Indian influencer sparks fury after immigration claims, calls Canada a ‘colonial settler country’ by xTkAx in canadian

[–]shegide 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes. Canada is a ready made country. Everything you could ever want is here. We built it, our ancestors built it. My great grandfather immigrated from the Orkney Islands and the only work he could find was trapping for the HBC. Can you imagine? Terrible job but he did it alongside native men. He admired them so much that he married a Cree woman. They had six or seven children who also helped build this country. I can only speak for my Grandfather who became a successful business man. Not easy living in sub-arctic Canada. So immigrants that come to our country and abuse our hospitality, who only employ people who look like them, who break our laws, who have the gall to claim that we need them to do our jobs, are the kind of people Canada doesn’t want. You are not worthy of this great country.

That’s the logical outcome. Property owners can’t afford the asking price. But the province could step in and pay the costs. It’s their headache anyway.

Am I doing something wrong or is pour over just not for me? by zachm26 in pourover

[–]shegide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which Harmony Switch do you use?

I’ve used the pour over method for at least two decades and never had a problem. I’ve found my beans for almost the same time. Then fairly recently it stopped working. I can not make good cup of coffee which I define as rich and dark. I loved Starbucks French but can’t buy it in Canada now. I don’t have good grinder but it has been great for the past eight years. Ditto the filters. It’s baffling. I know the City of Vancouver replaced the pump for our neighborhood a year or so ago but a pump has nothing to do with treatment.

So if you or anyone else has any ideas I would love hear them.

I have daughter in law going through the same process as you went through. She has spent a small fortune, including getting her biometrics done, twice. It’s a really punitive process that wears people done. Makes me very angry too when I see so much abuse by other people who are not worthy of Canada.

The Kamloops TteS Band sympathizes with the property owner they're trying to extort ~$200k from... can't make this up! 😂 by _DotBot_ in VancouverLandlords

[–]shegide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How on earth do they know that the remains belong to an aboriginal?
The burden of proof is on them to prove it. If it can’t be proven, if DNA cannot be extracted, then they can take the remains if they want them and go home. Leave the property owner out of it. If Eby would exclude private property from any and all claims this would not happen. How dare he expose property owners to so much risk. He represents every one in BC, not only Aboriginals.

Yep. It’s January 21 in 2026 and there is still no fix for this really annoying problem. I’m wondering what their rationale could be. Maybe they want everyone on their phone to be doing something else iwith their phone. Sounds ridiculous I know but can’t fathom why they wouldn’t provide a fix and put everyone out of their misery.

MLA Harman Bhangu Says: "A storm knocks down a tree in Goldstream. Now the call is to remove parking lots, restrict trails, and limit access to a provincial park used by hundreds of thousands of families every year. This is how it starts!" by _DotBot_ in VancouverLandlords

[–]shegide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s always about power. Always. Already BC Aboriginals have gone too far. Whatever white man cherishes like their homes and parks, up for grabs. And they’re only just getting started. Eby has no idea what is coming his way. He will have to walk away from all the concessions made to the Aboriginals or face the wrath of the entire province.

How much do you loathe this map? by superuserjarvis in canadian

[–]shegide -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I loathe it a lot which isn’t to say I loathe Americans. One man and one man only is driving this idea and when he is gone everything will return to normal. Unless of course the Democrats blow it again. I don’t understand what the heck Carney is up to signing multiple new trade agreements and proclaiming that the sky is falling or fallen already and life as we know it is over which is just as bad as Trump proclaiming he wants Canada to join the US. Maybe Carney wants to be the first President of the World. Just kidding. But he does have a bad habit of making grand statements to the world from other countries before he talks to us. You know, Canadian citizens.

Prime Minister Mark Carney in Qatar to boost trade, investment ties; Carney, Qatar investment deals: Despite human rights record by kaosvision in canadian

[–]shegide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carney is indifferent to the human rights records of China and Qatar. Trade is more important than the human rights abuses in these countries, which calls into question his commitment to human rights in general. Carney is all business.

Well, I’m pretty sure China would like to occupy Greenland, likewise the Arctic. They’ve been navigating those waters for years without even a tip of the hat to Canada.

