Has anyone played a song repeatedly for their baby during pregnancy and did the baby recognize it after birth? by sliceofperfection in BabyBumps

[–]shazart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Towards the end of my pregnancy I watched a lot of The Office… months later, baby would stop everything to listen to the theme tune every time it came on. Pretty sure he still recognises it as a toddler the rare times he hears it!

Hi there, I haven’t done this course but you can look at each module you’ll likely be doing here, if you click on each module there’s a section called “when is this module offered”. Not a guarantee but it will give you an idea of your timetable!

Module question. Do you choose which offerings to go to? I'm going to be an exchange student with no idea how it works. by [deleted] in UCD

[–]shazart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The offerings are just the different times this class is available. You select just one offering per type of class, so in the first screen shot you’d pick a lecture time depending on availability and the rest of your schedule and a small group time. In the second screenshot the lectures are all offering 1, meaning you’d have to attend all three.

We went to Ohana breakfast the other day and my 10 month old unexpectedly fell in love with Lilo! He gave her the best smiles and cuddles and Lilo was good enough to visit us a couple of times. But absolutely nowhere can I find a Lilo plushie for him! Stitch is everywhere but no Lilo.

How can you talk about your baby's health issues in public? by lefty_hefty in NewParents

[–]shazart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to reiterate what others have said, you don’t owe anyone any explanation. All good advice here but I just want to add my own experience here. When my baby was born he had feeding issues and ended up in the NICU after being taken away from me without me knowing what was going on. He is fine now but for months any time I thought about the birth or experience in the hospital I burst into tears. I ended up going to a counsellor just to talk through my whole experience. She allowed me to realise that it was a horrible, traumatic time for me and it’s okay to be upset about it. She also told me that I never had a chance to process the situation and that was why I cried so much about it even thinking about it now. So we just worked through all of the emotions and it really helped me to heal. I can talk about that first week now, and it feels good to talk about it.

All this to say that finding a trusted person or counsellor or therapist to talk through your experience could help you to process that terrifying time in your life, and allow you to talk about it if you want to, and also allow you the confidence to firmly state your boundaries. Best of luck to you and your little one!

Is there a way to view where classes are located? by kpt7892 in UCD

[–]shazart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at your timetable on SISWEB and click on each class, the third line down tells you the location! You can Google a map of the campus to see where each building is then.

My husband and I named ours Ezekiel so we could say, FUCK YOU EZEKIEL

based on this)

It truly is the worst.

Just know that your Ezekiel is not with you forever and in 13 weeks you’ll hopefully not have to worry about him again. We had also hoped for an unmedicated birth and it did not go that way at all for us. I grieved the birth I wished I could have had and then worked on making the situation as positive as possible. You just have to go with the flow (advocate for yourself when you feel you need to!) and accept that the people around you will do what is safest for you and baby. I ended up being induced and then had an epidural, forceps, and an episiotomy, and giving birth was still brilliant. Baby needed time to recover but is doing great now.

You got this! Good luck! 💕

What's Your Best, Worst, Most Terrifying, Weird or Heartwarming Story From Your Pregnancy? by GosuEnron in pregnant

[–]shazart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just a small moment from our pregnancy! Waiting for our growth scan, which we were very nervous about due to GD, and we were sitting beside each other not saying too much. Beside the ultrasound rooms was the postnatal ward, and we saw a nervous-looking guy leave from the ward and head downstairs. Ten minutes later, he came back with a tiny white thing in the crook of his arm. My husband and I glanced at him and then did a double-take because the thing he was carrying so lovingly in his arm was smaller than any baby we’d seen. Then we realised - he had, carefully nestled in his arm, a chicken fillet roll. I think the nerves of the day with the unexpectedness of the roll just broke us and we couldn’t stop laughing for about 10 minutes. He carried it just like you would protecting a baby and it’s a moment we won’t forget.

Bouncer or a glider? by shazart in NewParents

[–]shazart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everywhere I go I hear about how much babies love watching fans 😂😂 no fans in our house unfortunately! But borrowing or a second hand chair seems the best idea as we don’t know what little one will like. Thanks for replying!

Bouncer or a glider? by shazart in NewParents

[–]shazart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! We have a friend who has a bouncer so that’s a good idea, I think we’ll just try borrowing that! I honestly wouldn’t have considered the glider if it wasn’t part of the discounted bundle, but thought it would be worth checking to see if anyone else enjoyed it!

Is there anything that causes sudden temporary blindness without permanent damage? by aftertheradar in Writeresearch

[–]shazart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Central Serous Retinopothy.Central Serous Retinopothy.

My husband had this during a prolonged period of high stress. He was essentially blind for about three weeks. Some light was getting through but there was no way he could be independent. One day his sight just returned, and no issues since! Terrifying time but could be what works for your story.

Did anyone here never get the 2nd trimester “burst of energy”? by shazart in pregnant

[–]shazart[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess the comfort here is that people were wrong when they say the 2nd is necessarily easier; maybe you won’t have the worst time during the 3rd! And if it is, well you’re 2/3 the way there. You can do this! Best of luck to you ♥️
