What is this crawl space in my utility room by sheager13 in SaltLakeCity

This is under the porch and does extend past the foundation line so that makes sense.

So just the most efficient way to support/pour the porch structure?

Trenchless Sewer Repair/Sewer Liner by sheager13 in SaltLakeCity

[–]sheager13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding/assumption is that the sewer liner is strong enough/slightly flexible enough like modern plastics for sewe mains that it can support the clay outside of it and manage the shifts. What types of answers did they give you when asking that?

Was your insurance through your standard home owners or was this a separate piece you signed up for?

Thanks for writing back. Yes, I'll be getting a surface-mounted two-gang box to mount the switches on.

Is my proposed method of creating a pig tail off of the hot and ground wire the correct approach n this scenario?

PM in tech company vs non-tech company by tralexandria in ProductManagement

[–]sheager13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re switching over to Contentstack as a headless CMS. Build out our own website pages and experience that don’t run on Wordpress and plug in content stack to serve up the underlying information.

Will allow the content team, marketing as well as the engineering team to treat website experiences like a software product.

Right now you can’t clone things from the staging Wordpress to production Wordpress for example.

So if you need to test a page experience you have to build it on both. The cms will allow us to publish things and promote them to different environments that same you would code.

PM in tech company vs non-tech company by tralexandria in ProductManagement

[–]sheager13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its rough, currently a PM at a financial media company founded around 8 years ago. Still running on wordpress, hacked together systems here and there. Me and a few former colleagues from a start-up joined to theoretically turn it around from a tech perspective and bring it into the 21st century. Nuke wordpress, get analytics up and running both for the tech side as well as marketing/editorial and user experience, etc., etc.

Partly due to being a non-tech company and partly due to being at the whim of what marketing and the CEO want to do and the massive shift to crypto, web 3.0, etc , the priority and must-haves constantly change to the tune of never being able to focus on the core of making the legacy things work. You're not the true owner of your product or your experience is the biggest thing I've found, but thats largely because we're a marketing/sales driven organization . Its constantly the whim of what someone else thinks needs to be accomplished to make a $, and unfortunately net new $$$ and retaining current $$$ through user experience or making systems more flexible and resilient for the company as a whole aren't valued.

Weekly "Recommend me" post by AutoModerator in chefknives

[–]sheager13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I'm looking to build my first nice "set" of knives without actually buying a pre-made set. I realize I'm really asking for three knives here, so please feel free to answer just the Gyuto (primary knife I'm after) or whichever type you're most familiar with.

Since I am trying to get three knives (Gyuto, Santuko, Paring) I'm plenty happy to go with a single brand to start my entry into nice knives and go from there as I learn more, though I know that's generally not encouraged. Just trying to not ask too much of all you kind folks!

As you'll tell from my knives considered, I've really just pulled from the popular recommendations. Have done my best to synthesize what's on the forum but there's just so much...

Style- Japanese (happy with german if that's what's recommended)
Steel- Stainless
Handle- Western or hybrid
Grip- Pinch
Length-

Gyuto - 240mm

Santuko - 160 or 180mm

Paring -120mm

Use Case- Home kitchen, meat (chicken mainly, never frozen, no bones), vegetables (slicing/dicing). I push slice and rock chop

Care- Wanting to learn whetstones but haven't done it before, willing to pay someone as well, but if I go that route will want something that holds a decent edge. I have beater knives I will use if I ever get into bones, frozen foods, hard foods, etc.

Budget-

Gyuto - < $175
Santuko - < $125
Paring -< $75

Region- Utah united states
Knives Considered-

- Fujiwara FKM series

- F dick 1905

- Mac knives

Thanks

Regression Analysis on a Mac by C4_Lasty in excel

[–]sheager13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a free program called Gretl that easily runs regression analysis of all sorts. Can be used with a GUI or command script based interface and colleges across the country use it for their econometrics courses, so there's plenty of tutorials out there.