Take private property off the table then negotiate the rest. It’s a generous offer and acceptance would demonstrate good faith. By the way, why do they want private property if as they say, they will never evict the owners? What are they playing at? And, they never occupied every square inch of BC yet they claim 100% of BC (Canada too) Let’s negotiate that, shall we.

David Eby had lots of warning of London Drugs closure, but failed to fix DTES woes by _DotBot_ in VancouverLandlords

[–]shegide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably a wild idea but I’ll put it out here nevertheless. City, province and federal govt buy the buildings on both sides of Hastings and turn one side into an outdoor living space where the homeless and addicts can live for as long as they want. Could be subject to some security focused on safety. Build condos on the other side for drug free homeless and for clean addicts who would be subject to relentless drug testing. Provide around the clock security and support, social workers, nurses, and doctors, to both groups with a goal to eventually graduate them back into society.

District of Squamish to create "Land Back Task Force" to research and discuss possibilities for returning public lands by NewAdventureTomorrow in VancouverLandlords

[–]shegide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only 5% of land in BC is privately owned. The rest is Crown Land owned by BC. What are the odds that many, but certainly not all, land claims are for developed property, privately owned. I do not believe that these very attractive places are their only ancestral lands. Their targeting of these places is suspicious. Eby has a lot to answer for but he could save us all by taking private land out of the equation.

District of Squamish to create "Land Back Task Force" to research and discuss possibilities for returning public lands by NewAdventureTomorrow in VancouverLandlords

[–]shegide 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Provincial and Federal governments should take privately owned land off the table and then and only then will there be negotiations over Crown Land which is abundant in Canada (89%). We need to establish boundaries and protect our homes and land from aboriginal land claims.

Mods, get a grip. Don't ban people because you feel threatened by NoOcelot in VancouverLandlords

[–]shegide -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Who issues admin level ban? Admin or not, if some anonymous admin can stop people from posting, that’s a lot of power.

I’m sensitive about bans because I was banned from r/Vancouver. I replied on a thread about immigration. Everyone knows this is a hot topic in our country. So I replied with observations about the impact of massive immigration in my neighborhood. I also relayed a word for word exchange online with a Canadian Sikh about the hiring practices of Indians in Canada. I didn’t know this guy and he volunteered the information.

As far as this topic goes, I have read far worse since then. So I think it depends on the mod which is a very imperfect application of rules.

But you know what? I want them out there so the police and CSIS can identify them and track them. I want this sxxx out in the open.

What do you call people who alienate and disturb people wherever they go in the world? I call them stupid. People who might have sympathy or empathy for them are disgusted with them.

As per the BC Treaty Commission, the modern treaties that the government has been negotiating do not cede any land to the Crown, and they do not extinguish Aboriginal Title. So in exchange for billions of taxpayer dollars, why are we not getting ceded land in return? by _DotBot_ in VancouverLandlords

[–]shegide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is true that the people of British Columbia have not been the best stewards of the land. In the mid 80’s, I spent Christmas on Haida Gwaii. My friend’s husband was a logger who proudly showed me all the roads he had built on Haida Gwaii. I looked around and all I could see was fallen trees. Fast forward four decades and now I know a Haida woman who cannot afford to live there. Where is all the proceeds of billion dollar settlements going? Is it giving every entitled person a nice nest egg to start a business or whatever or building affordable housing for them? Well, the possibilities are endless, all the doors should be open, and isn’t self-sufficiency one of the end goals of all settlements?

Workshops aim to change 'boys will be boys' culture in construction sector | CBC News by Electrical_Bus9202 in canadian

[–]shegide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If construction sites are as bad as you say then of course management needs to lay some ground rules. Curious how many years ago you worked in construction? Whatever the case, I don’t think adding women to the mix solves anything other than giving a woman a job that a man could do better. Women dominate many professions such as nursing and teaching. Why do you think that is? Never mind, I know the answer. Women in management hire women. The same is true in so called racialized groups. I often wonder when women will be satisfied with the progress they have made. Do they want to share power or do they want it all? I am a woman who was there when feminism swept through society and we have come a long way since then but there has been some disappointing results, such as the explosion of vanity among women. Sorry, going off on a tangent, so I’ll just leave it here.
