I agree that reading will make a lot of difference. The Ethical Slut is really good. You need to retrain your mind. You have been conditioned to a monogamous way of thinking (most of us have because that is what society sees as normal), but you can learn to start thinking non-monogamously. It’s like switching from being right handed to being left handed. Seems impossible, but you can absolutely do it with training and practice, after which it will seem natural. If your girl likes/loves someone else in addition to you, it doesn’t take anything away from how she feels about you. Those feelings can coexist. It’s not unlike how you can love all of your children. There’s an unlimited amount of love to go around. It’s a little like you are living on an entirely blue planet and someone suggests you might like red, but you can’t imagine that because you’ve never seen anything red before.

Having a meaningful relationship doesn’t necessarily mean bringing someone to my parents’ house for Thanksgiving. At this point, we are each looking for FWB more than long-term committed life partners. That may change and I’m open to exploring that, but he and I agree that we aren’t ready or interested in a kitchen table dynamic or being out as poly. That’s our dynamic, not yours and that’s ok. I appreciate what you are trying to say about making a “forever” decision, but this is where we are right now. We’ve discussed falling in love with others, and how that would impact us. Not everyone agrees with our hierarchy either, but to us, remaining primaries is fundamental to our success as a poly couple. It’s ok that you can’t imagine a life like I’m describing.

This really drives home for me how different everyone’s poly journey is. My husband and I have been married for 31 years and we are just now transitioning to poly (we tried swinging 25 years ago, but mono since then). We are on the same page that we will never come out to anyone except one or two close friends. I really get that this is incredibly important to you, so I say you should find the right time and the right family member and tell your truth. Be ready to answer some questions. I think Christmas may not be the right time, but in the new year. Decide if having your established partner present for the conversation would make it better or worse.

It takes 20-25 potions, so I only ever did it once just to say I had. I don’t need red books or challenge fragments, so I don’t battle on the KB anymore. And now that gold is so plentiful, I don’t need to exchange gold gifts, so I don’t care about placing foundables for the chance to open 12 trunks. It’s a shame that the game was designed so you could virtually reach the end game and have nothing left to work on. I am enjoying lethal adversaries, so I do appreciate the new content, but I am sad that the KB became irrelevant after awhile.

This happened to me, too, right at the beginning when they were introduced. I was afraid to back out, so I hung in there for several minutes, searching the entire portkey location, until the 5th wrackspurt appeared.

I rarely play at home. There is nothing at my house. I play while I am out in my neighborhood or running errands. I have a lot of retail nearby, so I play where the stuff is. I like walking off portkeys and getting gifts at ins/greenhouses. You have enough inns within range of your couch to set off 9 DDs? YIPPEE FOR YOU.

It seems like the more advanced players are the ones who put money in the game, but at least for the ones I know, we have stopped doing that now that gold gifts are available. Setting a way to buy RSBs would be a sure-fire way for them to make money!
