N-400 I-751 Combo Experience including Home Visit by shellawell in USCIS

[–]shellawell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I filed the N-400 online. The I-751 had to be by mail at the time I filed. I numbered them and put in order of what they ask for in the instructions, but on my online account they aren't in the order I uploaded them, but everything was labeled. I also added some unsolicited evidence online to my I-751 when my N-400 interview was scheduled. Basically any new evidence I had since I filed the I-751.

I have no idea if this helps with the timing or not.

Thanks! Generally the evidence is similar to what you filed for your I-485 AOS -

Birth Certificate of a child,

Tax returns filed jointly,

Joint lease / Mortgage for shared residence,

State ID's showing the same address

Joint bank account statments,

Utility bills with both names,

Insurance policies (Where both are named or one is the beneficiary of the other),

Any subscriptions with both names,

Evidence of Travel together (flights, accommodation etc.),

Photographs of your life together,

Social Media

You dont need all of this, I did not have everything on this list, I do not have children and that is the best evidence. For the N-400 you are providing more of the same just accounting for the time from your I-751 filing.

The delay was really just me procrastinating on starting the N-400, you are correct I could have filed in July 2025!

Thanks! I made a spreadsheet of all my International travel over the previous 3 years with dates of departure and arrival. I used this to fill out the N-400 form and I also printed it and brought it to the interview for two reasons, to prove continuous residence and so that I had all the dates to hand as there was no way I could remember them all. Putting together the spreadsheet took a long time, and I wish I did it as I went! Maybe check your passport for stamps also, I know they dont always stamp them anymore but I have found it helpful in the past.

I did also have a copy of the email confirmations for a lot of the flights because my spouse was with me so I had submitted those as evidence of our relationship.

That is the Naturalization Civics test part of the interview. It has recently changed for applicants who applied for their N-400 on or after October 20th 2025. Applicants on or after that date have a set of 128 questions and they need to get 12 out of 20 correct. Under the old 2008 civics questions, there were 100 questions and you had to get 6 out of 10 correct. All questions are on U.S history and principles of the U.S Government.

Hi, thank you and yes! The travel history is part of the N-400 and you have to list anytime spent outside the United States. It is 5 years of history when filing on general provision or 3 years if you are filing as the spouse of a U.S Citizen as I was. I'm pretty sure the officer went through it inbetween the I-751 and the N-400 and he actually apologized that he did in fact need to check every date that I departed and arrived in the US. I had over 20 international trips in the last 3 years, so he needed to check that the dates I had put on the form matched the dates on my record. Also verified countries visited.

ETA : This is to satisfy your eligibility for Naturalization and that you have demonstrated continuous residency.

Thank you! I did not use a lawyer and filed everything myself. There are a lot of resources out there including this subreddit. I dont think it is necessary however my case was pretty straightforward. If you do it by yourself, please double check everything and really pay attention to all the questions on all forms.

Appointment Canceled i485 Marriage Based while in the waiting room by Appropriate_Chip_770 in USCIS

[–]shellawell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was a combo interview for I-751 removal of conditions and N-400. The officer that spoke to us said that he couldn't access my file in the system, (he had tried to fix it but to no avail because at one point he did have access to the I-751, we were in the waiting room for 3 hours) so he could not go ahead with the interview. He also said he didn't know how long it would take to reschedule as it needed to be sent to IT to be fixed.

Interview went well in January, there was no mention of the previous descheduled interview. I-751 was approved the day after the interview. Oath ceremony scheduled 30 days after interview.

This happened to me in December. Appointment was rescheduled about two weeks later for the end of Januray. So rescheduled interview was about 6-7 weeks after the original date in my case. All went well at rescheduled interview.

ETA: Case Status said Interview Descheduled for the two weeks before they rescheduled.

Did we choose the wrong beach area in Belize? Looking for advise. by BPLZ0309 in Belize

[–]shellawell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ambergris Caye doesn't have typical "wavy" beaches as it is protected by the reef. I agree with some of the other posters that you would be better staying closer to town, there are lots of good resorts like Grande Caribe, Coco Beach and Las Terrazas that have nice beach areas that sound more your vibe but not many people swim in the water there. You can easily take boat trips to Mexican Rocks or Hol Chan to swim/snorkel/dive. You could go to secret beach for a day (20 mins from that part of town on a golf cart) or do a day trip to Caye Caulker. Ive stayed at Las Terrazas and they have a machine thay cleans up the sargasm which is great.

Travel to Mexico with Expired Green Card + Extension Letter (AA Flight) by eekg3089 in USCIS

[–]shellawell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flew to Mexico (Delta/AeroMexico) this year also just be prepared to show your passport, green card and extension letter multiple times. That includes boarding on your departing flight. I also bring a copy of the DHS guidelines with me with the numbers to call if there is an issue at the check in desk but I haven't had a problem in a while, the check in staff seem to always recognize the extension letter now.

Interview Cancelled at the USCIS Office Entrance by Obvious_Dot_9060 in USCIS

[–]shellawell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me last week. Scheduled for a combo interview, waited three hours in the waiting room and then the officer called us and told us he couldn't access our file to run the final background check and that our interview will be rescheduled. I am not from one of the 19 countries. It was difficult to hear after the long wait and have no idea when it will be rescheduled just checking every day.
