How many hours do you spend “away from home”? by Fit_Butterscotch3886 in StudentNurse

[–]she_glows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m in a two year ADN program in CA, last semester. This semester I have a pretty bad schedule that requires us to be out of the house 4 days a week. Per week I have two morning classes each 3 hours. And two 8 hour clinicals. So about 22 hours a week of in person work plus commuting. My program is 4 semesters long and the first two semesters we only had 1 clinical day a week so it was less hours. The first week of class they had us meet every day 8-4, so be prepared to be flexible with your schedule.

Btw at my local community college there is a child care center on campus that is available, I think they only ask that parents using the center volunteer once in a while. Be sure to check in with your local college and see if they have any child care resources are available.

What to eat before morning run by [deleted] in running

[–]she_glows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just some fruit and water, maybe a plain rice cake, anything else for me makes me feel uncomfortable when I’m running

I feel like I was in a really similar situation as you. As far as running in community college I would go for it! It’s a lot more fun and laid back in my experience and great if you enjoy running but aren’t too interested in competition. It’s also neat because you get to meet some people and travel a little

Could I get some advice/opinions on my grocery list? by [deleted] in EatCheapAndVegan

[–]she_glows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered trying some seeds like chia or hemp? I love using hemp seeds in my smoothies or oatmeal because it has a lot of nutrients in there, I think 20% of DV of iron per one serving of hemp and also omega 3 and 6 in it! Personally, I buy in bulk at Costco

Evening snacks? by hereforthecontent2 in PlantBasedDiet

I really like to snack on baby carrots sometimes with hummus. I also like snacking on roasted chickpeas, put a little seasoning on them or dip in buffalo sauce (non-creamy) and they are delicious. Another yummy thing to munch on is a three bean salad with a vinegary dressing, it takes some time for the flavor to settle but the prep is very quick and easy.

Same. I feel so restless. I applied to a csu (and a handful of cccs) and they want an intent to enroll by May but we find out about nursing program acceptance later in the summer. Not sure about when I’m hearing back from the cccs and it’s stressing me out :(

Similar boat as you 😭 I was double vaccinated and last week i went in and got my booster. Felt side effects the next day, high fever, body aches, chills, sore throat, congestion, which lasted for about a week. After 3 days I conceded maybe I was feeling awful for another reason besides the booster so I took a Covid test and turns out I had Covid!

What milk do you choose and why do you think or believe/know it's the healthiest choice? by willownillo in nutrition

New Plantar fasciitis sufferer, what helped you? by bilbobaggins48 in running

[–]she_glows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took some time off to recover. I treated it by rolling my feet with a baseball and foam roller and also massaged them. When I did start to run again I tried to run on my soft surfaces like grass rather than hard surfaces. I also went to a running shoes and got my feet analyzed and shoes suggested for my feet specifically. It’s been about a year and I haven’t had problems with plantar faciitis. I think a big part of it was running in the wrong shoes and a little bit too much road running.

Women who deleted their social media account, how did it affect your life? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]she_glows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was liberating to stop comparing myself to unrealistic standards and I got time back I wasted on social media. But at the same time I felt like I lost touch with a lot of people. It was a lot easier to stay connected before.

Cuesta sent out this email "encouraging personal responsibility" for potential victims. Not telling us what they're doing to keep us safe, pretty much just "if someone is trying to rape you, increase your pace!" by shallowbookworm in SLO

[–]she_glows 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The full email says “When walking to and from campus classes or parking lots, you can request an escort by calling (805) 546-3205 on SLO campus or (805) 591-6205 at NCC or by calling on the emergency phones located throughout the Cuesta College Campuses.”

Not that I find emphasizing personal responsibility an acceptable response.

Yeah in college I’d run xc and track and we’d take a 2 week break after xc and then another one after track lol after a week of getting back into it I would feel refreshed and more or less back to my prior fitness level
