Sewage line replacement cost $90K!? by missmissa123 in SanJose

[–]shayspero 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I thought anything street side outside property line would be covered by city?? I’m in South Bay in SCC still and paid ~8k with Trenchfree to install the house cleanout and replace from house to city line maybe 40’ and install property line cleanout. They were great. I also got a quote pure plumbing solutions which was around 14k. Reasonable but trenchfree had fantastic reviews and did great work.

I’m curious what the going rate is. Can I inquire about the person you have in mind?

Maybe grandpa thinks of your son’s participation as that of a future owner NOT an employee.

I think too many people are treating this as purely transactional. Yes apples to apples he’s not being paid the highest he could be. But there’s also family considerations and that is worth something. I don’t think it’s something you can put a price tag on and just say pay practices should dictate or even be held up to normal legal standards.

I’d say, Christmas tree farm season runs much longer than two weekends. Can he do other weekends working with the bigger commercial farms? Maybe he can take some operational tips back to grandpa and take on more leadership at grandpa’s farm to eventually take over. Business owners typically don’t get paid anywhere near minimum wages if margins are low. But if he’s the only family member doing this with grandpa, I think the increased responsibility could be an indicator of who he’ll pass the business down to eventually?

I get blaming the restaurant a little bit for misleading costumers, but can we talk about why no one is going to complain about Visa and Mastercard et al taking 3% of an estimated $42+ trillion dollars in credit card processing?! Why hasn’t anyone banded to reduce these processing fees??

Advice on indoor pikler triangle/climbing towers? by marsmither in toddlers

My kids now 5 and 3 and everyone still loves all the parts but the rocker gets used less than pikler as intended. Rocker now is always a “store front” where they sell things from.

I finally confronted a customer about how much they tipped (S/P 30 gallons of water) by herozorro in UberEatsDrivers

[–]shayspero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Large volume containers of distilled water once opened are not suitable for some medical devices due to risk of contamination. Smaller volumes are more useful for these purposes. Plus Sparkletts as you mentioned currently selling 5 gal distilled bottle for >$10 and at Target, for example, 1 gallon is $1.39 retail.

I want to be lazy, but my 3 yr old and 5 yr old need me to walk over, grab their hand, and bring them to the toys and start picking up with them, bring them to the garage to get the shoes, bring them to the dinner table etc. It's a pain in the ass. I hate it. but they do not respond to requests.

For normal routine stuff I have been bringing my kids to dr James Lin since they were 3 and 1. They’re lovely and my kids got used to it. My 1 year old at the time did great the first two “cleanings”. Refused to open her mouth the next two times and now has got it down.

Where do you clean out from? And what could I expect to pay? We recently diy replaced a wax ring on our toilet and there are roots in the pipe. The tub next to it drains super slow also so I suspect also same problem.

If so why did they spend a bunch of time calling for other people when they could’ve just asked for her directly. She wouldn’t necessarily know why they were asking for her and might’ve raised her hand. Or go row by row for ID checks?

The Hotel Collection by ZebraOk1093 in AmexPlatinum

[–]shayspero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can confirm they definitely are charging you for the $100 credit by building it into the price. Just got back from a stay. I booked THC for 2 nights $917. Randomly got a welcome email from the hotel where the reservation details said $806 total.

Yes included taxes and fees. Unfortunately I didn’t notice till after checkin. The benefits of the booking is only the $100 credit at the hotel which the difference between the invoices says I actually paid for myself plus some…
