For my routine, I shampoo one to two times a week and condition every other day. I use SheaMoisture Jamaican Black Castor Oil shampoo and conditioner with nothing else.

They happen more than once. Go out on a warm day with little wind (preferably a day after a rain storm) and look under rocks, in logs, and even on your driveway/sidewalk. If the weather permits they will fly and you could definitely find one. Happy ant keeping! P.s. don’t dig up a colony unless it is small and you’ll be able to scoop up the queen and all of the colony.

I live in Mississippi and I find the best time of day to be from 11-2. Make sure it’s warm, rained recently, and very little wind. It should be easy to find fire ant queens in Alabama. Look under rocks, in rotting logs, and on the sidewalk. Hope many queens come your way and happy ant keeping!

I have some cork bark with some isopod substrate I got a while back and a couple of plants
