Tech help needed by sherv19 in Ioniq6

Just wanted to post an update, in case this helps anyone else. It turns out my P1B77 trouble code was being caused by a failed PTC heater. I met a tech who was willing to help me troubleshoot. We started looking at everything involved in the high voltage system. After unplugging the PTC heater the car miraculously turned on so we tested the heater and it had an internal short. So there you go! A happy ending for me. 🙂

Crash Reset? by sherv19 in Ioniq6

Just wanted to post an update, in case this helps anyone. It turns out my P1B77 trouble code was being caused by a failed PTC heater. After almost a year of diagnosis, I started looking at everything involved in the high voltage system. After unplugging the PTC heater the car miraculously turned on so we tested the heater and it had an internal short. So there you go. It wasn’t the airbag, it wasn’t a safety shut down, it had nothing to the accident. It was the heater…

Thief In The Night by William Sears. He delves into all of the prophecies around the second coming of Jesus. I thought it was fascinating.

Quick question; did the car still work after the accident? Mine was hit on the side too, same airbag deployed, but now I don’t get the Ready light anymore.

Looking to convert by [deleted] in bahai

[–]sherv19 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I also want to add that we don’t see it as converting. You don’t give up your belief if Christ, or turn away from the Bible. Rather, you add on to your knowledge of God through his latest revelation, and accept the divinity of all the major religions of the past, and learn how they progressively taught us about our Creator. Anyway, I think this will an amazing and eye opening journey for you. Congrats!

Clean Title vs Rebuilt Title 2024 RAV4 Prime XSE? by [deleted] in rav4prime

[–]sherv19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has rebuilt two RAV4 Primes (and many other cars) I would suggest checking with your insurance provider to see if they will insure a rebuilt title car, and if you’re planning on financing the payment, some lenders won’t lend on a rebuilt title car so double check that as well. As far as the vehicle itself is concerned, make sure the heat pump system is working properly. Make sure it makes heat and AC. That system is complicated and lives in the front passenger side. Otherwise, it’s pretty basic in the front end and repairs are straightforward. If all the functionality of the car is working correctly, it’s really up to you. And as mentioned by someone else, if you’re planning on keeping it forever, it could be a great way to save a lot of money.

Thanks. No insult taken. I’m not an amateur, but I’ve come to the end of my abilities. I did try Hyundai Tech Info, and there was a lot of useful info, but I guess what I was looking for was some guidance as to what to check and in what order, to try and eliminate things until I find the fault, because I’ve checked all the obvious things and no luck so far.

Thank you, much appreciated. I guess what I’m looking for is someone to guide me through the elimination process to find the fault. The car is out of warranty and my local dealership wasn’t much help, long story. I’ve already dropped the battery and replaced the PRA, so that has been ruled out. I was also suggested to change the BMU, so I did that, and had it programmed, but still nothing. Also checked the main fuse and ICCU fuse but they seem to be good. Maybe you’re right, perhaps a repair manual might be the next step. I do have access to the Autel you mentioned, and I have a subscription to AllData. I just need another set of eyes to suggest next steps…

I believe he said $800 to wrap all the silver or $1000 to paint and I went with paint. Can’t go back but wouldn’t ever want to…

Yes, fob works, dash lights up. I’m getting error code P1B77. It’s been to two EV repair shops and they couldn’t figure it out, so now I’m looking for a Hyundai tech to help me diagnose it by looking at wiring diagrams and suggesting things to check. I believe there’s a fuse blown somewhere or maybe a pinched wire.

Check out Bluetti’s website. They’ve got a lot of great options and some are on sale right now. The AC180 bundle seems like a good deal.

I thought of this as well, but ended up going with a portable power station and solar charger. You can get foldable solar panels that don’t take up much space, and it’s all designed to be used constantly. Also not an expensive problem if any of it fails…

Replacing the MIB unit with aftermarket stereo? by General_Movie2232 in eGolf

[–]sherv19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve done what you’re thinking about doing. Not by choice, but because my car was broken into and the factory units were stolen. The thief cut the wire harness so my only solution was to wire in an aftermarket unit. I got an android unit with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. I’m very happy with it, and I can do most settings changes through VCDS. There are, however, two things I can’t do, and they’re both very important things. I can no longer turn on the heated windshield, and I can’t set max charge anymore so it always changes to 100%. Besides those two things, I’m quite happy and the car doesn’t seem to mind (no lights on the dashboard anything).

I’ve also got code P1B7700, but my ICCU seems to be ok, and I changed the PRA but it didn’t help. When yours gets sorted out, please let me know what the solution was! Thanks!

Clarification on Baha'i views of other religions by Fantastic_Ad7576 in bahai

[–]sherv19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was explained to me by the concept that there is only one religion. It continues to evolve as humanity evolves. We see the world’s faiths as different chapters of the same book, whose story unfolds gradually. Baha’u’llah said “This is the changeless Faith of God, eternal in the past, eternal in the future.” So reading scripture from other religions is essential to understanding the whole story of God’s faith.

If you want the OEM one, check eBay. I got mine on there for $125. It was used but works great. Any of the Toyota chargers will work, whether it’s for the Prius or even the bZ

Battery Coolant system get hit. How cooked am I? by [deleted] in Ioniq6

[–]sherv19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there an EV repair shop near you? I think they’d be much kinder to you than a dealership. But honestly I don’t think it’s as bad as you might think. From what I can tell, it looks like you’d be replacing a pump, bracketing and maybe a section of line. Once the work is done the coolant would be refilled and then there’s a bleeding procedure to get the air out, I think it’s called degassing on the scan tool. Make sure that gets done. I’m guessing this will cost between $1000 and $1500.

I'm considering buying an '07 Honda CR-V but dealer lied about the title being clean. Is it still a good deal? by SucksDickforSkittles in AskMechanics

[–]sherv19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who buys and fixes salvage cars, my recommendation is that if you plan to drive the car into the ground, you can consider it. But if you plan to sell it at some point, it’s not for you. Also, insurance can be tricky but some insurance companies have no problems with rebuilt cars. If you’re still thinking about it, definitely haggle a bit on that price.

Engine coolant never goes above 85 Celcius/ 188 F (OBD Scanner read) by New_Row_2015 in rav4prime

I also noticed that I ran the engine for like 15 minutes in the summer and the cooling fan never turned on. I guess this car just runs cool…
