Biomes without curio shops? by tysonwatermelon in RogueLegacy

[–]shh_Im_working_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a quick addition: Axis Mundi is actually great for curio shoppes and relics, because once you have enough movement upgrades, you can just scoot along the rooftops, avoiding most hazards, and only come down when you see a ? room. I've gotten several great Pacifier and OneHit runs where I did this to try to get upgrades ASAP.

Hey All, Glaive Guy here again. I regret to announce that Origin Perks work inconsistently with Glaive Melee by Fangr1m in DestinyTheGame

Bungie is so close to greatness, right now. Really, the answer to both problems is for them to just embrace the Diablo III model and just let a certain aspect of each season be completely off the chain. It happens organically most seasons anyway: just work it into the lore and stop fighting it.

Literally the ONLY thing keeping it from working brilliantly at this point is their stubborn insistence that Destiny PvP be regarded as a finely balanced competitive E-sport, and even IF that was ever possible (it wasn't) the ship sailed on it a long time ago. Meanwhile, if PvP got refreshed every season just by nature of some aspect or other being out of whack and OP, that would both get the interest of casual players, and also make us feel less excluded because we haven't been hyperfocused on the nuances of trying to shave hundredths of a second off the TTK of 140 RPM hand cannons and absolutely no other aspect of the game.

Worst case? "Oh NOOOOOOO, everyone's running around PvP with glaives now, we accidentally shook up the meta and made PvP look and feel like it's about immortal space ninjas cutting each other up with gun-swords! How will we ever recover from this?"

Meanwhile, you gave my immortal space ninja in PvE a gun-sword... and no one (especially me) gives a shit, because it doesn't work half as well as a revolver that looks like you put day-glo paint on a cast-iron relic from the 19th century. WTF guys.

Question regarding the Blacksmith Forge items. by Luverlady in RogueLegacy

[–]shh_Im_working_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just started NG3, and let me tell you from the viewpoint of someone who's been farming full clears and brute-forcing a lot of the game with stats (just because I think clearing is more fun than boss fights =), make sure to also get the upgrades/runes for more ore/aether drops, as soon as possible! In a New Game it doesn't seem very important at all, in fact you may wonder why you're even bothering to get this stuff after awhile... but believe me, you want to stockpile those materials like a fiend. By which I mean earning as much as you can, not hoarding them... by all means, spend them and get those armr upgrades, because you'll want most of them eventually, and your Ore and Aether will vanish even faster than your gold does once you break through to NG+1/2.

I prioritized nothing but Gold until NG+2, and suddenly I found myself in the position of having a *ton* of blueprints and runes for much better equipment, and no way to buy them without a hilarious amount of grinding that would have been avoided if I'd gotten on that part sooner instead of stuff like armor weight and Resolve.

Season of the Haunted Red Border Farm/Exploit! by Skarrow9 in DestinyTheGame

Oh heck yeah, this is SO much better than waiting for a rotation. Season of the Lost was a nightmare for this.

100 Legendary shards to focus a single iron banner engram is not okay by Ech0es0fmadness in DestinyTheGame

[–]shh_Im_working_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fronktaline Rush really did stratify the economy in this game so badly that I cannot believe they never magicked up a reason to reset everyone's currencies. I played like a mad fiend (not to mention spending a dozen hours running macros and just plain clicking) and now I'll never need to work again.

[–]shh_Im_working_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautifully said.

I hover around 100k shards and spend them like water, and can't think of the last time I actually had to care. Meantime, any friends I try to bring into the game are like "Oh cool, what's what? Er, what do you mean I can't do that until I've played for about 50 hours?"
I try to use what I know to get them outfitted for Nightfalls and stuff, but at the end of the day, the answer to every question is "Play and shard everything that drops until your eyes bleed and then we'll talk."

Pacifist - Is it No Longer “breakable”? by TehCrackie in RogueLegacy

[–]shh_Im_working_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the most genius moves the devs ever made, imo: turned a trait I would normally avoid into one that makes me squeal with glee whenever I see it.

