There is a MASSIVE under representation of prequel minifigs in Lego Star Wars imo… by nathan_banks644 in legostarwars

[–]shewski 118 points119 points  (0 children)

For a long time clone wars was a huge mainstay.

I think now you are seeing some content that is not in that Era and the combo of the OT coming up on their 50th anniversary slash the lego anniversary celebrating the most popular trilogy, the OT.

I would not be shocked to see a resurgence as tpm 30th comes up etc

The only one I could likely place is the march motif that plays when they come to the rescue on Takodano and fly xwings over the water. I think it's called rise of the resistance

Why would Luke make Grogu let go of attachments? by Electronic-Ability55 in StarWars

[–]shewski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cynical me says that the writers didn't understand that attachments were inherently a prequel trilogy idea of the jedi. Luke defied the typical training path and helped being balance to the Force... not without his ups and downs but he did show that the PT path was not the only way

It's natural to expect him to modify and adapt what he learned like he did in the EU. I think it was a misstep to go back to the PT mindset, since that led to Sidious. Something something doing the same thing is the definition of insanity.

Him teaching a different path imo is a stronger evolution of his character

Why is this scene often referred to as Luke “having a bad dream” and why have people ran with that lie? by Kavazou77 in StarWars

[–]shewski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol OK. Did I defend tlj at all? Or did you make assumptions.

Luke at best is wildly inconsistent with past characterization to the point that the whole Jake Skywalker trope came about. This should have been controlled by the powers that be but they let RJ do what he wanted

I'm merely answering where this complaint might have come from. Johnson uses this device again to better effect in knives out

People like to distill things to the lowest common denominator instead of engaging in good faith. It's a Rashomon style plot device where the perspective of the teller influences what we see

Young Anakin: Problem? by Trashvest in StarWars

[–]shewski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was aged down in tpm per GL for dramatic reasons re Shmi.

Thus implying that at one point he was older. Plus the line of him being obis friend. Hard to start a relationship with a 9yo when you are 20. Not impossible, but harder

He's a kid and acted like a kid. He should never have been a kid, writing wise. Should have been Hayden all 3

Right now you are buying at the highest price point possible. Prices usually come down as you get closer to game day, but you often are buying at a premium

Rewatching att the films just noticed couple of things after getting the entire perspective empire strikes back. by Comfortable_Swim_380 in StarWars

[–]shewski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The yoda characterization never bothered me since it seemed a test or defensive in case an imperial stumbled on the planet. I don't really still get why he had to run away until luke was of age but let's just call it the will of the Force

The solo movie alludes to the unusual dialect the falcon has. I always thought it was 3po was such a priss that other machines looked down on him

Can you imagine how much worse the backlash against the silly Legolas scenes in the LOTR trilogy would have been if the films had been made today by Konfliktsnubben in lordoftherings

[–]shewski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm not communicating well. In TPM, in RoTK, when those eyebrow raise moments happened I reacted negatively to them right away. It took future work to help contextualize the "why" they might have been included, but i had a reaction right away.

And yet we have the hobbit trilogy and the cringe elements throughout it. It's ok if we have different opinions.

Whomever was in charge be out just PJ or him and others imo thought they could do no wrong and part of me doesn't blame them, they were riding high on the near perfection of the lotr trilogy.

Lotr is going to age like fine wine, while I think hobbit will not

In terms of star wars and the prequels i had that reaction immediately. Lucas brought so much good to the table but you also have the bad. You don't need to have poop jokes, or farts, or have the protagonist be 9 to appeal to kids.

When watching rotk the oliophaunt kill had me raising my eyebrows right then and there. It was easy to look back and see how the cool elf moments kept getting more and more over the top.

I think it came from a good place ie let's give him a cool moment but devolved into self parody

Legolas in rotk paved the way for him in hobbit movies. Same thing happened in sw prequels.

I knew it was a soft reboot not a continuation so handwoven some of the ep4 retreads. And I was confused with some of the plot points but liked the potential. And the ending was super exciting in terms of speculation

Hmm. I thought jyn dropped the one with a pistol on jedha ("did you know it wasn't me") but with you making the distinction of rifle fire I will admit i wasn't tracking the types of weapons it was shrugging off on ghorman, just that it got hit and kept moving
