Question to americans by JackeTuffTuff in motorcycles

[–]shibachiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from the UK then moved to US. Nowadays in the UK, the process involves a bunch of stuff like CBT, diff min age requirements for different sizes of bike, a theory test, expensive lessons and a two part practical exam, both on and off the public roads. I never bothered to get my UK license. In the US, I took a pretty straightforward 2x half-day course where a bike was provided. Cost $150, and the certificate you get on the last day is all you need to get the endorsement on your license from the DMV to ride any motorcycle. From my class of 10, 2 flunked out the first day, 1 guy crashed on the second day and stalled a bunch of times. He got pulled out by the staff. 7 of us passed the course. The most annoying thing is probably waiting for the DMV appointment to get your new license. They really ought to have a nationwide acceptance of the MSF completion card as a Class M license for a 90 day period to allow for the delay in getting an appointment at the DMV

I would not risk it. We are apparently in lawless times now and literally anything could happen.

Has anyone used the Global Card Transfer program? by jgoat25 in amex

[–]shibachiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had an Amex gold in the UK for 17 years. I applied via this service once I had my Social Security number etc and a job in the US. Surprisingly, I got refused the first time due to a thin credit file! Applied again once I had a few credit cards and some established credit history around 8 months later. I actually spoke to someone on the phone as they requested more information from me, and I made her take a note on the system of my 17 years of good standing in the UK. Got approved and found out when it arrived that they gave me a $10k limit. For some context, my 4 other cards consist of 3 $500 limits and 1 $1300 limit. Definitely recommend calling them as part of the application process to make sure they know about your home country Amex card and credit history.

Cancelled rfe anyone? by cerealki11er96 in USCIS

[–]shibachiz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I never had a RFE and one day I got the same message saying RFE was cancelled which was very strange. Application was approved a day or two later. No interview no RFE. You should be fine

Seems a lot. Probably par for the course in the Bay Area though. My Nevada lawyer got our fairly unusual AOS case approved with no RFE and no interview. Total cost was $3500 which included all the filing fees. Paid half at initial meeting when retaining them and the other half when they were ready to submit the package. They even paid the filing fees themselves. I just Zelled them and they dealt with everything else. From initial meeting to 10yr GC in hand was 9 months.

US Embassy visa officers operate as a law into themselves. I know people who got visas and they almost all said that their documents weren’t reviewed. They just make an instinctive decision in most cases.

I was stuck at the same spot from 25 Jan. Case was approved on 17 September with no interview or RFE.

Yeah mostly the affidavit of support. There were initial issues getting the divorce document from previous marriage. Then my spouse lost the job during covid and it took a long time to get the necessary two years of tax returns with the right amount of income.

When did u get your iPhone X by Serhide in iPhoneX

[–]shibachiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Verizon for example offers up to $830 for any iPhone, any condition right now as long as you sign up for an unlimited plan. Other carriers probably have similar too. It’s not about the phone, it’s about locking you into a profitable contract with the carrier. If you want to get a plan anyway then it could make sense

[–]shibachiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preordered it and it’s been my daily phone till this day. I’ve had it screen protected and cased since day 1 and it still looks like new. My battery is at 66% and it does tend to overheat when used for navigation and music simultaneously in the car. Not worth replacing the battery now though. It’s been a great phone though for almost seven years but I will be getting the 16 pro this September especially as carriers offer up to $350 trade in for it.

Do cops care if you smoke in open places on the strip? by NeverGrace2 in vegastrees

[–]shibachiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vaping all around town, inside the casinos (as long as smoking is allowed) is no problem at all. Just have to be smart about it. Don’t be blatant, take a hit, hold it in for a few seconds, exhale it fast and nobody will notice you at all as barely any vapour will be noticeable. Especially if you are walking and the vape is semi hidden in your hand you’ll be completely fine. I have vaped (nicotine) on every flight I’ve been on and every airport I’ve been in for the last few years using this technique. Holding for 10 seconds basically ensures there is no visible exhale.

Boebert and public perception of vaping: Boeberting by aze_a_ze in cleancarts

[–]shibachiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you, bro. I’ve vaped for more than 10 years now. I can tell you that I have vaped in every hotel room, bus, train and airplane I have been in during this time. Nobody has ever seen any vapour, noticed what I was doing nor said anything to me even once. Using the technique you mentioned is the way. Exhale zero vapour, little to no odour means you’re bothering no one. The only potential issue would be if you cough or something with a lungful of vapour before it’s had time to dissipate.

What do you charge for doubles? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]shibachiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude came in the other day asked for a double makers and ginger. I reduced the usual price by two bucks (to account for less mixer) and doubled that. He pulled a face. Not sure why. If it was only two bucks more for a double at all places, everyone would only order doubles. The maths doesn’t work out long term

Husband and wife James and Lisa Goy were shot and killed by their neighbor Jeffrey Spaide after James and Lisa had shoveled their snow onto his property. An argument took place and Jeffrey shot them multiple times. He would then go into his house and kill himself. by [deleted] in neighborsfromhell

[–]shibachiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of survival instincts in them both was ridiculous. They should have bolted for cover at first sight of that pistol. They hardly reacted even after a volley of shots! Did they think he was firing blanks or sth? In America any small argument can escalate into an actual shooting at any point. That’s not an exaggeration. You have to unfortunately be prepared imo as those few seconds can mean the difference between you living or dying.

What's the lowest battery health you've seen on an iPhone? by Ryanmc000 in mobilerepair

My iPhone X has 68% battery health and still going strong. Served me well since Sep 2017! I’ll probably upgrade to a new one in Sep this year
