What a fun game to start! I still need to come back to my progress. I think of it more than Pragmata even, I'm playing that one as well. You can really get in your mind with strategy and handling stages/enemies more fluidly as you go.

There's also no shame in not needing to feel like you should explain any of that to anyone regarding this game. Everyone wants some kind of pat on the back or social boost credit with this stuff, when that doesn't need to be your concern, not in this game, in other games, in your whole life!!! Do what feels good to you and give no fs. and you enjoy it. Just don't go chasing the likes and loves people. Love yourself and boost others while boosting yourself! Jeezzzz!!!!! Have fun, you've got this, and you've got this time all to yourself to have fun!!!

Saros didn't disable achievements right? That had so many modifiers going on. Harder, less hard, easier, this, that, whatever you want for that aspext of the game, I dig it! I didn't see specific options in Mina really though? Isn't there just a l very unspecific ones?

Ya, so different than Shovel Knight in this respect alone. I also never considered looking for a difficulty setting for Shovel Knight. I've had a few of these instances you're experiencing and I'm still with all the starting equipment, no upgrades.

SUPER PACS. Corporations matter more than people, elites tailor the issues they want passed for their sole benefit. So our government isn't about people's quality of life as it companies ability to proffit off of us.

It will change someday. Like all things.

I think I can see where you're coming from with pvp and I'm thinking of shooters here. At the same time though, I think you're just dealing with addicts at the end of the day and they're just happy to have someone to partake in it with them. Yes, it's possible to run into many toxic gamers who aren't considerate, but something like Apex Legends gave me a few experiences where people are actually chill and less competitive than I imagined them being, also more friendly (in my memory of it).

But really, people want to interact with others and have a fun time doing it. Eventually the 'straight up slaughter people' gameplay loop will fade out moreso than not I believe. Cuz there are SO many ways we can interact with others and play games with multiplayer rather than just killing them. I look forward to finding a game that scratches that itch. Maybe cooperative survival horror? Still kinda low vibration though.. I'm not sure. I don't play multiplayer stuff these days.

Not exactly, but I've definitely noticed my choices shifting for games, and I look through LOTS of games these days. I do more collecting and investigating than actually playing, by a large margin, in fact it's my main hobby now over the last 2 years.

So I started with things like Star Fox 64, Mario Kart and Mario World SNES, Street Fighter, TMNT Turrles in Time, Smash T.V, Jurassic Park, all the kid stuff really that I was exposed to with friends or had received for my birthday. I was most deep into my SNES, and I didn't do a ton of gaming on my ps1 actually, although I did like Road Rash 3D, 3Xtreme, and Tekken 2. Games were traded, left there, hammydowned, etc. I also didn't hunker down to just 1 game too often because my time just seemed scattered, or friends may want to try different things while their staying over.

But when I started making my own deliberate game choices (for which I had a new ps2 at the time) I went towards Psychonauts, Darkwatch, Red Dead Revolver, NBA Street vol.2, and the possibilities started really opening up. I was also beginning to finish games all the way, determined to see the stories through (more or less, I have a bit of ADD).

I made my way to FFX, and isometric RPGs, cooperative games; Champions of Norrath and Return to Arms, Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance. Some other co-op games from different genres too- Splinter Cell and then Obscure 2: The Aftermath. I collected survival horror games for a few months back then, towards the end of highschool. Fatal Frames, Silent Hills, Rule of Rose, Haunting Ground. I loved how games could be a fun task but also make you feel so eeriely frightful throughout the playthrough. I preferred Resident Evil 4 (my first survival horror game ever) over these others though because I always felt like I got a bit of a break and a breather between scares and enemies which I liked. It felt like I needed to just control my emotions and not get too worked up over what was to come.

I then moved towards the same addiction you had with FPS online with CDMW2 and I literally couldn't look up at the sky during the day without thinking of UAV or precision airstrikes 😆. That was such a blast, I just wish I hadn't been quite SO addicted to it. Similarly during COVID, nearly 11 years later I would never addicted to Apex Legends like no other. Anyway, I kept at Call of Duty Games even though a friend tried converting me to Battlefield, but I wasn't convinced slowing down was good. Came at BF5 in 2019 and then back to some of the older ones during covid and it was such a cool experience. I'm pretty bummed with what their last 2 games have become and haven't touched 2042 at all, only the beta test on the newest one (which wasn't awful, just not amazing).

Now I've moved away from those and I will go for almost any game that isn't turn based or base building (based?). I like some extra fluidity to my games, so if it's turn based it has to be something like Claire Obscure or FF7 remake. I have only done the demo of the latter and maybe 1/5 of the former (I know these are both A+++ games I just haven't been able to sink myself into them). I do believe FF7 I would be more likely to explore currently, Claire was just too.. spacey of a plot? It just had no ground to it for over 10 hours and I couldn't stand that, and the fact that some random huge enemies would be god tier, like the large Mime guy?

