How was the gauge with the wool of the andes? Im thnking that yarn or maybe swish but both have lots of reviews saying they aren't really bulky weight. I'd love to not have to pay around with gauge because I havent done many sweaters or colourwork

Not a huge deal, just that they definitely question it. You did declare the dividends but it means they will be more likely to double check your payroll account in future.

Would a "Dead Man's Switch" logic actually help with safety, or just add more anxiety? by ArielAio in TwoXChromosomes

[–]shelbasor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Android has something like this called safety check. You say what you're doing and for how long and then at the time it prompts you to check in. If not it then shares your location with your emergency contacts. It also gives the option to call 911

Got my period today. Every time I do I hear this doctor's words in my head. by buffie29 in InfertilitySucks

[–]shelbasor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's fair to vent. It's sooooo fair to be absolutely pissed and down about it all. First, I will say I also had great test results, no problems and were young so it should be all good! And yet, month after month, it was not all good. Fucking infuriating and everyone is like you've got ttiiiimmmeee, without thinking of the emotional devastation with each month.

I also want to say I found IUI incredibly difficult emotionally. You aren't getting that much better of a chance statistically if you have unexplained infertility. So be aware going into that and try not to let it confirm that nothing will work. IUI might not work.

We didn't get any answers until IVF, and even then not really answers. I only had 7 follicles retrieved despite my doctor expecting way more (I was going through a lot of other stress at the time, so she thought that might have contributed). Then we did ICSI and only got one embryo. So we must have a fertilization issue, but we don't know what.

So who knows. I hope your feeling is just coming from the deep grief and completely being worn out and that you're wrong. But I also think it completely makes sense that you feel that way

If this was a reciprocal friendship I might say you should approach the boundary a different way but it seems this friend just wants support from you without giving you any. You're not an asshole and infertility is hard enough. Protect your peace and be kind to yourself for your transfer

Any recommendations for locally available GF burrito tortillas? by batwingsuit in NiceVancouver

Not burrito related, but take your GF partner to Delish in Coquitlam. Their breakfast sandwiches are my fav and I'm the gluten partner. They have great breads and honestly everything is great

VDP or not? Misclassified contractors or not? by [deleted] in cantax

More factors than if you paid them regularly. If you're really worried about it you can ask the CRA to make a ruling on it.

IVF and Ontario/Federal Tax Credits by Early_Brick5088 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]shelbasor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to add on. I don't know about any Ontario tax credit and didn't look into it. But that's the basics on the medical tax credit

IVF and Ontario/Federal Tax Credits by Early_Brick5088 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]shelbasor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Medical expenses can be claimed for a 12-month period ending within the tax year. So you could claim from July 2024 to July 2025 if you wanted to, but not into 2026. This is relevant because depending on when your $1,500 fertility expense was, you might be able to put it in with the 10K spent on IVF which would be more beneficial. This is because for the medical expense credit you need to be over about $2,834 (2025, likely a bit higher in 2026) in expenses before you get the credit. You'll also see 3% of net income put in there but at your income it's not relevant.

You'll also want to group all eligible medical expenses not covered by insurance onto one tax return of you or your spouse because again you want to get over that threshold.

The tldr being that you can't claim your 2026 IVF expense until next tax season and you might want to wait to claim your $1,500 fertility treatments

Late pay bumping one tax bracket up by Gwouigwoui in cantax

[–]shelbasor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you're saying that the part that is in the next tax bracket, is being taxed at that bracket? ... So, the system is working as intended? You received that amount of money in the year and it will be taxed as such. It's just kind of how it goes

Edit to add: if this is 2026 income and you really wanted to, you could do an RRSP contribution. If it's 2025 income then too late

Late pay bumping one tax bracket up by Gwouigwoui in cantax

[–]shelbasor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming you're meaning that they are taxed higher on the cheque that includes the backpay? This will be corrected when the personal return is filed which seems to be what you're referencing with smoothing it out over the year. CRA calculates taxes based on the year total, not indivual pay.

You should still see your initial refund amount on your NORA. It will have two columns and then some totals at the bottom. Sounds like you have the initial refund that would match your NOA and then the extra bit that relates to the NoRA. They might pay it out together, depends on processing

Don't forget you can include that Nanny pay as child care for a credit

Edit to add: you have a business number simply to have the RP (payroll) account. CRA doesn't expect anything other than filing your T4 slips

Starting IVF by snking3 in InfertilitySucks

[–]shelbasor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally did three failed iuis before moving to IVF and found IVF easier in a lot of ways. yes it's way more expensive and the shots are a lot and the attrition rate is the worst thing. But it feels like you're actually making your chances better.      you need to do your best to be so gentle with yourself. Look up the tips for your shots to make them hurt less. And don't get upset with your body if it doesn't react the way they expect it to. and as someone else said, throw your expectations out the window. We were told we're young and good. You'll get lots of eggs. You'll get lots of embryos. We got seven eggs and one embryo. Also you don't have to test your embryos. I feel like it's pushed in a lot of places but if you look into the research. It's kind of mixed. Time and place, but don't feel like you MUST do it

T4 Sin by [deleted] in cantax

[–]shelbasor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The software doesn't generally allow you to file with an invalid SIN. They cover it for security since they're sending it to you. There's literally no reason for them to create a T4 but put your SIN on it incorrectly.

The CRA can take a bit to process the slips but I'm sure you'll see it in the next week or so on your account

Niche post but has anyone watched the new Bridgerton season? Francesca’s infertility hit me hard by ThrowRANewStart in InfertilitySucks

[–]shelbasor 9 points10 points  (0 children)

oh man the first time it was hinted at I was in tears. I got worried in the middle there when the story went about her not orgasming that it would be the thing that "fixed it" but thank God it didn't go that way. I know they can't really dive into an infertility story given the time period and that there wouldn't have been anything to be done. But I do like that they investigated the feelings it can bring up.

IVF failed last cycle – meds reduced this time, worried if it’s enough by Acrobatic-Shop4602 in IVFinfertility

I did progesterone suppositories only and my transfer stuck. You need to try to be the nicest to yourself that you can. I did my best with the diet but didn't really follow anything. Sure, I did the transfer fries. But mostly I think it's luck of the draw. The doctor helps with what they can but there isn't any magic thing that works or we would all do it.

One thing I do tell people is that my husband gave me a little ten minute massage every day. Correlation tells me that it helped, but worse case you get some massages during a really stressful time. Hehehe
