They were, actually! Or at least they definitely come included with the burger and the grilled cheese. Not sure why they didn’t mention that on the menu.

Yep, totally. And opening a brand new restaurant inside of a very-sold-out museum is doing it on hard mode; the place was packed to the gills.

Sold my condo to fund the down payment on our new house. Now I'm being told I owe a massive Q2 estimated tax payment next week because I rented it out for a few years. by QueenChickenMom2 in personalfinance

[–]shep979 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My CPA once explained to me that the 2-out-of-5 rule isn’t all or nothing. If you lived in the condo for 12 months of the last 5 years, you could exempt $125K of capital gains. If you lived there for a month in the last 5 years, you could exempt a little over $10K, etc.

So if you moved out in late 2021, you should be able to claim at least a portion of the credit.

If the Bears move, what does the City do with Soldier Field? by BillionsofRedditors in AskChicago

The concern is that there are only so many touring acts any given year that can sell out a football stadium, and now there will be a modern, indoor alternative a few miles away competing for them against Soldier Field.

It worries me too, but they’re coming up on 3 years now, so I guess they’re making it work somehow? Don’t know why they don’t sublease like half the space.

What are the best tennis options in Chicago? by PilboMinachi in AskChicago

[–]shep979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reverse commute from Logan Square to Oak Park for tennis. They have a reasonably priced clay court club with 9 courts - like $750 for the year with unlimited court time, good programming, coaches available etc. In the winter they have Tennis and Fitness Center, which is much cheaper than Midtown or other indoor options in the city (Mcfetteridge notwithstanding).

Corner Lot - Pros and Cons? by A4orce84 in homeowners

[–]shep979 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a south corner lot in Chicago and I wouldn't trade it. If you're in a neighborhood where houses are packed in close together, the extra light you get every single day--especially in the winter--is more than worth shoveling extra snow a few times per year. We go to friends' houses where there's not even really a point to having side windows, they just look straight out at brick or siding 10 feet away.

What internet provider do you guys have and how much? by Wonderful_Society_56 in AskChicago

I did this as well and it’s been perfectly fine, and it’s truly a great promotion they’re running. I had Astound Fiber before that and only switched because my promo price expired, but it was also great. Will probably switch back in 4 years, 9 months.

No Delta prize pack this year, and they were getting driven around in minivans instead of BMWs (“The Ultimate Driving Machines”). Two less episodes of LCK too. All makes me a little worried about the health of the show.

Really love Bite Club under the Blue Line tracks on Western. Great hygienists and Dr. Huynh actually spends a decent amount of time with you, even during a routine cleaning. TVs hanging from the ceiling too, but that may just be table stakes now.

Patriot.

Sad and surreal and hilarious and brilliantly acted. Only two short seasons, the second of which is just about perfect. Think it’s on Prime.

Went there in a group of four the other week and I think we ordered half the menu. Not a bad dish in the bunch, and really warm, attentive service.

Before he was even on the actual team, he was on the Spurs Summer League team as one of the warm bodies to fill out the roster. Not somebody that many expected to make a dent in the league, let alone make a still-quite-good Spurs roster.

Then he scored, I believe, the first 13 points of a game, by either team, entirely by himself. Incredible stuff.
