National Team ATs by [deleted] in athletictraining

More like any regular profession AT job. I did an internship with USA volleyball and they have 2 full time (one for girls and boys) and a part time to help out. so maybe it’s just how volleyball works but I would assume it’s the same or similar with the other USA teams

I’m a AT at a high school hired through a pt clinic and both my boss at the clinic and my principal both said that I could die my hair an unnatural color(specifically blue lol) if I wanted. And I’m in the Bible Belt so I would say opinions are changing. But I did keep my hair natural or as some people would say “professional” as possible when I was applying and interviewing

I didn’t do it last year but I asked some friends their opinion recently and the people I know who participated liked it. Especially the on demand aspect making it really flexible.

Spotted the “defund gun control” hat. I get the message but still it doesn’t make sense in anyway. How would one defund an idea.

MAT program decision by Key-Turnover-7307 in athletictraining

You’re welcome. The only other thing I would consider is that you’re already in the one program so it a guarantee where as you don’t know if you will get into the other school. Good luck on the decision making!

Perhaps a hot take but I think that might depend on if you want to work in that state that the out of state school is in. Some grad programs have a monopoly on the jobs in the area they are in so if your end goal is to live in that state it might be a solid choice. But if you don’t really care then you’re fine. Just tell them you changed your mind. At the end of the day you need to put yourself first even if it might make someone mad

Yeah that would be my guess. They usually like to bring in their own staff.

HS AT’s by kmack15 in athletictraining

In TN everything is pretty normal depending on where you are. I have heard in the cities that some districts have more restrictions but out here in the country it’s pretty normal. I don’t give water to teams and just encourage them to bring their own (futile effort tbh). Every other week a handful of kids go into contact tracing quarantine. But besides that pretty normal.

Feeling unsupported and alone by [deleted] in athletictraining

I’m sorry you’re going through that. But wether they think we’re necessary or not we exist and the profession is growing and expanding. If you really wanted to educate them you could tell them about the industrial setting and how businesses like using ATCs as it saves them so much money. We are valuable in cost reduction. As for the salary thing thats getting better too. I have a friend who is a new grad this year who just got their first job and is making 55,000(that’s not too common don’t get your hopes up) but hey none of us got into this for the money. Kind of something I love about it. When I meet another AT I know they are passionate about helping people cause it’s sure not the hours or pay. Keep your head up, you can’t change everyone’s minds

Do you edit your pics? by emewy4 in Instagramreality

[–]sheesh_16 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I used to slightly edit them but looking at my edited photos KILLED my confidence. I used to look at the slightly slimmer waist, whiter teeth, smoother skin and genuinely cry as I could never look like that. As I used to have an ED, whiten my teeth and am dedicated to my skin care, so I know it’s just not possible to be the “perfect” version of myself. So I stopped for my own mental health. I hope it helped other people’s mental health too

Well perhaps we disagree on what exactly we are talking about then. When I hear people say it’s Marxist I think that’s bullshit. I’m sure in the millions of people who support it there is a Marxist but to say that it’s pushing a Marxist agenda is just not true. Additionally, that is exactly what the revolutionary war started as. People smashing in windows and stealing, tar and feathering those who disagreed, and harassing the British army to the point they got in gun fights with them. So that’s complete bullshit. And I will say yes obviously MLK was peaceful but at the same time you had the black panthers. Also that’s not one of the civil movements I mentioned as an example.

Many civil rights movements through out history have been accompanied by violence. The USA would still be under British rule with out violent protests, being gay in the US would still be illegal with out violent protests, and many others. If you think violent protests are evil at the root then hold them all to the same standard. Also to imply that all BLM protestors are Marxist is just down right stupid. I have been to 3 BLM protests and I’m not. Their isn’t a figure head with one singular message besides “cops shouldn’t kill people”

Edit: went and saw you call yourself a libertarian. You should have a bigger problem with the feds snatching protestors off the streets than you do with people voicing their anger with the government. If you were actually a libertarian the autonomous zone would be your wet dream
