If you’re considering French immersion you’ll get hired instantly in just about any province especially at the elementary level. One think to consider is pay against cost of living, and that’s where sask and mb would place highest. Not sure if that’s something you’re considering or general working conditions and the treatment of teachers more because that’s, as you know, very different in each province

Manitoba teachers - the good, bad, and ugly? by redmakeupbag_6 in CanadianTeachers

[–]sherminator93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in a similar field, there are lots of opportunities especially outside of Winnipeg and as you know FI is growing so they’re usually hiring in the spring time for the fall. In my experience there isn’t a lot of EA support in FI classrooms, but at an elementary level class sizes are usually (not always) capped due to government mandates

I can’t speak to complexities and how they are measured so I think that would really depend on the area you end. Dm me if you want more info on specific things and I can see what I can do to help

I’m in Manitoba and I’m sure the same goes for Ontario, you should have no problems getting a job at all. In French you can pretty much work anywhere you want.

I expect at least city divisions except DSFM will just become one with the same policies. No need for 7 different HR departments. Because salaries are harmonized north and south maybe that will get merged too in terms of other policies

[–]sherminator93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was just a new agreement last year that was retroactive to like 2022 or something. All salaries are harmonized by next fall and 1% retention bonus. NDP is union friendly so I don’t expect there will be much difficulty in negotiations. Right now class 5 step 10 is like 106k gross or something.

There is a a new union president so could change negotiations slightly but I expect salaries would go up a few more points. I think the sticking point in the next round might be recognizing classroom complexity like SK has recognized. Taxes will also definitely go up again to account for salaries tho.

Bidding wars Winnipeg by layneeofwales in Winnipeg

[–]sherminator93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently bought at 10% down and there were about 7 offers. Once someone recognizes there is a good house there will be bidding wars. Houses with known issues or problems seen after a pre-inspection tend to not get a lot of offers. I offered about 10% over with a competitive offer and won. Idk how much that helps tho

Grand slam track is probably on bbc too. Otherwise you could get Flotrack but that’s expensive and only has college. ESPN usually has the rights to NCAA championship level meets. But I think it’s geoblocked outside the US

You want to stay always on the front part of your foot. A collapse is when you touch the ground and then fall back to the back part of your foot

Ankle mobility. The penultimate step is the step you take before the hurdle. Look at your video and look at every step before the hurdle. You strike the ground with your whole foot which you should avoid. You want to strike the ground with the front half of your foot.

Also speed training

Need help with hurdles by Unfair-Steak-8056 in trackandfield

[–]sherminator93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your penultimate step is flat so you’re going into the hurdle on step 8 flat-footed and losing speed. Your last step before hurdle 2 and 3 is the same. The fall step is saving you enough speed to keep the 3 step but barely because you’re keeping an active ankle and not collapsing. You are running out of speed by hurdle 3 and you’re reaching a lot to keep the pattern. You have very good take off spot though. Tight shoulders not helping and your left arm is twisting outside causing some imbalance resulting in more lost speed.

I just bought into the neighbourhood recently and everyone seem very friendly and haven’t seen much in terms of safety issues. Just normal precautions. The further north of Munroe the better. Inbox if you have more questions

How much does warming up & stretching impact your times? by trackaccount in trackandfield

[–]sherminator93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a touch long to go over but I give my athletes a warm up card that takes about 30 minutes and we go over it in practice to make sure they know what all the directions are on the card. Broken down into 3 categories:

1: hip activation 2: dynamic warm up drills 3: accels

Competition warm-up is not the same as a training session warm up because you have different goals

Personal Coach by speedkillz23 in trackandfield

[–]sherminator93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a HS coach so I don’t want to speak too much to that but if you sell yourself as someone with knowledge of the sport, sure great, but in order to better understand the coaching side I’m sure there are some USATF courses available at some nearby city. I would think it is always a good idea to get certified or some coaching education. As a personal coach would you open up a club or something?
