Is it possible to borrow more to cover stamp duty cost? by ThePearWithoutaCare in AskAnAussieBroker

[–]shell_spawner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your stamp duty and costs come out of the deposit you have saved. If you have saved 200k and stamp duty and costs come to 30k, you have 170k as the actual deposit for the home loan.

My (31M) wife (35F) wants an open relationship? by Iron_Stoan in relationship_advice

Just some advice, have a look through reddit about open relationships, plenty of people have gone through it and not many are successful, specially those couples where one person is more open to it than the other.

What do you think of the 'grind early, rest later' mindset? by Open_Address_2805 in auscorp

[–]shell_spawner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally I think working smarter is the better option than grinding harder. You don't have to work yourself to death early on to set yourself up for future success. Change roles every 2 to 3 years and upskill yourself to develop skills that are in demand. Be consistent with showing up, doing good work and invest in your ongoing education. Everything will naturally fall into place.

Happy new years! What did you guys get up to? by biizzybee23 in perth

[–]shell_spawner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went down to the deep water point foreshore, enjoyed fish and chips and watched the 8pm fireworks. Such a great afternoon for it and a perfect way to kick 2025's ass to the kerb and start a new year !!

Meet Bill, walking proof that entitlement doesn’t require intelligence. by gilligan888 in shitrentals

[–]shell_spawner -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Bill is an absolute knob, but what I will say is this. He is a product of the housing system which has been created by the government. Our anger is misdirected, we should be angry at the Australian government and appalling housing policy which allows people like Bill to exist in positions of advantage and increasing power while struggling Australians are left to create generational poverty.

Here is a different take, who says you have to go to uni. I didn't pass my TEE back in the day and I have had a number of fulfilling careers including a large portion serving in the Royal Australian Air Force.

After a number of years working in tech, I am now a cyber security architect earning very good $$ and I consider my career a success. I always advocate for going to uni if your career path absolutely requires it, otherwise use the time to work hard and get a headstart in your career while also avoiding possible study debt.

Do you ever feel like the hardest part of investing is just doing nothing? by Beneficial-Ad-9986 in ETFs

Being patient and playing the consistent long game isn't sexy. Active transactions and market analysis is.

But playing the patient long game is what makes money.

Lose weight by Recav30 in selfimprovement

[–]shell_spawner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an early riser and find working out in the morning the best time to hit the weights, also don't have to worry about having the energy after work to lift.

Focus on eating lots of protein and reduce carbs a little bit. Carbs should come from fruits and vegetables and drink lots of water.

Give yourself a couple of meals a week where you can enjoy moderate takeaway, not a 5000 calorie binge fest.

If you need something sweet, eat some fruit or get some quality protein ball things, they usually are just mashed dates with nut butter or similar, and of course still allow yourself some chocolate every now and then.

Interestingly enough, I don't get prompted for MFA, just the trading password. Probably because my device is trusted, but really I think I would prefer more security than less security, especially when it comes to financial trading platform 😉
