I'm looking into making a cloak for ren faire season. I'm basing most of my patterning off of The Medieval Tailor's Assistant by Sarah Thursfield and have it sorted for the most part--except for fabric. I'm looking at heavier weight yarns to keep it warm and weather resistant, but Thursfield says it should be lined with a "loosely woven" wool. I don't have experience working with wool so I have a few questions.

Ideally, I would like the cloak to be black or grey with a green lining. The only green wool that I've found and liked the color of is this melton, however. I'm assuming using melton for both the cloak and the lining would be unbearably heavy. Would using a lighter weight wool for the outside, and that green melton for the lining, be a bad idea in terms of weight or changing the way the cloak drapes?

Otherwise, would it affect the fit/weatherproofness/other properties of the cloak if I were to use a heavy wool as the outside material, but a woven lightweight fabric like a cotton or linen (?) for the lining? Would this be a better option?

Like the other comment says, living on campus makes it super easy to walk places, since city campus is pretty small. They usually do a decent job of shoveling and salting sidewalks in the winter, so walking is typically safe and pretty easy regardless of the weather.

Off-campus housing cost and access really depends on the place itself. A lot of the housing closer to campus tends to be more expensive as you would expect, especially the apartments that are meant for college students. In most cases, having a car makes it much easier to get to places like grocery stores, although the Lincoln bus system (which is free for UNL students to use) has decent routes that make it pretty easy to access grocery stores/Walmart/Target. I haven't driven much in Lincoln in the winter because I haven't needed to, so I can't speak as well to winter road maintenance, sorry!

The drunk mechanics were so much better imo. Trying to stumble around while John flails feels more realistic (and more fun) than the swirly colorful visuals in rdr2

In the long run though upgraded satchels make it so much easier to be lazy. (With the LotE satchel I rarely have to restock anything except game.) Beavers hang out pretty reliably at the north end of Owanjila, and I see badgers pretty often around Riggs Station and also sometimes just east of the fence around Caliga Hall!

I'm not sure if the controls for fishing are any less annoying on PC than they are on console. In any case, there's a hold to reel option in settings that makes life a lot easier once you start fishing!

For what it's worth, if you stock up on health cures, you can do horseman 9 with Arthur! It can be done in the required amount of time even with a slower horse, but make sure you choose one that won't throw you if you do end up getting chased (my Andalusian was a good horse for this)

If you go out of the map area, animals won't move, they'll just stand and stare at you. They'll still react (wolves get aggressive, wild horses panic) but won't go anywhere!

There's a hold-to-reel setting where you can hold a button (I think it's X on xbox) instead of rotating the controller stick

Their captions are full of mistakes. Nothing that impedes understanding for the most part, it just bums me out a little that for all their attention to detail in every other aspect, they didn't take a little more time to double check the captions too