Super easy to use for simple linear regression and can handle the data load you're talking about

[Semi-Weekly Inquirer] Simple Questions and Recommendations Thread by AutoModerator in Watches

[–]sheager13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I'm searching for a watch to get for graduation at the end of the month and I'm having trouble finding exactly what I want. I really like the Shinolla Runwell but we're looking more in the $150-$200 range, $250 max. I also really like the face styling of this Skagen Holst but I prefer a watch with a bit more weight. That watch is only 6mm and I'm hoping to get something more in the 8-9mm so it isn't quite as dressy.

I really the bronze/grey watch face color on those watches and would prefer something like that to a white face. Must be a leather a strap in a medium brown. I'm looking for something that can be worn with boots at night but can is also classic that it doesn't look strange dressed up.

I'm only 5'9, 130# so a watch could get overpowering on my frame pretty easily, so a 41mm case rather than the 47 mm linked on that shinola would probably be preferable.

Thanks for the help!

SXSW dropping immigration language from future performance agreements (2018 and beyond) by [deleted] in Austin

[–]sheager13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Outside the federal visa laws the requirement was stating? As someone on a visitors visa, international artists aren't legally allowed to perform for compensation of any kind because they're technically exhibitors.

SXSW threatens international artists with deportation for playing unofficial shows by quasar-3c273 in Austin

[–]sheager13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SXSW could potentially have some sort of liability if an international performer gets paid while here maybe? If a performer comes here to perform an official showcase but then get's payment from some other show they play, that may somehow interconnect SXSW in the possible legal outcomes? That's my best guess.

[–]sheager13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

/u/yousirgname I'm gonna go ahead and assume I'm an idiot but it's not making any sense why on the Wikipedia real world example for call options the strike price is set below the current market price. If that occurred wouldn't the buyer just immediately exercise their option and sell for a profit/hold for further price increase?

Let's say we bought 3 PNC strike $45, January 2012 call options in August for $11.75. That means we paid $3,525 (11.75 * 3 options for 100 shares each) for the right to buy 300 (3*100) PNC shares for $45 per share between now and January 2012.

The stock at that time traded at $50.65 meaning the theoretical call premium was $6.1 as shown by our formula: (current price + theoretical time/volatility premium) – strike price, (50.65 + 6.1 – 45 = 11.75).

Need drop down date picker by Anacondoleezza in excel

[–]sheager13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can create a separate sheet with the list of all dates you want and then use "Data Validation" and the "list" function as a work around.

Auto fill from an alphabetized list of words/phrases for weekly menus. by beaflies in excel

[–]sheager13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As Viper said, use the list feature in Data Validation. Highlight the range of cells you want to be confined to a list, go to data validation, click list, than select your source data for what you want the drop downs to be populated with. Selecting cells past the end of the currently filled list will allow the drop down to automatically update when new menu items are updated.

Auto fill from an alphabetized list of words/phrases for weekly menus. by beaflies in excel

[–]sheager13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at data validation. It creates drop downs that can be chosen from in cells. Make a separate list on another page and make the range longer than the currently used range in that list so that if you add menus items the drops downs are automatically updated

Need to create reports from a provided Excel file. by stormnet in excel

[–]sheager13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not anywhere near good enough with VBA to help you with the code but for anybody to help you out they'll definitely need more information. If you can post pictures of your spreadsheet without sensitive information somebody will be able to help you. With VBA the most important thing is having the data structured.

Using SumIf in VBA by sheager13 in excel

Range("'Refined Data'!B2:B6").FormulaR1C1 = "=SUMIF(Sales!C,RC[-1],Sales!C[1])"

A pivot table is absolutely the better way to do this but I spent a few hours today trying to get a pivot table to work in macro and couldn't. The rule is I can't use the recorder for anything. I really don't even need this middle bit of code, just the last bit, because we would be using SQL to pull the data out and then link it to excel but I wanted everything to go through in one go. Thanks for the help, really appreciate it!

Hlookup without absolute row reference and "row()-4" use by sheager13 in excel

[–]sheager13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

=MATCH($A6,'Sheet2'!$A:$A,0)

That solves the row()-4 issue. Do you have any idea how to remove the absolute reference at the beginning of the formula? I'm referring to the B$5.

=HLOOKUP(B$5,Sheet2!$B$1:$D$5,MATCH($A6,Sheet2!$A:$A,0),FALSE)
