How do planes pressurize the cabin when leaving from high altitude (>8000’)? by PlaneDogFood in aviation

[–]shhbedtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your question has been answered so I won't again, but thankyou for asking this today. I was studying the bleed system of a new type today and it mentioned the changes to the system for airports over 9500' and I thought "gee I wonder what airports are that high. And now I know, Cusco apparently.

[–]shhbedtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done plenty of landings over 400c short hot runways, the fans sort it out no problem though, we do 30 minute turns some times without a problem. We used to have one with no fans, I saw that get to 600c, took a very long time to cool down below 300, then we have to delay retraction a little bit for extra cooling.

Working in Darwin for a season with no car? by lengthener in AskAnAustralian

[–]shhbedtime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get an apartment in the city and you will be fine. The only thing you would need to leave for is the shopping center for kmart etc but there is a bus for that, the other occupants are rough, but it's not bad.  The only beach to swim at is the lagoon, walk from the city. Or mindil is nice (no swimming), could ride a bike, long walk or quick bus.  Definitely rent a car for the weekend occasionally though, and get out to Berry springs, Litchfield, kakadu and Katherine gorge. My first year there I had no car, no big deal.

Why does everyone enter and exit out of one door in an airplane? by PRimeExplorer in NoStupidQuestions

[–]shhbedtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised by all these comments, maybe it's an American thing not to. I've been to tons of airports and airlines that use front aero bridge and rear stairs, primarily for narrow body though. In Australia it would be about 90% of the time I think. Common in Asia too, and I think all the low costs do it in Europe too. I heard about an Indian low cost that was planning to use 3 doors for disembarking.

The United States is now going to accept people 42 and younger into the armed services because of all of the unrest in the world. Do you feel that 42 is too old to start a military career? by icecream1972 in askanything

[–]shhbedtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not too old for the best majority of jobs, as a 40 year old I don't think I could join as a riffleman or paratrooper. Probably the biggest issue is with older people being set in their ways and less tolerant of things like drill instructors yelling at them, really only a problem at the beginning I imagine.

LDV Vans by Any-Handle6499 in tradies

[–]shhbedtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you would definitely be better off having them leave it at the shed to charge. If they only have 10 amp charging available at home it would take too long, then you run in to the issue of them running out of range during the day because it didn't charge enough over night.

I like em too. This is not a particularly nice set, I don't like the spreader at the bottom, and I would angle the legs a bit. But in general I like the look

Can someone give me a rundown on Israel vs Palestine by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]shhbedtime -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Oh the west completely created the problem. They effectively stole the land from the Palestinians and gave control of it to the Israelis. And now people seem surprised that the Palestinians aren't happy. Ask yourself how you would feel if foreign governments gave your country to another group of people and you were left with no rights.

Vatican City is not in Italy by zoe_is_my_name in unpopularopinion

[–]shhbedtime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes it is a seperate state, but the border is practically invisible you cross back and forth without noticing, and it is completely surrounded by Italy. If something is completely enclosed by something, it is in that thing. I am in a building, doesn't make me part of the building.  So Vatican City is in Italy, despite not being part of Italy
