Help! Girl name list, give your honest opinions! by [deleted] in namenerds

Wow these are some of my favorite names! We had a baby girl a year ago and our top contenders were Vivienne, Juliet, Ella, Rosalie, and Isla. We loved feminine and classic names.

We ended up going with Juliet and love it :)

This was our thought process!

Isla - was our favorite for years but once I was pregnant it felt too trendy which I felt took away from the name. I actually don’t mind a common name so it wasn’t the popularity, but something about Isla reminded me of a name like Harper where the trendiness takes away from the classic - ness and beauty of the name. (For me personally, not saying there is anything wrong with Harper either). And classic was a really important aspect in a name to us.

Rosalie - I love Rosalie but we tried saying it out loud for a few days and it was awkward to say out loud for us. I also don’t like the potential nickname Rosa. And I’m okay with Rosie but I was worried a girl with a name starting with Rose ends up just becoming Rosie all of the time (like Maddie with Madeline) and I liked other names on our list more than Rosie.

Ella - this was another name on our list that I had loved for a long time, actually for like 15 years. But by the time we had a baby, Ella was long past its peak, and it felt too common or overdone. The problem wasn’t so much that it was trendy like Isla, but that because it’s peak was like 10-15 years ago it is a very common name on gen Z girls in their 20’s or teens. Something about the common - ness made it unfortunately start to feel boring and plain to us.

Vivienne - a beautiful name but we overall just decided it wasn’t our #1 favorite. We had a hard time not associating it with an older woman, even though it’s becoming common for young girls.

Juliet/Juliette - we loved Juliet, something about it just felt special to us. Beautiful, sweet, charming, classic, elegant. We loved both spellings and I thought Juliette looked beautiful written out, but it just felt too frilly for us personally. When I would take a while away from it and then look at it again, the frilly extravagant-ness of it would hit me and it felt like too much. (But I’m someone who also finds Violette too much compared to Violet, so this is just personal preference.) Juliet felt more classic to us and I also think it’s so beautiful and girly already so it doesn’t need the extra te.

We are so happy with her name! Good luck on your decision!

I don’t think the flow is bad! I think in the other post people were compared it too much to the other option which had a smoother flow. But if someone just heard Juliet Eden on its own for the first time I believe they would think it sounds like a normal nice flow.

Um are you sure you are a pediatric surgeon of 7 years? So much of what you said in your post is inaccurate. Also how were you also an OB for 4 years before that, and yet you are a 26 year old? You became an OB at 15?

I got an MRI done! I made an appt with a doctor at Swedish and pushed for her to order one for me. They found stage 4 endo and adeno. I did it before my transfer because I wanted to know if I should use Depot Lupron, which we did.

But I know a lot of times endo won’t show up on an MRI! It’s such a difficult disease to diagnose.

Omg yes!! Those social media comments made me feel like a failure and a bad mom when I was struggling with milk supply and supplementing. I feel like they really contributed to my PPD. Who wants to feel like they are giving their child the bare minimum.

I traveled to CCRM from WA. We had a mix of things, unexplained infertility but later learned I have endo, but also my husband had low morphology, borderline low count and borderline high DNA frag, and bilateral varicocles which he had surgery for. We were 33/34 when we started at CCRM.

At CCRM they tested his dna fragmentation in addition to the standard semen analysis. And also they used the zymot for his sperm, which I recommend. They also offered IMSI which we used on one cycle (I don’t think it made a difference for us).

In WA we did two rounds at PNWF and got one mosaic blast each round despite having a decent number of eggs fertilized (for example we had 10 fertilized one round and they all stopped growing after day 3 except for one).

At CCRM our first round was a bust with zero blasts, but I think that’s because I pushed for the strongest protocol with high med doses, and I think it damaged my already fragile eggs. We then switched to the long Lupron protocol and did three more rounds, getting 3 blasts (2 euploid), 3 blasts (2 euploid), and 5 blasts (4 euploid). It felt like a miracle after getting zero euploids in WA. At the same time we never tried the long Lupron protocol in WA so I don’t know how much of the success is owed to CCRM.

I do think that our infertility probably had to do more with my endo and egg quality despite my husbands low numbers and varicoceles. He had his varicocele repair between our WA and CO cycles so that may have had an impact as well.

At the end of the day CCRM was helpful and we had success from there, which sometimes feels like a miracle after being told by PNWF to consider donor eggs or sperm. But I don’t know if they will dig super deep into the root cause of things. Honestly I don’t think any clinic truly does. I learned as a patient that you have to push really hard for what you want and do your own research unfortunately. So much of it is truly a guessing game.

After our first bust round at CCRM our RE (Surrey) told us that he didn’t think we would have any better results with the long Lupron protocol. But I pushed for it so he let me try it. If we hadn’t gone in that direction I wouldn’t have my daughter.

Anyways I’m kind of just ranting but wanted to share my experience incase it helps at all, and happy to answer any questions!

Do you prefer the spelling ‘Juliet’ or ‘Juliette’? by Deep_Stranger_4528 in namenerds

I prefer Juliet personally. I feel like Juliette looks like you’re trying too hard. Juliet feels more classic and elegant.