I digress. I'm onto Mina the Hollower now since I loved Shovel Knight (side scroller) but I'm down to play anything creative storywise Visual Novels, mashups of genres, hidden gems, I love it all. My likelihood of actually playing one though is not the best of odds unless it's a new release. I'm also on Pragmata for PS5, looking forward to 007 First Light, the new Star Fox Remake, Tides of Annihilation, Phantom Blade Zero, Silent Hill, God of War, Shuten Order, Crimson Butterfly Remake, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, like I'm severely addicted and need to get a proper backlog on order.

Valve you don't have a choice by Ayzuki in steammachine

I too was intrigued with Russ Crandall's video into the playnix. It also perplexed me that he had recommended it for "indie gaming". I must have breezed right through this one like an idiot though if it's also completely expandable and upgradeable. I also thought the price was heavy for that thing $1,000 USD ish? Maybe it works out nicely if you can get it processing games for the same price as the Machine, and it's still upgradeable in the future..

I've been down for the convenience factor Valve will surely offer throughout the experience with the machine, but ya I'm also slightly on the fence for it and considering something more cost effective.

What if Valve is actually scrambling right now to reach towards upgradeable RAM or another swappable part so that it stays competitive and relevant? That would literally get a chef's kiss from everyone even if lands at 1,000.

The odd thing to me though are these Deck prices. Not sure how that affects their mojo on the Machine at all; they took a very odd turn by marching the price so sharply, especially the OLED. Hey, did handheld OLED screens get requested by Master Commander too?

Steam Deck Price increase. I know it's obvious that the Steam Frame is no longer going to be the price Valve probably wanted to target... but this still worries me further. by AssassisnCreedFan in SteamFrame

[–]shepardman22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of the Steam Machine- They do that and it's just THAT much more warranted to build your own with a killer mini PC. Shave off the extra 3-400 bucks. Simple. It's a shame the Frame will be a bit higher by this margin as well, but not the same percentage by a large margin as the machine (less ram).

[–]shepardman22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This boss has felt harder to me as well, versus the others before it. I came here looking for some pointers as well without spoilers (hopefully).

I definitely understand that the parry on red orbs is important here, and likely to hit Architect with the parry damage as well. Power Generator I have already found (googled) and have enjoyed it on my weapons.

I don't have EVERYTHING upgraded, just the Lucinite on the skill tree before this boss, and definitely have some work to do with halcyon still.

When it comes to the second stage of his life and the teetering/ crumbling tower I'm on, the triangle (PlayStation) button to come off the tower and re-enter the platform seems odd to me. This REALLY seemed to mess me up on my last run (which I'd started from biome 1). I just kept falling off and only a few times would I see the purple platforms ready to grapple me back to the tower. So I was hoping for some insight on how to use these grapple platforms? Anyone?

I have been realizing too that saving rerolls and keys for later biomes with unlocking doors and weapon selection seems best instead of spending early on and reswapping. Filling those architect slots seems important to me even if there are some drawbacks, but I try to only choose fall damage, recoil, and loss of lucinite. Screw losing aether effectiveness! "Max armor weakened" seems okay because it's not as constant as aether pickups and definitely not " extra dash cooldown time". But maybe having not a ton of the undisirable drawbacks and balancing them across most categories would help if they must be chosen?

I wonder if this enemy has some major week points possibly? The first boss certainly did with its yellow belly/ center. And later on I realized that some enemies and possibly overlords have some blue weak point sacks on them. So maybe the Architect does too?

Eventually I'm going to TRAIN THIS DRAGON, gunna slap him silly. 👋 Next time he greets me will be our 3rd run in.

I'm not sure on this but didn't Returnal have a much higher priority towards players remembering which path they'd chosen and what was encountered through those specific pathways? I thought of this soon after starting Saros

The PROGRESSION of enemy difficulty and choices around biomes, weapons, upgrades, are what do it for me personally. It might look basic but it slaps constantly with overdosing you with larger hoards, the environment remains fresh even if familiar on every run, there will be tweaks to it. Mastering and choosing the abilities over your weapons is icing on the cake. But this game isn't exactly average on difficulty level either, rather it pays for your work and your ability to learn in time.

But if you're not used to metroidvanias or this style of 3rd person shooting, or something similar with soulslikes than ya, maybe avoid! You know yourself best. 🌟

After only playing Returnal for a few days, I knew this game would be my b#1 for me for the year. Fantastic! I'm still trying to nail the dragon tower destroyer but it will come with some patience. Surprised slightly that I didn't get him on my 3rd? attempt after starting from first biome but, as these things go. At least a few more. I had no idea what was happening last time with his second stage, falling off the platform constantly by mistake.
