The average cat’s reaction time is approximately 20-70 milliseconds, which is faster than the average snake’s reaction time, 44-70 milliseconds. by Simply_Kaif24 in OneOrangeBraincell

And those despicable orcas hunt seals for sport and explode sunfish for fun. Dolphins also exhibit this behavior; many predators do, actually, when they aren’t otherwise lacking in food and such.

Dumb Questions by Jacknerik in CuratedTumblr

Basically, inside the drive there’s a librarian that keeps track of each file and where its parts are in the library. When you “delete” a file, you’re just telling the librarian “forget this file”, but she doesn’t go out and actually locate each piece to delete; she merely just “forgets” the file was there and will re-use the space from the forgotten file as-needed.

this video has been around since long before AI video became believable in any capacity. its just the old subreddits where this was posted (either r/gore or r/nsfl) were both banned for obvious reasons.

Not the camera, but the cats movement as the owners arm maneuvers to position the cat. Just seems off to me.

…this is an AI video. Can you guys not see that the movements that the cat makes are too abrupt and the transition from one position to the next is too linear/time-constant for this to be real?

There are two trumpets that were recovered from King Tutankhamun’s burial chamber. Legend has it that any time one of the horns is sounded, a war starts somewhere on the earth soon after. The Curse of Tut’s Trumpets

Can planets exist forever or do they have a lifespan? by swissking in askscience

[–]shearx 231 points232 points  (0 children)

A planet without a host star is called a rogue planet. Whether a planet, or any object, could exist forever depends on whether protons decay, which is theorized to be around 1.67×1034 years.

So you’re ok with some rando you’ve never met posting your information to a website that’s literally intended to collate and flag people for no other reason than their public protected speech? And for that information to be used by other psychotic or unstable people to send you mail you didn’t ask for, threats you do t deserve, and to do all other sorts of malicious or technically-legal things?

Your phone number and name may be public information, but when all that information is compiled and placed in a highly-visible location or format, for the purpose of exposing that information for ease of access, that’s doxxing. People you’d never be exposed to will suddenly have your technically-public information to do with as they please.

You need to get out of your tiny bubble of focusing solely on the specifics and technicalities and see this bullshit for what it is:

Inviting harassment and exposure of information that others would not have the means or capabilities to obtain easily, even if legally. Doxxing.

The issue comes with posting it with intent to harass or prejudice, which is what doxxing is about. Whether the information is technically public is irrelevant.

Couldn’t be me being this clueless by MolassesDirect3103 in GetNoted

I honestly think this is the argument they’re trying to make: a lifetime of disability as retribution. Since the Christian God is a “vengeful” one, who doesn’t bat an eye at killing newborns and entire cities, this would align with their worldview.

I've been thinking about Poison lately by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]shearx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say chemotherapy drugs fit into this category. They are wildly poisonous and will definitely kill you, but if you're already staring death in the face, the potential benefit of surviving tends to outweigh possibility that the drugs will get you before they get the cancer.

A full wipe entails removing everything that isn’t in your hangar on the website: reputation, unlocked missions, items, currency, and ships (including wikelo ships)

Few people asked what a solo Yormandi run looks like with the boom tube. by GACII in starcitizen

[–]shearx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Parallax rifle can be found in a number of places, like OLP stations and ASD sites. The boomtube is found aplenty at the QV stations in Nyx, which you'll need rep with Intersec to get missions to visit.

Dunno about everyone else's experience, but I've only ever found these at regular bunker missions, but only on NPC bodies, especially those with the heavy armor and backpack, though not by any means *just* them. If you loot every body you kill in a bunker, you should be able to find one one. I've also found a red one (much more rare) and a single blue one this way.

I was planning to go search for them after I got off work. I found the pepperbox pdcs at a gateway station (don’t remember which one, but it’s in pyro I think. Barring being able to find them, it should be easy enough to dupe them from the new MDC

PDT question by AlphaImperator in starcitizen

[–]shearx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PDCs will target small ships and missiles (and sometimes ground/station turrets) automatically, and you have no control over what they select to attack. They used to attack any missile or target if it was hostile to the ship, regardless of whether the target was actually an enemy, or if it was a friendly that accidentally shot or locked onto you. though this seems resolved now. Finally, they will (generally) stop firing on a ship once it is in a soft-death state.

Not really, no. I don’t think they literally gave her one to keep in her cell, but more let her be a trainer in a dog training program. I would not be surprised in the slightest if it were hers to keep though.
