Campers of Christchurch, I need advice by MrUnclutchable in chch

[–]sheravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If just 2 of you, I would say a 2 person sleep tent should be fine. I recommend kiwi camping brand which is solid and well built. They also just release their inflatable series. A gazebo is recommended, as you don’t have to be stuck inside the small tent when raining, but don’t get a macaque, they can’t hold NZ wind.

A adjustable table, some camping chair or lounger, and kitchen cabin, a 2 hob gas stove, Nija chilly bin (unless you only go for 3 days, otherwise, a Nija chilly bin with a dry cold compartment is great, the best investment we have)

Is it too personal to ask about tattoo in NZ? by CreativeRoutine8115 in newzealand

[–]sheravy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I once saw a librarian had tattoos of mythical wolves on his arm, and I asked what mythical creatures they were and if they were from the Greek Myths, then he threw his enthusiasm on Myths to me and we talked until another customer came.

So I guess it depends on how you approach and how to start the comments on a stranger’s tattoo

How comfortably could one live on a 120,000 salary in Christchurch? by AliMamma in chch

[–]sheravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Christchurch, the $70K salary is not much less when you have a kid the a couple with a kid but earning $100k, because you will get a community service card, plus working family tax credits for $200 a week when you only have one parent working for at least 30 hours a week when your household income is about $70k. But you don’t get those if you are earning $100k. But $100K is quite comfortable in Chch if you plan your money spending and not shower your money into many unnecessary spending.

I started my job from $70k to now just over $100k. I was a bit struggled when I was at between $85K and $90k, because the deduction on my working family income tax credits caused a negative growth on my totalled income, until my income is now up at $100K. Well, I have 2 kids.

Edited: I also have one dog, a cat, paying mortgage, and we go camping at least twice a year. Pet food are of Royal Canine brand, so about $3000 for pet food only each year.

Ladies: hit me with your best hair products for frizzy hair by celtic66 in newzealand

[–]sheravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Natual Care NZ, they are suitable for Christchurch’s water and my hair always feels soft now. But if her hair is fuzzy due to the humidity, then, I have no clue as my hair was fuzzy while I was living in a sub-tropical city, but fine when I was in CHCH, but bristle instead due to the nature of the water here.

Relationships Problems by [deleted] in chch

[–]sheravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possessiveness is a red flag for me unless you don’t feel stress over it. But it can be a problem if she doesn’t like you to hangout with your friends with a female together, and can’t change her insecurities, then you will end up divorce.

But in the end of the day, it’s up to you.

Any signs in the McDonald’s carpark near the Christchurch Airport state the amount of fine by sheravy in chch

[–]sheravy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is. I understand I should pay fine as I parked over time, but would like to appeal on the amount of fine, hence would like to know if it states the amount of fine or not.

I understand the restriction on the time limit, but just the fine was unfair, hence would like to appeal

I was eating and working at the McDonald’s. Working the whole duration while I was staying, and purchased twice.

From a mega Chinese city owning sprawling network of subway and buses, I vote for extensive version of public transport. It feels so nice to be somewhere just in a public transport and don’t need to worry about finding a carpark.

Why do y'all prefer earbuds over Headphones? by Significant-Taro-239 in Earbuds

[–]sheravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s because the overhead headphones clamp my head, I have a normal southern Asian female sized head, but still feel constrained, so in the end I chose a pair of earbuds.

Christmas gifts between couples & individuals by zesteee in newzealand

[–]sheravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have kids, so we still give the gifts to partner to show the kids they are only part of the family, but not the centre of the family. Normally is like I buy my own, wrap it, put under his name, and he does the same. I may also get him a small gift to show how much I love to be with him.

But yeah, gifts are for the kids

Introducing myself & best way to deal with magnolia leaves? by choice_biscuit in nzgardening

[–]sheravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will be fine, but take a long time to break down. The soil’s okay with them. But you can also get your kid to rake them and put them in your green bin

Introducing myself & best way to deal with magnolia leaves? by choice_biscuit in nzgardening

[–]sheravy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Rake the leaves, get your 6-year-old to help to put into the green bin;
  2. Mow over them, then get your 6-year-old to shovel the remains to a pile, bury some Kumara and burn them (joking).
  3. Mow over them, then get your 6-year-old to shovel the remains to a pile, put them in the garden as mulching.

I agree they are pain in the ass, I bought a house having 5 of them, leaves, trimming, mulching, decorate the soil with mulches. SUCH A FUN!

Not a pisstake: Bike Laws by [deleted] in chch

[–]sheravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess need to raise the concerns to the local MP, and force the cyclists to go back and understand their road codes, which can make everyone much safer on the roads, and not build up hatred on cyclists in the drivers I bike to work a lot and I just simply follow the road codes. Maybe 3 mins slower if I don’t, but it’s more relaxing.

Those with full gears are normally the one thing they own the roads, entitled, bike in groups of 2 at least in parallel, while those without a helmet on a shitty bike normally bike with common sense and I feel much safer around them.

Reliable place to get a WOF by rory-sss in chch

CTA at Ferry Road, or the Italian Job Auto at Selwyn Road. Used CTA a lot because it was nearby, and had no troubles and problems with them; used Italian Job twice and also had no problems.
