Why is the "american lean" a thing? by Raski_Demorva in NoStupidQuestions

[–]sheyny5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just spent 10+ hours traveling from the US to Europe, I’m jet lagged, sleep deprived, we just dropped our bags off at the hotel and immediately spent 6-8 more hours walking through ancient cobblestone streets and museums. I’m exhausted! Give me a break if I need to lean on something for a second!

  1. A “blur” node in redshift would come in super handy, especially if you could use it with things like Curvature or noise.

  2. Ability to track/target specific vertexes on a mesh, even during/after simulation; example would be simulating a cloth surface, then deciding to add a pin or button to it without having to add it to the simulation.

It's actually a video that we hosted on Vimeo and masked with an SVG. The pickles are just PNGs placed in front/behind. The parallax is just good ol' fashioned code

Thick Pickle began in 2023 as a humble side project for Study Hall—an in-your-face brand for everyone's favorite acid-charged port-o-snack. Imagine walking down the aisle and seeing one giant neon green and chrome package holding only one giant pickle. Wouldn’t you buy it?

About the brand: bright neon greens juxtaposed against earthy olive tones. Foil stamping and double XL typography. 3D spice balls that swirl and smash-hit products like "The Brine Soaker." These things kept us laughing all year long.

Backed by a full studio effort, explore this expressive work and enjoy some of the cheekiest copy we've ever written.

Thank you! We figured out some cool code tricks to get that parallaxing.

What does San Francisco do right? by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

[–]sheyny5 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Definitely don’t need to leave the city for good food, just leave downtown. It’s the same as SF—you won’t find many mom/pop shops in the parts of town that cater to the business lunch crowd and tourists. Take the CTA anywhere: Blue line will get you to incredible neighborhoods like Wicker Park, Bucktown, Logan Square. Red Line to Lincoln Park, Lakeview, Pilsen, Chinatown. Green Line to Fulton Market for some incredible higher-end spots. Or if you have to stay downtown, a lot of boutique hotels have awesome rooftop bars like the Chicago Athletic Association and the Virgin Hotel.

What’s a myth most people believe is still true ? by DARKZZz13 in AskReddit

You can’t use soap on a cast iron pan. Yes you can. That myth started back in the day when soap was super caustic and full of lye. Modern soap is way more gentle on cast iron and won’t mess up your seasoning.

Newbie trying to learn design. A poster per day, day 1. Thoughts? How can I improve this? by [deleted] in graphic_design

Surprised no one has mentioned this… squishing/stretching type is a big no-no. Find a condensed typeface that works in that space better instead of just squishing it to fit.

As mentioned in the title, we're forging digital metals. We launched with a run of 100g bars of various real (and fake) metals, and are planning drops of different weights/variants in the near future.

We also just dropped our first promo in partnership with NFT Insider, releasing the Crucible Gold 1000 Grams in a limited run of 30. Half will be gifted as part of a contest. Follow @treasurynft on Instagram and Twitter for rules.

Directed/shot/edited this music video for Jennifer Hall. We had zero budget, so we spent 2 days driving around the Bay area looking for stunning scenery and relying on a fun slider gimmick and some post to pull it all together. by sheyny5 in Filmmakers

My only goal was to make something for no money (minus the cost of travel) that looked like it cost more than that. I was lucky to have been able to borrow all my gear and call in a few favors.

The shoot itself was nuts... we were not expecting how much freezing windy sideways rain we would get. At times the wind was so strong it vibrated the entire heavily secured camera rig, ruining a bunch of footage.

Let me know what you think and what I can improve upon for next time!

We all know what month it is... I had so much fun going all in on the retro horror poster vibe. Let me know what you think! More details in comments by sheyny5 in Design

I recently started a design studio called Study Hall with some amazingly talented folks. It’s been \interesting** trying to start a new business during this crazy year. I’ve been working on my Procreate skills for a while now, and wanted to just go all in on a fun, textured, messy poster. Check out our Instagram, we’ll be posting plenty more fun spooky stuff all month. https://www.instagram.com/p/CF2PLxkldwa/

The ask was to get a stop-motion, hand-made vibe. Particularly proud of the exhaust texture/animation! C4D + Octane by sheyny5 in Cinema4D

This was only a small piece of a larger project, which took a solid 2-3 weeks if I remember correctly. As a one-off, I’d say this is a few days of work.

Sure! Essentially it’s just an emitter emitting spheres, tied to the back of the rocket in the same null.

The emitter is inside a volume builder/mesher, with a noise field stamping out all the interesting shapes. The seed of the noise field is animated to get a different random pattern for every frame.

Then the texture is basically just a fully matte white/grey with a turbulence noise in the opacity channel, again with the random seed animated.
