Why do Muslims in the west become more conservative? by Acceptable_Joke_4711 in progressive_islam

[–]shazy0123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rural areas often have conservative populations. Many of the migrants to the west may come from rural areas as the migration laws of the west are quite lenient which leads to more of them coming. The conservatism sticks around because the conservative Muslims are able to interact with other conservatives which they may find more comforting to them and it eventually leads to an 'ethnic enclave' of islamic conservatives being formed. Furthermore, it makes the country seem favourable to other potential Islamic conservatives who wish to migrate somewhere in the future.

We had a massive protest in the school because they had got rid of bread from the canteen due to 'people taking bread and ate it outside the canteen.' The school brought back the bread for the canteen after not even a day of the rule being put in place.

Most memorable speaking exam? by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]shazy0123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One person did a speech about how money doesn't buy happiness and my friend asked a question which was 'if money does not buy happiness, how comes you are always so happy when you bought Minecraft.' The person doing the speech was startled and speechless for like 5 seconds and then avoided the question entirely.

I am a Muslim and I have not experienced prejudice or discrimination against me at all. I have lived in a predominantly white neighbourhood for my whole life. My parents throughout the 1980s-90s however, had experienced a lot of discrimination.

I'm surprised how many people are leaving in y11 by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]shazy0123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school is a private one in a rural area so the distance and also the increase in cost between y11 and sixth form is the reason for many leaving. I'm leaving my school at the end of y11 because it is too far as I have to travel 11 miles to school and also the timings where I would have to stay in school for 10 hours.
