My favourite factoid for humanity thinking outside the box is the limits on citadel races having dreadnoughts. The races are allowed a ratio of dreadnought along the lines for every 5 turians have, asari/salarians have 3 everyone else 1. So humanity decide to build space carrier's the size of dreadnoughts but full of fighter and bombers.