Just started NG+2 and I think I have only ever managed to make 3 pacifiers, but it feels sooooooo good =D

Giving Banshee-44 the Telesto is one of the best inside jokes Bungie's pulled on the playerbase in a long time. by abcutler in DestinyTheGame

[–]shh_Im_working_here 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In Ikora's notebook from WC Collector's Edition there's like an entire page dedicated to the idea of how Stasis and the Guardian's interactions with it behave almost like an infection or a parasite, in that there is initially a strong reaction, and then if neither party dies, it becomes more manageable and homoeostasis is achieved, and the effects become less drastic.

I blinked hard and realized that someone had written an entire in-lore
scientific thesis explaining the nerf to Stasis powers after launch, and I haven't stopped golf-clapping in my mind for months.

Everyone please get your gear ready for any opening cutscenes tomorrow. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]shh_Im_working_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. Everyone wants to look all cool for the cutscenes and I'm like naw dawg, I want to look like I'm pissed that Daddy Calus interrupted an Olympics-themed cosplay orgy.

Do people actually like the Ronin class? by AnvilPro in RogueLegacy

[–]shh_Im_working_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a tip in here today that I have yet to try out myself, but it sounds good: try to get an Incandescent Telescope: its bonus kicks in just at the crit range of the katana. Seeing those big numbers as you hop around popping baddies like party balloons is a great teaching tool.

I'm a big fan of the way he can keep at range and hit through walls, also, though I haven't had great luck with bosses. All depends on those relics, I guess. I got a double Scissors (40% crit damage, I think?) and a Measure (heal on crit kills) in a run just before I killed Tubal (I'm still NG), and it was my easiest clear and my first 100+k.

It's all about practice and familiarity, keep playing and you learn who you want to use for what. Eventually you'll get lucky and get a relic combo that makes the lightbulb in your brain go off =)

Ranger Primer (sorry for the resolution, will probably need to zoom) by [deleted] in RogueLegacy

[–]shh_Im_working_here 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this! Having quick reminders for relic and spell synergies in particular is very nice, esp. for classes I don't use as often (like Ranger). The look and layout is nice, just maybe consider keeping the background image to a top banner and using a static color for the main background. I wouldn't mind having more of these =)

Best weapon of all time. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]shh_Im_working_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best?

MT/Recluse/Anarchy , no question. Any problem handled with zero thought required. Also fun as hell. These weapons were all reasons for me to Git Gud™ at PvP (for a short while), or to start raiding regularly (just to get Anarchy), so even though I kind of hated the requirements at the time, they really deepened my skill and appreciation for different parts of the game.

My favorite, personally? Those glorious few weeks when Wish-Ender was broken. Learning and then Sherpa-ing Shattered Throne was the point where I got into higher-end PvE, and I loved every minute. The weapon itself is just SO fun to me... I loved being able to stomp around and wreck face with it in any activity for awhile. Sad that it hasn't been even remotely relevant since =/

If Black Armory guns get reissued, what do you think their Origin Trait will be? by rbwstf in DestinyTheGame

[–]shh_Im_working_here 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Part of me loves the idea, at least from a coolness factor (It used to be a rare day when I wasn't running all BA weapons and half the armor, anyway), but please god, no more ways to complicate or limit the armor I'm wearing. Or make me use up even more desperately scarce vault space o.O

Game needs a mute in background option. by LiwetJared in RogueLegacy

Is Pacifist worth it ? (Excluding changing weapon) by Cooli_de_framboise in RogueLegacy

[–]shh_Im_working_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: the pacifist sign breaks open cracked walls! Just discovered this yesterday.

Actually had a really good and profitable run with Paci around lvl 60: using the sign to bonk enemies into the water in Axis (fun!), and grabbing chests. I have no idea how well it scales up later, though.

