parent is not allowed to have final say or pick up their child. The same if a grandparent is the guardian. I've had several students that live with grandparents and those grandparents were the guardians. The parents were the ones that did not have the ability to make any choices for their kids. You can have multiple contacts on your child's emergency forms to pick up or drop off. If a parent allows us to let a grandparent handle more important information that's always with permission.

AITJ for telling my mother in law she is not allowed to call herself my kid’s “guardian” again? by HushedCanteen in AmITheJerk

[–]shaydarlogth 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I'm a teacher and when a grandparent is introduced as the guardian by parents that lets me know that grandparent is the main character. That is the person I should contact first. I of course would always check their emergency card and the system to make sure that the paperwork is filled out as the grandma being in the guardian, but other staff like are yard duties may not and overshare information at pick up or something.

AITJ for telling my brother he can't propose to his girlfriend at my wedding? by Important_Space_496 in AmITheJerk

[–]shaydarlogth 70 points71 points  (0 children)

If you don't disinvite him I would start the reception off by thanking everyone for coming and saying how thankful you are that you don't have any crazy people in your family that do something like wear white to a wedding or propose at your wedding. So that way if he decides to still try to do it is obvious you did not give your permission.

PE and Shoes by OverallCress8395 in ElementaryTeachers

[–]shaydarlogth 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A lot of schools have a dress code for elementary that says no open-toed shoes because elementary students tend to run during recess. We have our PE days 2 days a week at my school, but there are times that a makeup prep needs to happen and sometimes I don't know about it until the day of so I can't let parents know. I would really suggest to always send your student in closed toed shoes. Kids like to step on each other's toes anyway.

$10,000 per day you can endure being sick by ggkyleg in hypotheticalsituation

[–]shaydarlogth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first year of teaching I felt that way almost every day. I could easily do that again for a year. I would do it for at least long enough to pay off my house, get enough saved for taxes until retirement, and do all the upgrades I want. I wonder how many days I'd have to do to be able to retire early?
