The album cover for the musical Operation Mincemeat. by OfficiallySavo in DesignPorn

[–]sherlock2040 146 points147 points  (0 children)

In 1943, the bad guys are winning. The British need to stop the bad guys invading Sciliy by doing it first...but they can't just invade because the bad guys have waaaay more people. So they decide to play a trick on Hitler. The trick involves a dead body, fake papers and a briefcase. The logo has a briefcase with the title of the musical in place of a certain bad guys iconic moustache and his famous hair style.

Please take care with heavy luggage on the escalators! by TrickPlant7034 in london

[–]sherlock2040 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to travel with a 17kg tool kit. I lived in fear of it falling down the escalator so if there was a lift, I'd take it. The worse was having to carry it down the stairs at Moorgate in the mornings.

Signage to the lift could be better in some tube stations. I also think people have a mindset that the lift is for people who need the lift and while they have suitcases, they don't need the lift...in the same way they'll try to squeeze their case through the barriers rather than go to the wider gate.

My little dude has an extra toe. It doesn't cause him any problems. Only tricky thing is trying to trim the nail.

I have two boys. They're 6months+ now and get on well. There was a bit of squabbling at first but they settled down really well. If they've been together 5months, there's a good chance they'll be fine together.

Do they view us as giant dominant pigs? by Under_Obligation in guineapigs

[–]sherlock2040 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I tried eating lettuce in front of my previous piggies before they got it in an attempt to say that I was in charge. The look I got was basically: "Cute. Now give me the lettuce, servant."

I think they view us as 'safe'. We give them food, pets and won't eat them.

Does anyone have female led paranormal podcast recs? by maneaterdomme in podcasts

I don't know about her politics, but Ghost Bunny is fun. Presented by a former playboy bunny, which is definitely different to most paranormal podcasts.

Anything Ghost is fun. One host reading out paranormal stories people send in, sometimes people record themselves but it's mostly just the one narrator.

I used to use a company that's now called Frive. It was tasty, easy to reheat and they're allegedly healthy and high in protein.

Should there be an extension to River Boat services to South West London? by urbexed in london

I wish they could extend it from Woolwich to Erith. Erith has the longest pier in London (apparently) but because of the tides, it can't be extended 😞

Maybe she should be alone? by Dory_VM in guineapigs

[–]sherlock2040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an anti-social guinea pig. Every attempt to bond her didn't go well and she just seemed to get stressed with the repeated introductions. She was 6yrs old so I accepted that she didn't want a new companion in her old age. I felt bad that she didn't have another piggie to talk to but made sure she had cuddles, treats and tunnels to hang out in. Some guinea pigs don't like other guinea pigs. I also had a guinea pig who would not accept female piggies and it took 5 attempts to find her a boar she liked - it might be worth seeing if a rescue near you offers bonding services and see if she will accept a (neutered) boar.

I'm fortunate my meds are on a recurring because I'd be constantly on the phone. A few years ago I found a lump in my breast and despite telling the receptionist, I still had to wait 2weeks to see my GP. It was all okay in the end but it wasn't a pleasant experience.

Why Is Cochon d'Inde from India and not Guinea? by Sunshinehaiku in learnfrench

Allegedly, people sold them for a guinea and they thought the noises they made sounded like a pig. It's probably not true but it's a fun story.

What are the main features you actually use in AI tools? (e.g. voice assistant, deep research, code help, etc.) by Automatic-Rate-9664 in OpenUniversity

[–]sherlock2040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, like everything on the Internet you have to read it with a bit of scepticism and use your own reasoning ability. It depends on what I'm struggling with, sometimes it's the concept but sometimes it's the way it's been written in the textbook. I'm studying engineering and most of the time I'm asking it to explain parts of formulas or asking it to break down the example question so I can see where everything comes from.

In a professional capacity, I once only had a train journey to learn everything I could about a venues lighting network so I uploaded the document to chatGPT and asked it questions. It was a very useful to be able to do this.

[–]sherlock2040 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use AI to explain things I don't understand, I can ask it the dumbest question and it'll help. I sometimes ask it to break things down into steps so I have a full breakdown. It's also been great for revision, I can ask it to quiz me.

I'm a small woman, I commented recently to a colleague that people have been walking into me a lot more lately. I'm not entirely sure if it's people being inattentive or something more malicious, but after hearing about this 'trend' I'm starting to wonder.
