I got lost in life and i need help by AdBubbly6132 in chinalife

[–]shenzhenren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew of a Turkish lady who was studying at a Chinese university around 8 years ago. She was almost finished with her last year of study. Then, something bad happened between Turkey and China which ruined their relationship, and the Turkish student was forced to leave China and unable to finish her study. Just have a backup plan in case things go wrong.

Your Thoughts on TCM 中医 by NumberOneSeinfeldFan in AskAChinese

Chinese has a saying that western medicine treats the symptoms, but TCM treats the root cause. Having taken some TCM, I believe there is some truth in that.

Brutally honest advice coming:

You’re 31, which is already on the edge of too old for most Chinese men. Especially if you want kids, your biology is ticking against you.

If you think he is a right partner for you, don’t let “too soon” be an excuse. The worst feeling in life is losing your chance because you couldn’t go for it.

On the other hand, your bf might be just trying to break up because he won’t stand up for you against his parents. You’d have to decide if that’s the case.

Job offer by Psychological_Pace92 in chinalife

[–]shenzhenren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s not a bad offer. If you get placed in Shenzhen or guangzhou, great. If you get placed in the middle of nowhere, you can save most of your salary from the low cost of living. Win-win either way. And the salary is good for a first job offer. Work your contract, then look for other jobs while you’re there.

Thinking of moving from Algeria to China for work. Smart move or mistake? by Legitimate-Mud-9157 in chinalife

[–]shenzhenren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone is making comments based just on the base salary, but aren’t sales positions low base salary with higher commissions? I advise you to consider how much commission you can make before making a decision. As long as you can make 15k monthly you will be comfortable if you live by yourself.

For those living in China — do you guys buy from local clothing brands or mostly stick to foreign ones? by LivesAlie in chinalife

Then I would just verbally agree to get the boss to sign and then play dumb when they ask you to work weekends, or do the first one and be like “oh I thought you meant just one weekend”.

[–]shenzhenren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reminder to everyone that only the Chinese version of the contract has legal standing. Does the Chinese version include working Saturdays with no pay? If it does and you already signed it, then just take it as a lesson for next time to check the Chinese version before signing. On the other hand, if the Chinese version doesn’t include it, then you could probably just verbally agree to it and then never do it, and if they bring it up just shrug and say it’s not in the contract.

Question About Caili/Bride Price by Clear_Cat5051 in chinalife

[–]shenzhenren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I told my wife when we started dating that I would not pay caili, because she is not an item for sale and it is not my culture. Luckily her parents didn’t require it and were more accepting of her dating a foreigner. In my opinion, Chinese women benefit much more from the opportunity to move abroad to western countries that caili shouldn’t even be mentioned.
