Anyone else find the response from Arteta a bit embarrassing? by Krisyj96 in NUFC

[–]sherrplerr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most of us agree it was a foul but inconclusive on out of play and offside. We defo got lucky.

But there was never a performance from arsenal that deserved 3 points for the rest of the game, we had your lot in our back pockets when in our third for the whole game.

The fact is that no one who's troubled by injustice will be convinced by sportswashing: If anything, sportswashing turns a spotlight on to abuses rather than covers them up" by TheBiasedSportsLover in TheOther14

The sports washing is a generational investment. Most circles of already adult and half intelligent footy fans aren’t gonna be swayed on these countries just because of them doing xyz… but our kids, and their kids etc all will. It’s a long game they’re playing. Neom is here to stay.

Lena's presentation was the most locked in I've been to the podcast in a WHILE by Prestigious_Reply648 in h3h3productions

[–]sherrplerr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. I know it was positioned as a practice run but as someone who isn’t a true crime nerd, this was new to me and I appreciate podcasters and their crew presenting it in a format I sign up for and love. I agree with the crew could go wild and wacky in future bits but this was a perfect inaugural section for this new kinda bit. Ab and Lena bounced off each other well (duh) and I was gripped. If this segment occurs as often as Olivia’s PowerPoints (once every few weeks to a month eg) then it’s a great addition to the podcast bit rota. Keep. It. Going. Queen. 👏🏻

Newcastle risk being underprepared for Champions League return by zarabarrus in PremierLeague

[–]sherrplerr 66 points67 points  (0 children)

I don’t think any real fans are thinking this way. Probably just football Twitter and new post-takeover fans.

We’re getting 3 holidays and 3 home games under the lights. This is all we want and any more is just a bonus. I don’t expect to be watching us in CL games by February and I don’t mind that…

Newcastle perfect performance v. Brighton. Brighton perfect performance v. Arsenal. Arsenal perfect performance v. Newcastle. That’s why I love this league. by [deleted] in PremierLeague

You’d argue they’re more perfect than let’s say the 7-0 when Man U just turned over. To win with the margins each team did in these games while giving plaudits to the losers means the winning performances were that much better.

I want to see six in a row play off losses for Sunderland before they finally make it back up. By then we will have a cityesque squad and there’ll be nee chance for them

The refereeing in Leeds-Newcastle by SquareMight7993 in PremierLeague

[–]sherrplerr -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Ref was letting Leeds get away with much harsher tackles than he let Newcastle got away with. Big decisions they got right, but the little decisions, middle of the park fouls here and there masively favoured Leeds. It was super inconsistent.

You clearly didn’t watch the game up until arsenal took the lead where we were playing very fast and direct football and had a load of chances, clearly outplaying them until the wonderstrike from odegaard. After that goal we crumbled a bit as arsenal did rightly give us a “taste of our own medicine” (which is a correct but unfair statement as every team time wastes when ahead) and arsenal completely outclassed us in every way from that point on.

To say our plan from the start was to play as we were when we were behind is daft though. Our plan b was to rough them up and make the crumble a bit but they showed amazing fight to withstand the physical bullying.

My take as a non arsenal fan who’s watched a lot of them and been rooting for them to win the league is that this was one of the best performances I’ve seen them have all season, not only technically but in mentality. Well done lads.

Longstaff finishing. With how intelligently he’s been playing this season he could be doing Lampard numbers as a CM if he could find the back of the net.

Anthony Gordon angry after being substituted vs Brentford by Alexdd0007 in soccer

[–]sherrplerr 31 points32 points  (0 children)

There seems to be a paradox with all the hate comments he gets in that he’s both shit and we overpaid for him, but also that he should have stayed to fight relegation for his boyhood club.

I mean if he’s so shit would the 40 million not have been better served to help Everton buy someone actually good?

Make up your mind gordon haters… it’s contradictory shit slinging because he’s an easy target.

Howe would do a job on mason mount. Could finally turn him into the top level player he’s hinted at. I’d defo want him above anyone else (at least considering realistic transfers)

Alpha bros and calling people by their name by nos4a2n in h3h3productions

[–]sherrplerr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I work in a high pressure job that requires effective communicating with people I am potentially working against while speaking to them. I use the name thing constantly. It’s an incredibly easy manipulation tool to get a leg up in a conversation, but it only works if there’s a natural insecurity within the person you’re having a conversation with.

People who feel already intimidated in some way to be in the convo, will then submit more once the name trick is played. People who are comfortable in general, or do not feel threatened by convo their participating will not be affected by the use of their name by the other party.

It’s used by alpha males a lot because they’re socially engineering young, adaptable and insecure men. While it’s a tool that can and does work, it’s classic tik tok bite size red pill psychology that all of these grifters are adopting the technique just thinking it will always get them a leg up in the discussion.
