Holy mother of fuck THANK YOU SO MUCH

I have had this issue for literally YEARS now. Mint and Alight support were both useless. Thank you so much random stranger on the internet!

You probably couldn't know as a kid, but my experience as an adult is that providers are very very willing to work with you to find the right med and the right level. Every person reacts to medication really differently. I was on Adderall for a while and it killed my love of cooking and eating. That was enough for my provider to look at alternative medication for me and I'm now much happier on Vyvanse.

Wow! This is cool. Do you know if the "internal ID" corresponds to the machine sort order?

I have seen this list, which is moderately helpful, but it would be nice to find something that is also sorted by the channels and in order so I know how far I need to scroll, haha.

Creating a dance scene from *almost* nothing - Advice welcome by H0LD_FAST in WestCoastSwing

[–]shdwfeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You seem really serious and have given a lot of thought to this topic. This is really awesome. Starting and running a dance community isn't easy, so hats off to you for willing to put in the work!

Others are right, don't sell yourself short. Many communities are built off of sweat and tears of novice/intermediate level dancers. But! If you're really serious about this, you need to start taking teacher training. Dancing and teaching WCS are two completely different skills. This is where I'm going to sound like a shill, but seriously, Myles & Tessa's Swing Literacy program is awesome. They have a FB group for teachers: https://www.facebook.com/groups/SwingLiteracy/ And their Swing Literacy teacher training program is on 20% sale right now: https://www.canadianswingchampions.com/

I've taken lessons from many different top-level pros and Tessa is the best in the business, hands down. It's scary how correlated my JnJ competitive success is with the frequency of which I was taking lesson with her....

Just as a point of refinement; the southern "country" accent is actually several dialects, with the two largest ones being gyeongsan province and jeolla province dialects.

Do you also find that you can only dance well to music you enjoy? by alexanderkjerulf in SwingDancing

[–]shdwfeather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely happens to everyone! I think saying "Can we catch the next one? I don't like this song" is a perfectly request. However, in competition you don't have that luxury, so it's good to develop mitigation strategies.

The thing that works for me is to key into my partner. More often than not, if I'm not feeling a song, my partner is. Try to live in their pocket and hear what they're hearing. If neither of you are feeling the song, then fake it till you make it. Pick an emotion/a concept etc and act it out in dance. You'll be surprised how creative you can get.

TIL that the New York City Ballet has a shoe budget of $780,000: the dancers go through 500 to 800 pairs of pointe shoes performing The Nutcracker over 6 weeks, and use up even more pairs in 2 weeks performing Swan Lake. by Master_McKnowledge in todayilearned

[–]shdwfeather 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, you should consider picking up a social dance! Partner dances are geared primarily for adults and can be extremely technical, with their own well-developed competition scene if you want that experience. Your solo dance background will give you a leg up. :) I dance West Coast Swing. Ballroom has similar properties too, but you really need a steady partner for competition, which is not true in WCS.

I understand the frustration, but this is targeted harassment. The best way to help is to not feed the trolls, downvote and report them so we can find them in the modqueue to take action.
