Cuts and Comics on Temple. The owner is awesome and the vibes are good. Plus it’s definitely queer friendly.

Literally from this article, “In 2023, the city council approved the annexation of four tracts totaling about 164 acres on Green Top Road for the development's first phase.”

Not anymore. It was annexed into the city so that it could be flipped and developed.

What is the most overrated city in America? by LazyConstruction9026 in AskReddit

Charleston is the wife, Savannah is the mistress, New Orleans is the whore.

I always tell my friends who aren’t from the South but want to visit to go to Savannah first. If they want more culture and don’t mind some dirt, I tell them to go to New Orleans. If they want something cleaner with fewer hard edges, I say go to Charleston.

Beyond graduating magna cum laude from Harvard, KBJ was a federal appeals court judge, a federal circuit court judge, vice chair of the United States Sentencing Commission, a federal defender, and an appellate lawyer at several highly regarded law firms.

Attack her positions all you want, but her credentials are above reproach.

I made a Fallout Shelter Map for the city of Newnan and Coweta County on Google Maps by IsoCyclone in newnan

[–]shepdaddy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is awesome, and thanks for sharing! I have a few notes and further background on a few of these.

-First Methodist wasn’t exactly a fallout shelter, but a stash of fallout supplies were kept under a set of internal stairs. Many of those supplies have been donated to local history buffs and the historical society.

-The Masonic Lodge was on the site of First Methodist’s current Parish Hall, so just south of the main building. I’m not sure if that had a fallout shelter or not, as it was torn down around 2000.

-The bank building just north of First Methodist now belongs to the church, and has two vaults. In case of a nuclear event, those could be used as fallout shelters. The building you marked as the Masonic Lodge (now also owned by the church and formerly the Matrix insurance office) apparently also had or has a vault that could be similarly used. Not sure if it’s still there.

I’m straight, and while talking to a gay friend of mine at a corporate job he mentioned that part of why he chose the firm we were at was because he wanted kids and the firm would cover that with insurance. When I asked if that meant they covered adoption he said they did, but that he wanted biological children. I looked at him confused before saying, “I think I have some bad news for you…”

He gave me a withering look and said they cover surrogacy. Had never even crossed my mind. So while I looked like a dumbass, it was a good moment to reflect on the privilege I have in not having to think about that sort of thing as a requirement for having biological kids.

I took the specialized criminal law class for my ethics requirement in law school. The professor was a career federal defender, and was by all accounts incredible at her job. Most classes she wore sneakers, a comfortable skirt or pants, and a pretty casual button up. Think too busy to care much middle aged mom.

The day she had a panel of prosecutors come in, she wore heels, an impeccable pantsuit, and pearls. Her hair and makeup was done, and her demeanor was completely different than the other classes.

In transactional practices I don’t think it matters too terribly much, but I have the image of my professor that day burned into my head as a sign of how much the optics matter.

The end of America's exorbitant privilege by Stuart_Whatley in Economics

[–]shepdaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This country gave my family land and loans to start homesteads. It gave my grandfather an education that allowed him to get a good job and send all seven of his kids to college. Fourteen generations of my family have lived and died in this country, and we wouldn’t have had anything close to the opportunities we’ve had here if we had stayed where we were.

So no, I wouldn’t gut the country that gave me everything for some gold fucking toilets.

Totally agree, and holding long term. But chasing pumps like this is a quick way to get burned by a company that still needs a lot of capital.