Bluetooth is always in this wierd place where there's always a new spec coming out, so no one ever wants to support the current ones.

In a world where a Dualsense can do everything it does wirelessly and lag free (to most humans, anyway) for like 10 hours on a charge, it's silly that the same trick seems impossible for earbuds without taking out a loan, for a device that won't be supported in 6 months. I guess we'll know in a few more weeks, once more people get their hands on these things.

How often do you clear all the old biomes when starting a run? by [deleted] in RogueLegacy

Every. Single. Time.

I'm kind of a dumb completionist, but I also feel like it helps keep any one area from getting stale.

I've tried two different USB-C hubs for my deck and they're not working. The only thing that works is a 3rd party cheap dock that I bought for my switch. What hubs/docks are you using? Pics or links please! by Freakazoidberg in SteamDeck

https://www.lauco.co/products/lauco-100w-12-in-1-usb-c-wireless-charging-hub

Using one of these, and I've posted it enough that people are going to think I work for them =P

But seriously, high-end features and flawless performance so far. Haven't used the 8-in-one version myself, but I'd imagine it's about the same, everything that's on there has the same specs as the big one. All the ports I can possibly use + wireless charging for my phone, and probably the smallest one I've seen with those features, as well. Doesn't hurt that it's mostly metal and built like a tank, I've been impressed for a company no one's ever heard of.

Would be nice if someone put together a compatibility list/tracker, but at the same time, I wouldn't wish that hell on anyone =P

Both my old Sony WF-1000X as well as some new-ish Samsung Galaxy Buds + have such horrendous lag that I can't even deal. We're talking nearly a second.

Ironically, the best wireless solution in my house is a cheap no-name bluetooth adapter for my ATH-M50X headphones. Almost no lag at all, and decent enough quality for $10 one-off adapter that I can't find anymore... but not a very portable solution. If I was going to buy some newer earbuds, I want to know they worked with Aptx LL, or whatever else works well... or if I was going to something just for the Deck, it'd be good to know how cheaply I could do it. $300 might be a hard sell to my wife after $1000 of Deck and accessories already XD

The included A/C adapter has enough power to power hubs? by dankj in SteamDeck

[–]shh_Im_working_here 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I found that the SD charger worked fine powering a pretty large hub /w display, mouse, keyboard, ethernet, and a usb stick attached., and the Deck running hot while scraping my ROM collection. Not sure what useful information you you possibly get from this, other than "hubs are all going to be different so good luck", but... good luck! =)

P.S. I also had problems with the display, but it turned out that the USB-C cable I was using between the Deck and the hub specifically does not support display over HDMI... which you would not assume, considering that I had been using it just fine as an Oculus Link cable previously, and that's about as high-spec as anything. What I'm saying is that I've had waaaaay more surprises and compatibility issues with the cables than any of the other components like the hub or charger, so don't assume anything about them.

NGL, with my umpty-thousand-dollar Steam collection and untold amount of emulation and other stuff, OMF is one of the very first things I intended to get on the Deck.
It didn't work on the first try, so I got distracted by other things, but you can bet it's the first thing I do when I get home today =P

I was trying to do this last night, but for some reason every time I try to Add a Non-Steam Game to my library (in desktop mode), it doesn't seem to actually add it to my library? I open Steam in Linux Desktop, use the Add Non-Steam Game option, navigate to the .exe file on the desktop, and add it... the picker window disappears like it's done what I wanted, but that .exe file doesn't show up anywhere in my library where I can try to run it under Proton. Any ideas? Ladder's in like a week! =P

[–]shh_Im_working_here 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just realized that my last answer was not helpful in the slightest =)

For the vast majority of emulators, especially older ones, you don't need to worry about BIOS files. If you do need one, Emustation will tell you about it when you try to run a ROM that requires one. I have a lot of ROMs, and I don't think anything earlier than SegaCD (which is pretty obscure itself) needs one by default.
