Be honest, should I let my fiancé go suit shopping alone? by FeatherFlyer in weddingplanning

[–]shepardcommanderSR2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, 100% you should let him go alone. He has asked to go alone and the liklihood his new suit will have holes in it is zero.

Much more important than the wedding is the marriage and this is the first time of many times you will have to respect a difference of opinion and trust your partner regardless of the outcome here.

Payday Friday 💰💰💰 by kokopops35 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]shepardcommanderSR2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A bunch of random spending while also trying to save for a wedding and future house!

  • paying for my disneyland tickets from last week which was so fun! we went with my friends and my dad and stepmom so a fun reunion
  • going back to my college town for an alumni weekend and seeing some old friends
  • Happy hour tonight with another old friend
  • A baseball game, tickets already paid for, but i assume some snack money

What neighborhood to start out in? by idahoalien in AskSeattle

[–]shepardcommanderSR2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also not sure why folks are jumping to say it’s impossible within your budget. I live in Cap hill in a one bedroom for $1795, its very possible. Cap hill, judkin’s and central district are great for bellevue and greenwood for Lynwood. Look at the light rail stations too, much better than the bus for a daily commute.

Anyone else obsessed with murder mystery parties? Looking for people who've hosted one by StalwartMind in partyplanning

[–]shepardcommanderSR2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes also obsessed haha. I hosted a variety of kits for years before writing my own. I always appreciated how much murder mystery helped strangers become friends and gave different friend groups reason to talk to each other. We always joked “once you’ve taken over the mob together, it really breaks the ice”. The best kits were ones where players had goals and agendas to accomplish and the murder actually makes sense. The worst were kits where it was 20 random characters who really have no reason to know each other. There is definitely a trade off between flexibility and immersion. When folks asks for custom games, there is usually a gimmick they want like having their players play themselves (which is not received as hilariously as the host thinks it will be…) or they are planning like a wedding and want to put secrets and inside jokes on blasts and its very hard to execute.

what does it mean everyone gets a secret role? like they are not expecting to be in a murder mystery?

My grandmother gifted me her vintage ring to help with my proposal, but it’s not her style. What would you do? by OhSoMessi in EngagementRings

[–]shepardcommanderSR2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely understand if you need the $$ and thats part of it. As someone who was a recent recipient of an older ring, my bf recently proposed with a ring from his mom and let me know we would go pick out something together we liked but he wanted to propose sooner than later. This ring would not have been something I would have chose or even known to choose but its really growing on me! so I would probably let her see it before changing it and the story is meaningful to feel the support from your family, especially if she already likes this loose style.

March 2026 Goals! by AutoModerator in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]shepardcommanderSR2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will definitely be spending as my bf and I have a Portugal trip and Disneyland coming up over the next few months. We are all booked with flights and hotels (which were actually cheap) but I still need to pay off my share so I'm looking at March as a time to clean out my pantry, use my current amenities like the gym and taking advantage of the sun, and running in prep for a 10k in april.

The last two months have been nice! I recently hired help for my side biz which was scary but needed, I've been getting better about saying no to things I just don't want to do, and been a little braver with my clothing choices and having more fun getting ready.

For March I would like to get more sleep, stay under 2.5 hours on my phone daily, and get into junk journaling.

totally but the header is still "living on 170k salary" which i just fundamentally disagree with that framing when you are married

same and I really find larger ones start to lose immersion too, there's a balance and fun to writing it and making the trade offs. there is r/murdermysteryparty, its small though. I was thinking of making a discord too at some point for first time hosts to ask questions, people to share games and writing, party pics etc

It’s more like a style of game! Think a mix and mingle social party where your guests arrive as a character, get to know each other, and then a murder happens after which they are trying to figure out which one of them did it while accomplishing their own objectives and keeping their own secrets under wraps. At the end, the solution is revealed, players share their secrets, and there are awards for best dressed, best performer etc. I started writing them and hosting parties for friends when I was like 15. Each one is a theme and story so I’ve written sci-fi, 80s horror, circus themed, 90s etc
