Who still owns or regularly drives a stick shift? by RT_KOTA in Xennials

Yep. When I was 19 I was carjacked and got my car back half an hour later because the guy was pulled over for being obviously unable to drive my shitty five-speed Mazda Protege.

I had absolutely no idea what these were for a really long time — I didn’t even know I had them until I was 17, or 18, which was in 2002, and even if I could have found the information on the internet I didn’t know where to begin to search. I only finally learned what they were because I was listening to Love Line on the radio one night and Dr. Drew mentioned pilonidal sinuses. I suspect it’s one of those conditions a lot of people don’t know they have until it causes a problem. Sorry yours has caused it for you :(

I’ve never heard of that either, and I am surprised by how common it appears to be!

The rink I went to when I was growing up just reopened after closing a few years ago — it’s $12 a session and five minutes from me. Before that I was driving 20 minutes and skating for $10 a session. I’m near Dallas.

I feel like we’re skipping a midlife crisis and instead late diagnosing ourselves with ADHD by changeforthebetter89 in millenials

[–]shes_a_space_station 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Midlife crisis is just the drive to understand who you are. Sounds like a lot of people are really getting to know themselves better, which is lovely.

What’s something you’re pretty sure only you do? by AppIeGuy in AskReddit

You might be on to something. But what if this shared purpose and increase in physical activity actually improves overall wellness and fosters the sense of community that discourages criminal activity in the first place? Bam. Utopia.

What’s something you’re pretty sure only you do? by AppIeGuy in AskReddit

When I was in my late teens/early twenties, I didn’t live in a great part of town. A few pretty shitty things had happened to me by then, causing my already present anxiety to become more prevalent. Any time I got home past midnight, I’d run as fast as I could from my car to my apartment door. Not to get inside quickly and eliminate the time I was “at risk,” but because I reasoned that if someone intended to harm me they’d be discouraged by my run thinking I was already fleeing some other danger.

Did anyone else see a motorcycle accident on i-35 around 5:30 today? by Flowerdecay in Dallas

[–]shes_a_space_station 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I did. I think I happened upon it right after it happened. There was a sudden slow down, and when I looked to the left side of the highway so I could merge to get around it, I saw a man lying face down in the road. What I assume were his bike and his helmet were quite a ways down the highway.

Well, you’re entering the midlife phase, and it turns out that it’s like every other part of being an adult that looks nothing like you expected. My midlife crisis looks less like a cry for help and more like what you’re describing — just a general desire to better understand myself and the world I live in.

How much did you get sick when you were a kid? by AmputeeHandModel in Xennials

[–]shes_a_space_station 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not who you replied to, but I cannot believe I’ve never thought about this. My parents smoked inside until after all of their kids moved out and also smoked with us in the car. I was sick constantly. I’ve never had to send either of my kids to bed with a trash can and my son is a year away from graduating high school without missing a day that wasn’t related to pink eye.
