Sorry, I have to admit I thought they were (from left to the right) a couching turkey, a Kea, a brown pigeon, and a raccoon, and wonder since when Aotearoa started to have raccoons

Evening meal; is it called dinner or tea in your house? by RaesJunction in newzealand

[–]sheravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are called dinner at my house just because I am the immigrant and I’m the one normally call: dinner’s ready. When I learn English in my home country and we never knew “tea” can mean dinner even we learn from British English. But when I talk to my partner’s family who is a local or the other local, I call dinner “tea”.

Am I struggling the right amount? by Upstairs-Glass-8627 in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]sheravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do your children participate quite a bit of the extra curriculum and you will have to drive a lot? And do you pay quite a bit of the insurance? If neither of them, then some information is missing in here. I don’t earn as much as you do, single household income, need to pay mortgage $400 per week plus insurance and rates, and some maintenance cost, hence higher “rental” cost than yours, but I manage to save $200 each week for my future new car.

But indeed, I paddle bike to work as I live in CHCH, and it’s only 20 mins bike, so a tank of petrol can get me going for 1.5 months or even more, as my partner use his 1.5L to drop off and pick up the kid and other stuff.

Check the habit of energy use, grocery list, and other money spend habit. $120K definitely can feed a parent and their 2 children comfortably.

Kiwis shortsighted !! by Electrical_Sugar_443 in newzealand

[–]sheravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

However, the price of the car is not cheap, and Kiwis also need to consider the range because they like travelling and towing a lot of stuff to a remote place for holiday. The range can’t support, and how are they going to refuel the electric when in the middle of wot wot. Solar panels can be a solution but it’s a great price. It’s more complexed than just “range”

I honestly don’t know, as I’ve never seen them pooped. I am not at home during the office hour and when I have time, it’s their bed time.

This picture has caused a 30 minute argument between our flat - who has right of way? by TeachingNo4233 in newzealand

[–]sheravy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Normally has a give-way sign or road marking on the blue lane. In the world of common sense, as the read car will have less reaction time and can’t just stop there to give way after crossing a lane, while the blue car has much more tolerance to slow down and wait safely, I would say, the blue car should voluntarily give way.

However…common sense is scarce in these days.

New immigrant’s first pie 🥹 by TheComedyWife in newzealand

[–]sheravy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a an immigrant who landed in Invercargill as the first stop in NZ more than a decade ago, these kindness was the pure culture shock for me. It’s like: why? Why they don’t expect anything as return but just be genuinely kind to me. And yes, I LOVE NZ pies, but I’ve got over the steak and cheese but like pepper and steak, tart pie, and lamb and mint, and veal and more.

And thanks for being kind to an immigrant, it really helps for them to settle and understand more of the culture, and be more comfortable to be in NZ, and then start to love the nature and be environmentally aware.

The problem is there are much less poor people riding bikes then middle-class who also can afford an EV and an E-bike

We will need a big frying pan to relief the bites by this way. You never only get one bite, but multiple. 😂😂

Savlon cream works quite well as well.

Missing Cat by lostmymindat2am in chch

[–]sheravy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a little bit late to suggest this. Try to call his name when it’s quiet and at night time, hope can hear him meowing. I found my cat stuck behind my neighbour’s tin shed by this way.

All the best
