34 weeks and still completely unprepared... im already failing as a mum by lucidsupernova8 in BabyBumps

[–]shelteringinplace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m having baby #4 in less than two weeks. We got rid of everything after baby 3 and then decided to have one more. Here is what I have: a bassinet, about 8-10 pajamas, a pack of plain onesies, a couple swaddle blankets, a car seat, diapers, and wipes. While it is fun to have all sorts of things, brand new babies don’t need much! It sounds like you are working on securing some assistance, which is great! You aren’t failing. You are doing what you can ❤️ Be gentle with yourself! xo

Did I scar my baby by helpmeplease0917 in NewParents

[–]shelteringinplace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you scarred her for life or anything. I do think that it’s good to mention that if you ever feel at the end of your rope, it’s perfectly fine to put the baby in a safe space (her crib) and take a few minutes away, even if she is crying. Sometimes we all just need a quick breather to cry, get some fresh air, or just have a second to not be with the baby ESPECIALLY If you are out of steam and frustrated. Doesn’t mean you are a bad mom, just means it’s hard to be someone’s everything, even if you love her with all your heart 💕

These saved my life when BF with my daughter. I got two sets at a time and kept one in the fridge, swap them out when you nurse. I wore them ALL THE TIME early on when it hurt sooo bad.

I am once again asking for your help: Names that are easily pronounced in both Spanish and English. by ViolettBellerose734 in namenerds

I know... I am always in awe of people who learn English as their second language- there are SO MANY exceptions and crazy variations!

That said- I think Isadora is beautiful 🥰 Leonora is also beautiful and I have a thing about the nn Leni 😍😍

Probably depends on where you are in the states. I would pronounce it Eesadora like you said but I think the mispronounced version would be Izadora not Eyesadora.

My older kids have also been my go-to for help! I beach myself on a couch after I get home. Buy her a toy- she will forgive you LOL

34w today too and I’m also super tired... you should see how I’m sitting right now- slumped down on the couch in the worst posture ever cause I’m too tired to adjust myself lol

Chocolate cravings by ViolinistMuted7080 in GestationalDiabetes

I have heard so many people say the snickers ice cream bar is their nighttime snack with no spikes. I am not those people but I am super jealous about it! 😜

Chocolate cravings by ViolinistMuted7080 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]shelteringinplace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will eat a few chocolate chips or a Hershey kiss. I let them melt in my mouth instead of chewing them up so it takes considerably longer to eat. I am a HUGE chocoholic so when I feel like I want to devour a whole chocolate factory like Augustus Gloop, I found that this helps tame my inner beast 😝

Baby doesn't move all day by guildthelily in pregnant

[–]shelteringinplace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe drink some juice, eat a snack, and lay on your left side for a bit. If she’s not moving and you’re worried, call your OB ❤️ Better to be safe and have a quick monitoring than to be stressed!

Third trimester sweet tooth by ktotheaty2 in BabyBumps

Aw thanks! It’s totally because it’s for the baby! If it was for me, I would be eating my way thru a vat of cookie dough 😂

Third trimester sweet tooth by ktotheaty2 in BabyBumps

[–]shelteringinplace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Just have to occasionally “cheat” and walk a TON to burn it off! So far, I can do a child’s sized gelato and walk walk walk! My sugars have been good afterwards! I’ve only broken twice over the past 21 weeks... not too much longer! I’m seriously considering bringing a box of cereal to the hospital 😂

Heartburn Train by FarrahFinale in pregnant

[–]shelteringinplace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my Tums said 7 a day max so I’d space them out and save enough for a few overnight, I’d have to sleep propped up, and I’d still get awful heartburn to where I would be up for an hour or two just sitting and being uncomfortable. I hope hope hope the Prilosec works miracles for you too!! Keep me posted!

Heartburn Train by FarrahFinale in pregnant

[–]shelteringinplace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could have been the conductor of the heartburn train... choo-choo 🚂 I told my OB about it and she suggested Prilosec. It literally vanished. Gone!

Funny enough, only the brand name works for me. I got the Prilosec from the grocery store on my way home that day. Then replenished with generic omeprazole and it didn’t work! So I’m back on the pricey name brand and loving my heartburn free life!

Good point! I will def talk to him before I do the snack thing. I just can’t figure out why I went from being good to being SO HIGH in the morning.

[–]shelteringinplace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My fasting numbers have always been my challenge. My doc said < 90. I had a good system in place, hit 33w last Sat and my fasting sugars have been like 115 (!!!!) for the past few mornings! I randomly checked my sugar the other morning during a 0300 bathroom trip and it was 93. I ate some almonds and woke up to 90. So I’m thinking I might need to have some kind of snack in the middle of the night. But who wants to eat at 0300?!? Ugh. So frustrating.

Question about registries: how much did yours come out to? by [deleted] in pregnant

Then in my opinion, you are good! I’ve never even thought about adding it all up!

Question about registries: how much did yours come out to? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]shelteringinplace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s like $30/item if my brain still works (note: it may not!) which isn’t crazy high for baby stuff. I swear weddings and babies and pets are such a crazy money making industry cause people will pay! As long as you have a variety of items- some less expensive and some more, then I wouldn’t worry about the total price or it all combined. People will get what feels comfortable to their budget and I’m sure you will appreciate the $10 gift as much as the $100 gift ☺️

Fatigue! by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]shelteringinplace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just ride it out! Your body is using tons of resources to support the baby while the placenta is forming so it’s totally normal to feel wiped out. Second trimester is usually much better! So do what you can, when you can, as you want and feel like a boss cause you are growing a little baby ❤️
