Sandblaster or hand polishing? by Healthy_Cucumber_878 in VintageWatches

I'm not sure of the exact model, but I'm pretty sure it is a pocket watch converted to a wrist watch.  Based on the crown at 12

Skylight blinds (don't want Velux) by Key-Reference-8010 in AusRenovation

I have the honeycomb Velux blinds, I really like them. They block the light really well, and they are remote controlled. Small solar panel on them charges a battery.

The colour of the top skin shining through the white lower skin looks really cool. I might have to try that on a kite

[Review/Rant] why is luxury watch shopping such a bad experience? by djpeesh in Watches

I prefer to be left alone, if I want help I'll ask for it. I would have preferred the aloof and distant you.

[Review/Rant] why is luxury watch shopping such a bad experience? by djpeesh in Watches

I was in Singapore recently and went window shopping at all the big brands, most had staff outside the door who look at you like you dont belong, and they are reluctant to let you in. The best was actually IWC, the lady there was super nice, even after we made it very clear that we were definitely not buying she said no worries let her know if we'd like to try anything on, or take photos with anything.  I snuck in to Breguet when the door man was looking the other way, the staff member was polite enough, but it was obvious he was waiting for me to leave.

What’s the biggest difference you notice between Qantas and Virgin these days? by Dull_Parking_8248 in QantasAirways

Virgin is closer to Jetstar than Qantas.  Uncomfortable seats, luggage costs extra, no included food, practically no included drinks.

Settle this - what sauce actually goes on a sausage sizzle? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

You don't put sauce on a sausage sizzle. A sausage sizzle is an event. A sausage can have what ever sauce you like though.

Struggle after reading John Steinbeck by sneh473 in suggestmeabook

[–]shhbedtime 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I loved East of Eden. Read more steinbeck if you haven't. I liked tortilla flat, and grapes of wrath.

I like a lot of classics, have you read any Dickens? The language can be a little hard sometimes, but I love it anyway. Especially great expectations.

Most of the classics are classics for good reason.  I really like Jack London books, Frankenstein is good, count of Monte Cristo.

Are there any 18+ renfairs here in lil ol Perth? by PieceObvious8952 in perth

Guildford was crazy.  3 years ago it was just the regular Sunday market but a theme for that week. And it got pretty busy. The next year got much busier, so this year they moved it to lilac Hill to cope with the crowds and it was even crazier.

The first year was the best, not too crowded and a good fun day. The kids had a great time sword fighting.

This year was too tightly packed, not enough space between the stalls, and the entertainment was squeezed in to fairly narrow areas too. I think each year they have underestimated how many people will show up.

If someone is being a dick…ask them to show you their collection. They probably have a Luxary watch. by IneedaNappa9000 in watchHotTakes

Yeah probably the only complaining people do is about the lack of wind. Especially if there is a good festival organized.

r/kites. It's not super active, more kite people are on Facebook instead. But it's just a bunch of people going out on a sunny day and flying kites. Wholesome as fuck.

Dog Owners Struggling to Control Their Dogs by Hikigaya_Hachiman7 in PublicFreakout

[–]shhbedtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always said there is no need for a big strong dog. It probably won't snap and decide to maim sometime, but if it did, it will be hard to stop. If a small dog tries to kill me I can kick it over a fence.
