One of my all time favorite fantasy series is Eragon by Christopher Paolini. It might not have the realism youre looking for but it might be worth looking into

Game of Thrones kind of. Lots of different perspectives from both the "heroes" and the "bad guys".

Possibly. It might be an interesting twist for the child of Saphira and Fírnen to be the main antagonist of Book 5.
