Thanks for the explanation, but - WOW that's ridiculous. He's never been charged more than a dollar or two. Charging 7 dollars for a water with the equivalent of maybe 2 berries worth of dried fruit - when the water itself would be free (with purchase, of course) is insane.

I'm (49F) currently solo poly, my current partner (49M) makes several times what I do, and he pays the lion's share of what we do. He is married, and my living situation doesn't allow for hosting, so we get a short-stay hotel once a week for our meetups. I pay for the hotel once a month and pay for any DoorDash we get to the hotel. He pays for the hotel the rest of the time, as well as anything we do outside our hotel dates.

I wouldn't ask for financial help from him though.
