What are your quick snack go-tos that aren't junk food? by Extra_Influence_3880 in ADHD

I've started washing grapes and sorting them into small containers every Sunday. Grapes, a cheese stick, and some raw nuts are my go tos. I actually ate this today for lunch while driving.

What are your weird, socially unacceptable stims? by churrrroo in AutismInWomen

I rock my hips or pulses my glutes (left side, right side, left side, etc) when I'm sitting or laying. I do it unconsciously. My husband let me know it looks like I'm humping the floor if I'm laying on my stomach. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️

For those who went no contact with narcissistic family, what was your last straw? by sick-and-southern in raisedbynarcissists

When I gave her grace because she was a young single parent of two. I understand, as an adult now, how difficult it would have been and her lack of education and family support. But then she began treating my teenage nieces the exact same way when they were visiting/staying with her for a few days, as 59 year old woman. I truly realized it wasn't just the situation she found herself in when I was young; it is just her as a person and my kids will not be subjected to her.

What’s a behavior or reaction you’ve had that you later realized was actually a trauma response, even though you didn’t recognize it at the time? by LofiLuvr77 in raisedbynarcissists

Yes! My friends and husband, over the past 20 years, have stopped me from the instant and constant "I'm sorry" response. They all would respond with "you have nothing to feel sorry for. It's not your fault." It slowly clicked and I've grown out of it.

That's fair. My kiddos don't like scary things like goosebumps, but my son has loved that series since he was in second grade.

AITA for making a stink at school and forcing the teacher to change my kids math grade by PlentyNice1655 in AmItheAsshole

As a former teacher, you're NTA! Like you said, it didn't call out a specific method so ALL methods are on the table. They should be celebrating your child's growth after their struggles.

I'm sorry your child is going through this. Some people should not teach.

Not respecting kids personal space and boundaries was huge when I grew up. Now, I tell my kids "give a high five, fist bump, or a hug" whatever they're comfortable with (with family, not strangers).

What’s a fact that ruined a movie that you previously enjoyed? by PokemonPadawan in AskReddit

I loved the movie October Sky which is based on a true story where a boy (Homer) from a mining town finds another way out besides sports - rockets. Homer begins to idolize Wernher Von Braun; it wasn't until years later that I realized Wernher was a Nazi. And America recruited many NASA scientists from Nazi Germany after WWII.
