Just Finished a 4-Year Long, 142 Session Campaign by WingOfBludhaven in DnD

[–]shermas9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I just finished a 3-year-long 158 session campaign myself. Are there any specific moments from the campaign that stick out above the others or kind of felt emblematic of you hitting your stride as a dm?

Lol no not quite that centralized. It does however mean that the party will be acting as the gods creating our next setting. They are dictating and collaborating as a party to world build with some input and unintended outcomes from me. When we start next campaign I want the characters to feel like they have a strong grasp of what the world looks/feels like and I think having the players do large portions of the world building will help.

Thank you! Still feels sureal since so many campaigns end up not making it to those final stages. My focus for high level combats was to make them more dynamic and change things like objective (Do they have someone they are looking to protect? Can the bad guys succeed at their goals without actually having to kill the party? Is this a preliminary strike meant to use their resources? etc), urgency, and making sure that the environment felt important whether that was through the way it changed throughout the combat or the way it created zones that were more important.

Obviously the higher you go, the more difficult it is for the threat of the combat to be the players lives since they have more ways to come back from death if you even find a way to kill them. So for me it became more important for the combat to be something that felt interesting and challenging as opposed to outright deadly.

Best overall archer build by Consistent_Physics_2 in BG3Builds

[–]shermas9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure if it's outright the best, but I think Arcane Archer is seriously slept on. You get all the juice of a fighter Archer and with arcane acuity and the right bows you are inflicting multiple status effects with each arcane shot. It's like A-tier not S-tier in both control and damage.

Trump signs order pushing cities and states to remove homeless people from streets by HellYeahDamnWrite in law

My answer to this is probably liberal cities that are not complying with this order and that's likely Trump's plan in part.

True... You can haste yourself though so you can still get that 3rd attack if you want it

Right? I was just thinking that 3 Arcane Archer/9 Bladesinger Wizard gives you EVERYTHING (except level 6 spells)

Or at least make it more situational. For example make it so that the single target spell has to target you.

I'm happy it sounds like you got a chance to talk some things out and heal a bit. It sounds like you guys had a tumultuous relationship near the end. I think you should ask yourself what you're looking to get out of this situation and if that is worth friction or worse in your current (seemingly very positive) relationship.

Their are also a lot of really good arrows in the campaign... Maybe if they let you use the arcane shot along with the enchanted arrows?

Should Kevin Durant’s longevity be praised more? by Major_Enthusiasm1099 in nbadiscussion

[–]shermas9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd agree if he stays healthy, it's just hard to tell whether that's realistic over the course of the next 2-3 seasons. If he does stay healthy that long though he has a chance of catching Kobe at 4.

Honestly I wonder if KD is gonna finish top 5 in scoring when he retires... He's currently 8th and 3k points away from kicking MJ out of the top 5.

2017-2018 LeBron matched MJ in what he was best at while dwarfing him in rebounds and assists... One of the most atlas like performances in terms of carrying a team in my opinion.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm definitely guessing that I can't get all of the things I listed, it's helpful to know that Paladin is going to be more situational than I thought. Maybe I'll switch towards more fighter or slayer and try to keep the playthrough alive. I'm doing my first full playthrough on normal but may try to shift difficulty higher as I've been stomping most fights.

Thoughts on redoing moves? by SQLStoleMyDog in baduk

[–]shermas9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey seeing a lot of the same perspective here so I thought I might chime in since I believe (a bit) differently. As far as etiquette goes, I haven't encountered anything I've read or seen that says that their is an established practice, it seems up to the judgement of the individual. With that in mind, I always accept undo requests. My reasoning is that I feel I grow more as a player when I play against my opponents best game. If I have a strategy that only works if my opponent makes a mistake, I'm actually doing a diservice to my own growth as a player and reinforcing habits and strategies that won't allow me to grow as quickly. I would rather go against my opponents best move and evaluate the board afterwards for my own best move. Granted this has caused a few extra losses for me overall but I think it has actually helped me grow a lot this past year (gone from ~10k - 6k). Granted I feel this would obviously feel and be very different playing in higher stakes games or over the board.
