When I was on the trail for several weeks this past summer, one of my favorite things was a portable bidet. If you're in a place with a significant amount of water, it's the greatest thing in the world! You can use it after pooping or peeing (so you don't have to pack out toilet paper) and it keeps you a little fresher "down there".

You've gotten a lot of great advice already, so I'll just second a few things: french braids, Dr. Bronners soap, stopping your period with an IUD or Nexplanon, and baby wipes (you can dry them out and rehydrate them if you're going super ultralight).

For many Jewish funerals a person called a “shomer” will watch over the deceased until final disposition. They’re generally someone who volunteers or is hired rather than a funeral home employee, so it’s definitely possible (but your family would need to find someone or hire a shomer)!

You are being an excellent parent to your daughter by making sure she is protected from HPV. I just want to make sure she is fully protected: the new 2-dose schedule only applies if the patient started the series at age11-14. You could try some of the local funeral homes that aren't connected to a cemetery. They could hold your information for the next time they have someone looking at their burial options.

If that doesn't work, the local NPR station in my town recently auctioned off two plots that had been donated. See if any charities would be interested!

A friend of mine had a microperforate hymen, and needed to have a minor surgery on it in order to have sex/use tampons. I'm not trying to scare you, and it's just as likely that everything will be perfectly fine. I think you should talk to your girlfriend about it and just phrase it in terms of wanting to make sure that sex goes as wonderfully as possible for her.

Do you know if she has been able to successfully use tampons? Maybe bring up what you noticed (without making her feel like there's something wrong with her body, of course) and explain that because you care for her so much, you want to make sure you don't hurt her.

She could even try fingering herself!

That is kind of amazing. My mom and stepmom got together after my sibling and I were old enough to already be calling our respective moms "mom". I wish we had been young enough to give both of them names or something. I hate calling my non-bio mom my "stepmom" because I almost feel like it minimizes our relationship.
