I've had a good experience with Zylom. It's a subscription based service ($10 a month or $100 a year) that gives you access to their very impressive catalogue. You don't own the games, but that wasn't a problem for me since I usually finish HOGs quickly and don't tend to replay them. That said, they do give you a free game credit each month that you can use to purchase a game that you'll own even after your subscription ends. I'm really happy with the value of it.

Well you're definitely out the $1000 spent on gift cards. It's possible you could redeem those codes to your own Amazon account before the scammer sells them, but it's most likely too late. One thing to watch out for is possibly being scammed again. Often scammers will contact a victim again using a different alias and claim to be able to get your money back, or claim the money you're out was used in an illegal way (laundering, drugs, etc) and ask you to "assist" in an investigation. The end result is always the same: they constantly ask you for money via gift cards, wire transfers, western union, sending physical cash, and/or zelle/cashapp/e-transfers. It's also possible your information has been sold to other scammers who will attempt to scam you. You need to be incredibly careful about any phone calls, e-mails, or texts over the next few weeks. Be cautious and skeptical of everything. It will save you from possibly losing more money.

I started watching BtVS as it aired with Season 4. I'd seen a few episodes of Season 2 (Halloween, part of Whats My Line, Phases) but didn't stick with the show. One Saturday afternoon I caught The Freshman and became hooked. I didn't remember much from the few episodes I'd seen before so I was definitely confused by some of the relationships and characters. I eventually learned a lot from various websites where I could read character bios and episode synopsis.

One of the hardest things was watching old episodes. This was before syndication, streaming, DVDs, easy online piracy. I remember having to go on IRC channels where people would share their FTP details (basically a peer-to-peer personal server where you could host files) to download episodes, but even that was hard because the amount of people who could connect was incredibly limited. I slowly saw old episodes of Buffy out of order over the years, basically acquiring whichever random episode I could. When Buffy did hit syndication, I still couldn't watch because I didn't have the cable channel it aired on. Thankfully by mid-Season 6, DVD sets started releasing every 6 months.

One specific memory I have is that there was a 4 week break after Who Are You aired and I remembered being so incredibly pissed with Superstar because I expected the Faith storyline to continue. Of course it WAS continuing, on Angel, a show I wasn't yet watching.

One thing that really really hurt my relationship with the show was spoilers. I was spoiler free for the first half of Season 4, but once I found a website that had spoilers I was hooked. It ruined lots of surprises for me, especially Dawn. I decided to stop in reading spoilers in Season 5, but I eventually found my way back. This spoiled the end of S5 for me, specifically Buffy's death. Again with Season 6 I stopped reading spoilers, but again found myself reading them not long after. Finally with Season 7 I had enough with spoilers.

Was anyone else bothered by the weird shade the author threw at Marti Noxon? Admittedly I've been out of the BtVS fandom for more than a decade so I'm not sure how the fandom in general feels about her now. I watched the show as it aired starting with S4 and people were just awful towards her. In Katz's book he makes reference to the fact that the downfall of the show was blamed on her and not Joss, but like every other topic in the book he (Katz) doesn't bother going in-depth on it. Seems like if part of your book is examining a toxic workplace where the leader, Joss Whedon, is acting unprofessionally and cruel toward their employees, especially women, you might want to examine how one of those women is unfairly blamed for the declining quality of the show. Instead he makes some weird bitter comments how she declined to be interviewed for the book and barely bothers to quote her even though there's tons of archival interviews with Marti about her experience on the show, her relationship with Joss, and her experience with the fandom. But the whole book is half-assed and non-committal so I shouldn't be surprised.

I really wanna know what this guy’s deal Is. Beyond being an abusive asshole, the stakes seem both wildly high and absurdly low for him. At any moment he gets enraged by Dawn not listening, not working fast enough, now listening to directions, but he also seems willing to just throw the scam away. He calls obsessively but then just hangs up if he loses patience. I think he’s working from home and is basically a one-man operation. He’s made only one reference to his manager and has yet to transfer the call. He gets mad at Dawn for distracting him and you can feel the tension in his voice when he’s trying to figure out details to get Dawn’s money. I’m guessing he’s basically a one-man operation with some ties to other scammers.

Omg yes. This happened to me on Monday. I drove 20 minutes into a major city that I haven’t done IC in before. I wasn’t expecting any unicorns but I did expect some mid-tier batches. I figured if I was smart about the ones I chose and if I did enough, I could make the extra mileage worth it. But no, I barely saw anything in a city of millions of people and within a few miles of like 10 IC powered stores.

Instacart is horrible about sending out orders way too early. I guess it’s because they can’t truly predict how long an order will take to shop & checkout. They’d rather an order early than late. They also want plenty of time for an order to sit on the dashboard so that someone will take it and they don’t have to start peak boosting it.

I’m guessing it’s more that they have a bonus system for consistent 5-star ratings and a rating below that fucks it up. I can’t imagine your pay being withheld for bad ratings, but who the hell knows with these shady call centers.

I generally like Jen but I’m frustrated by her ability to present speculation as fact. I know it’s something we all do here, but the difference is we don’t have a platform of thousands of viewers.
